"A human?! How?!"
For a moment, Bardock froze.
He came down here out of curiosity, wanting to check what kind of creatures lived on this planet. But right in front of him stood… a human?!
"No way… is this really Earth…?" Bardock thought, shaken for a second.
But then he noticed something. This wasn't a normal human.
The figure looked human at first glance, but his skin had scales, and two long black horns curled out from his thick hair.
Bardock narrowed his eyes. "Not human… half-human."
It wasn't a beastman either. Not like a lion's head with a human body. No, this guy looked mostly human, but with traces of beast blood running through him.
"So I was right… this planet isn't Earth. Just similar. Strange creatures though…" Bardock smirked slightly.
The universe was huge. Life appeared in all shapes and forms. Nothing really shocked him anymore.
Suddenly—
BOOOOM!!!
The sky shook. Dark energy gathered above, twisting into a giant black thundercloud. Lightning crackled, filling the air with power.
Bardock's eyes sharpened. "This isn't normal weather… it's coming from him."
The half-human stood tall on the cliff, unmoving, as the storm raged above.
"Thunderclouds… power like this? Hmph. This is just like something out of those old cultivation stories," Bardock muttered, his old memories surfacing.
The lightning swelled with destructive force. Bardock could feel it clearly—enough to tear mountains apart.
Then it struck.
CRAAAAACK!!!
Bolts of lightning rained down, slamming into the half-human again and again. His clothes shredded, his flesh torn open, blood spraying into the air.
But still—he didn't move. Didn't even raise an arm to defend himself. He stood there, taking the punishment, as if testing his own will.
Bardock's expression softened slightly. "Tch… not bad. You're not even trying to dodge. Just taking it head-on… you're either crazy, or you've got guts."
The aura around the half-human began to fade. At this rate, he'd die.
Bardock lifted his hand. "Heh… fine. I'll give you a little push. Let's see what happens."
A sharp burst of ki shot from his palm, ripping through the sky.
WHOOOOM!!!
In an instant, the thundercloud split apart, light bursting through as the storm vanished. The planet trembled at Bardock's casual display of power.
On the cliff, the half-human staggered, his body glowing faintly. Then, before Bardock's eyes, he began to change.
The scales on his skin faded away. His horns shrank, disappearing into his hair. His aura grew brighter, stronger, more alive than before.
Bardock crossed his arms, watching. "Heh. Interesting. So that's how it works here… survive the storm, and the planet itself rewards you. Not bad."
The half-human's ki spiked higher and higher, his whole body reborn after surviving the trial.
"Yeah… this planet's got its own rules," Bardock muttered. "A world where even nature itself makes fighters stronger."
But he didn't plan to stick around. He wasn't here to babysit locals.
With a flicker of energy, Bardock vanished, leaving the half-human alone.
The half-human slowly opened his eyes, breathing heavily. His body was healed, stronger than ever.
He frowned, glancing at the sky. "…Someone was here."
His gaze shifted toward the distant mountains, where Bardock had stood only moments ago.
Leaving the endless mountains behind, Bardock didn't care what happened to that half-human.
With Instant Transmission, he appeared in the nearest city full of life.
He didn't come here just for the crowd—he could already sense it. The power levels here were insane. Just from standing in the middle of the city, Bardock picked up more than ten strong warriors with battle powers well over 500,000.
"That's crazy… In this one city alone, there are at least ten guys as strong as Frieza's first form," Bardock muttered, his eyes narrowing.
The odd thing was, despite all this strength, the planet's technology was primitive. No starships, no space travel. It didn't make sense.
"I need to see if this world's power really works the way I think it does."
Bardock pulled a black cloak from his gear and threw it on. His Saiyan armor looked too advanced compared to the locals. Better to blend in—he wasn't here to cause trouble, only to observe.
Walking the streets, Bardock saw giant stone buildings, crowded marketplaces, and people shouting over trade goods. It was strange—like stepping into a fantasy novel from his past life.
He could tell now: this planet's people drew their strength directly from the energy of nature. Cultivation, training, alchemy, weapons—all the stuff he used to read about in books.
Hours passed. Evening settled in. By then, Bardock already had a clear idea of this world.
Humans existed here, just like Earth. But they weren't the only race. In fact, they weren't even the dominant one. There were countless other species—powerful beasts, strange hybrids, noble bloodlines. Humans were considered weaker, short-lived, and often treated as low-class.
Still, Bardock knew better than to underestimate them. The half-human he met earlier had shown that talent and willpower mattered more than blood.
"Interesting… this planet's martial arts might even work for me," Bardock thought. "If I can merge it with Saiyan power, I'll grow even stronger."
But he also knew things wouldn't be simple. This planet was full of mysteries. Even for him, it would take years to uncover them all.
He smirked to himself while scanning the guards on the street. "Even the weakest soldiers here have battle powers in the hundreds. Their captains hit over a thousand. That's about equal to the Saiyan race back in my time… Planets this strong are rare in the universe."
Then Bardock felt it—an overwhelming ki, far beyond the rest. The strongest presence on the planet. His instincts sharpened. He had to see it for himself.
In an instant, Bardock vanished from the city.
He reappeared in a forbidden place, a paradise cut off from the world. Towering trees pierced the clouds, while glowing petals drifted through the air, dissolving into pure energy as they touched the ground.
"This energy… it's so pure. No wonder the strongest being lives here," Bardock said softly, scanning the land. "This is the best training ground on the whole planet."
At the center stood a massive temple, a hundred meters tall. The strongest life force came from the top.
Hiding his power, Bardock floated upward and landed quietly. There, sitting cross-legged, was a woman dressed in white. Her long white hair shimmered, her aura calm but unbelievably strong. She seemed lost in deep meditation.
Bardock's eyes widened. "What the—she's human?!"
He clenched his fists slightly, impressed. "Heh… I thought the strongest one would be some kind of beast or alien hybrid. But it's a human… That's even better. On this world, most humans are weak… but the few with talent… they're monsters. Sometimes scarier than pure-blood creatures."
He smirked again, eyes locked on her. "Now this is getting interesting…"
