Chapter 12 – The Sect's Secrets

Night had fallen once more over the forest, but the trio—Leon Jian, Mei Lin, and Kael—kept moving. Their target was clear: uncover the Azure Cloud Sect's hidden plans and expose the truth behind the betrayal that had once left Leon for dead.

Kael led them through a series of winding paths, avoiding known patrols and traps. "We're close," he whispered. "The sect has a hidden vault beneath the eastern cliffs. That's where they store their most sensitive documents… and perhaps the evidence of Eldric's betrayal."

Leon's golden eyes narrowed. "Then we move quickly. The longer we wait, the more dangerous it becomes."

As they approached the cliffs, a faint blue glow appeared in the distance—a protective barrier, shimmering like water frozen in time. Leon could feel the jade pulsing, resonating with the energy of the barrier.

"That's their defense," Kael muttered. "No one gets through it without either brute force or cunning."

Mei Lin studied the barrier. "If we try to break it, the alarm will alert the entire sect. We need another way in."

Leon clenched his fists. "The jade will guide us. Let's trust it."

Focusing, Leon let the golden energy of the Celestial Jade flow through him. The light wrapped around his body, interacting with the blue shimmer of the barrier. Slowly, the barrier responded—not with resistance, but with a faint vibration, as if testing his control.

With a deep breath, Leon pushed forward, guiding the energy carefully. The barrier parted just enough to allow them to slip through unnoticed. Once inside, the vault stretched before them—rows of sealed doors, each one marked with the Azure Cloud Sect's emblem.

Kael pointed to one of the larger doors, its lock etched with complex runes. "This one… I've seen sect masters use it for top-secret files. If we want answers, that's where we go."

Leon approached the door, placing his hand on the runes. The Celestial Jade glowed brightly, reacting to the magical seals. Slowly, the runes shimmered and faded, the door creaking open.

Inside, piles of documents, scrolls, and artifacts filled the room. But what caught Leon's eye was a sealed chest at the center, marked with Eldric's personal crest. His heart pounded.

"This… this is what I was looking for," Leon whispered.

Kael carefully opened the chest. Inside were letters, contracts, and a ledger—evidence of collusion between Eldric and rogue cultivators within the sect. Every word was damning. Eldric had plotted to eliminate Leon, seize the Celestial Jade, and consolidate his control over the Azure Cloud Sect.

Mei Lin's eyes widened. "He planned this all along… your exile, your suffering—it was all orchestrated to break you."

Leon's grip on the jade tightened. "No more hiding. No more waiting. It ends now."

A sudden noise echoed through the vault—footsteps, fast and purposeful. The sect had detected their intrusion. Shadows stretched along the walls as elite enforcers emerged, weapons drawn and faces masked with hatred.

"We have no time," Leon said, golden energy flaring from the jade. "Prepare yourselves. This is going to be our first real confrontation with the sect… and the first step toward stopping Eldric."

The three of them readied their weapons, the vault glowing with the clash of anticipation, power, and impending battle. Leon's eyes burned with determination—the path to vengeance was no longer distant. It was here, and the world of the Azure Cloud Sect was about to face the wrath of the reborn cultivator.
