Route 1, Small Stream
After enjoying the silence and warmth for a while after which curiosity got to me and I used Data Eye on the egg.
[Mysterious Egg]
Status: Incubating
Species: ???
Level: 0
I sighed half expecting this and brushed my fingers against its shell.
"It seems like our new partner will be a mystery until it hatches." I say to Treecko.
He just nodded with a bit of confusion and leaned closer to me, curious about what I saw.
Taking a breath. I opened the system again. But this time my focus went to the mall.
First up is the Pokeballs section. There were rows of neatly placed Pokeball marked with cost and description. Ranging from the lowest cost Pokeball (10 pts) to the highest Cost Luxury Ball (80 pts).
Then there were healing items containing basic ones such as Potions, Antidotes, Paralyze Heals, Etc. at the cost of 10 pts as well as rare high tier items such as Full Heals(50pts), Hyper Potions(80pts), Max Potions(100pts), Full Restores(120pts) and Revives(120pts).
After that is the trainer utilities section. It contains most of the stuff you might need for a journey such as Portable Tents(15pts), Flashlight(5pts), Climbing Gear(15pts), Fishing Rods(15/30pts), First Aid Kits(15pts), etc. It also has various Repels(5,10,20pts). There is also a Training Weights(30pts) which increase physical training efficiency.
But my attention was instantly attracted by the Egg Incubator (50pts) which I instantly bought for the mysterious egg.
The points deducted instantly and in the next moment, a sleek capsule shaped device manifested beside me. I carefully placed the egg inside, and the incubator adjusted automatically to give the greatest comfort to the egg.
I then looked at the system description
[Egg Incubator]
A portable, high tech incubator designed to stabilize Pokemon Eggs. Maintains ideal warmth and humidity. Protects from medium impacts. Slightly speeds up hatching.
"Now you will be safe and sound until you're ready to meet us" I whispered, brushing my finger across the glass cover.
Treecko peeked curiously at the device, tapping the glass with his claw then nodded approvingly.
Then I continued to browse the system mall. The next thing that caught my eyes were the upgrades under the trainer utilities section.
Cooking Set Upgrade which cost 100 points. It upgrades my slightly advanced portable cooking set to a full portable kitchen set allowing me to make higher quality meals and pokeblocks fresh on the go instead of the premade ones for travelling. It can also allow me to make diets tailored to certain pokemons when needed.
And the next upgrade was Trainer Bag Upgrade costing 100 points as well. It upgrades my current trainer bag to have more storage space and add two more compartments for better organization.
Although they are both good I don't have the points to currently purchase them.
After that I looked into the Evolution Items section. The cost of most common Evolution stones like Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf and Ice stones were 100 points.
Rare stones like Dawn, Dusk, Moon, Sun and Shiny stones are priced at 150 points.
Then there are the rest of evolution items that are not very well known and are considered rare such as King's Rock, Cracked pot, Metal coat, etc. the items that are required for evolving a specific Pokemon are priced as 250 points.
Then there is the TMs section. It is divided into 5 parts and some special items
First are the special items.
TM Pack - It costs 50 points and can hold up to 50 TMs and can be upgraded with 50 Points to hold 10 more each upgrade. It also comes with an auto sort option.
Then the next is the Portable Learning Machine - It costs 500 points. It can hold up to 10 charges with each charge needing 2 hours to refill. But compared to the other Portable Learning Machines that are limited in their use with absurd price tag of 10000 ₽ and 5 hours of use before being useless. And the costly renting service of 1000 ₽ per hour for the Learning Machine in the Pokemon Center. 500 points feels quite cheap.
Next are the TMs.
Tier 1 - contains low power moves that most pokemon can learn such as Swift, Aerial Ace, Round, Thief, Rock Tomb, etc. They cost around 50 to 150 points.
Tier 2 - contains moderate base power moves, common coverage moves or supporting moves like Bulldoze, Low sweep, Rapid Spin, Substitute, Work Up, etc. These cost around 150 to 300 points.
Tier 3 - contains reliable good base power moves, weather setting moves, common supporting moves, status inducing moves like Flamethrower, Sandstorm, Defog, Thunder Wave, Protect, Etc. These cost around 300 to 500 points.
Tier 4 - contains high power moves, hazards, reliable setup moves, strategic moves such as Earthquake, Stone edge, Spikes, Calm Mind, Trick Room, etc. these cost around 500 to 900
Tier 5 - contains high power moves that often have recoil, stat drops, or needs recovery after using such as Flare Blitz, Draco Meteor, Close Combat, Hyper Beam, etc these cost 1000 points.
After looking through the TM list I decided to save points to get Rock Tomb for Treecko which costs 120 points. I currently have 73 points so it will not be too long before I can get it.
There is also a section for Mega stones, Z-Crystal and Tera Shards that is currently locked.
After studying the system mall for a while I closed the display and secured the incubator in my bag. With that done, I stood up brushing the dirt and grass off my clothes.
"Alright Treecko." I said, slinging the bag over my shoulder. "We have rested enough, it's time to move on"
Treecko gave me a curious look then nodded in approval.
We head back onto the path, the forest thinning out little by little.
Twenty minutes later, the trees finally began to break apart, sunlight spilling in more freely. The journey was not entirely quiet. I could still fill the rush of those short battles along the way. The Rattata who jumped out of the grass and was sent running with a quick Pound, the pidgey who stopped us only to be smacked by Treecko's Tail, even the Caterpie that stubbornly blocked the path until it thought better of it. Small skirmishes sure but they made both of us just a little more confident.
That's when a voice called out from ahead.
"Hey! You there!"
I looked up and saw a boy about my age standing on the path, brown hair messy under a backwards red cap, a Pokeball already in hand. The confident grin on his face told me exactly what was coming.
"You're a new trainer too, right? How about a battle?"
Treecko leaned forward, eyes gleaming, his muscles tensed with anticipation.
I smirked, brushing my hair back as I met the boy's gaze head-on.
"Looks like our first real test just found us."
The boy tossed his pokemon ball and with a flash of light a small purple rat appeared whiskers twitching and eyes sharp.
"A Rattata huh?" I muttered. "Alright, Treecko you're up."
Treecko darted forward into the battle.
"Rattata, Tackle!" the boy shouted.
The Rattata lunges forward like a bullet.
"Dodge and counter with Pound." I said.
Treecko jumped to the side, tail cracking against Rattata's flank. The rodent squeaked but twisted mid air landing on its paws.
"Quick Attack!" the boy ordered.
This time, Rattata dashed forward faster than Treecko could fully dodge, slamming into his chest and knocking him back a step. Treecko growled, shaking it off.
"Don't let go, use Bite."
Rattata darted in again with its sharp teeth showing.
"Intercept with Pound."
Treecko spun, his tail smacking Rattata aside before it could clamp down. The rat tumbled but bounced back quickly.
"Not bad," the boy said, his grin widening. "But let's see you handle this! Quick Attack again!"
Treecko crouched ready this time. "Absorb!" I ordered.
Green glow flared across Treecko's hands as he caught Rattata mid-lunge, sapping energy from its body. Rattata squealed, staggering back with shaky legs, while Treecko straightened, looking revitalized.
"Finish it with pound."
With a sharp leap, Treecko's tail slammed down, knocking Rattata onto the dirt. The Pokémon struggled for a moment, then fell still.
The boy blinked, clearly surprised, before returning his Rattata. He hesitated for a moment, then pulled a small wallet from his pocket. With a reluctant sigh, he took out a crisp bill marked with the ₽ symbol and handed it to me.
"Rules are rules," he muttered. "Winner takes the prize money… so here—100 ₽."
I stared at the note for a second before slipping it into my bag. It wasn't much but it was my first earnings as a trainer and that made it much more meaningful.
"Thanks," I said, meeting his sheepish grin with a smile of my own.
Treecko smugly crossed his arms beside me, clearly proud at both the victory and the reward.
The boy gave a small wave before jogging off towards the thinning trees.
As I was about to start walking a sound echoed in my mind.

After hearing that I quickly opened my system.

After looking through the system I opened the mall and locked my eyes on Rock Tomb.
Rock Tomb [Tier 1 TM] - 120 points
"That's perfect." I whispered and completed the purchase.
"Rock Tomb, huh? That should give us an edge." I murmured mostly to myself, closing the system.
Just as I was about to start walking again, a cold droplet splashed onto my cheek. I froze, glanced up, and saw the sky darkening fast. Within seconds, the gentle patter became a steady drizzle, and then the rain began to pour in earnest.
"Great timing," I muttered, pulling my bag tighter around my shoulder.
Treecko blinked at the sky, his tail twitching in annoyance, then hopped onto my shoulder, clearly not fond of the sudden downpour either.
"Alright, alright, let's find some shelter before we're soaked through," I said, scanning the tree line.
The road was open and exposed. But just off to the side the remnants of the forest still stretched along the route. I hurried towards the thicker patch of trees, boots splashing on the path which was starting to get muddy, until I spotted a large tree with low branches and thick canopy. It wasn't a perfect shelter but it was enough to keep most of the rain off.
I slid down against the trunk, catching my breath as Treecko settled beside me, shaking droplets off his head.
"Well," I sighed, brushing wet hair from my forehead, "looks like we're taking a forced break."
Treecko crossed his arms and gave a huff, though his eyes softened when I chuckled.
