Chapter 7 - LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

IAN KADE.

‎This was the week!

‎This is when he starts his practice, and he knows what he's going to be expecting there. It was just like any other usual day for him to wake up early and like expected Sabby was not here. Ian didn't pry, he never did, but within a week he's been here it was hard to ignore when his roommate always stumbled into the room at 4am again, hair tousled, lips swollen from one too many kisses, he always notices the details he doesn't want to really see.

‎The first few nights Ian assumed maybe Sabby just liked late night walks until he realized it was not, and he was the dumb one "again?" he asked almost in a whisper when Sabby right then dragged himself in with hickeys blooming like purple petals along his collarbone, a button or two undone on his shirt, grinning like a cat that got into the cream.

‎Sabby only winked, "don't worry I sanitized everything". Still not Ian's business. He wasn't exactly shocked. This was college, after all. People smoked, drank, danced on tables, skipped classes, dated like their lives depended on it and sometimes even fell in love. So not surprising.

‎Leaving that behind, Ian made a beeline to his first class, honestly he's been having quite a time around here and peaceful, he would love to keep it that way. He took his usual corner away from anyone or just his Stoic expression always keeps everyone away but not completely just like now, there were few girls giggling away from him and probably taking pictures, you see Ian wasn't bad himself. Before the first class began one girl approached him "hey, am Nisha..." she took a seat right beside him and let out her hand only for Ian to stare at it before reluctantly shaking it and turning back to his notes not planning on dragging wherever this conversation was going, this is college, so practically this meant something "so are you new here?" she asked and Ian only nodded his head the girl still not taking the hint he doesn't want to talk "ok, not much of a talker, but we have a party, you know private party and would love to invite you" Ian stared at her, and she right away blushed it felt like his blue eyes were piercing right through her soul "uh....isn't it like Monday?" he questioned "who cares" she shrugged it off "by the way what's your name?" she asked "Ian" he replied expressionless, or because he needed that drink "here is my number tag, find it just right the hallways" she winked right then a professor walked in, Ian only stared at the tag before throwing it in his bag, he was sure he won't need it, no booze he needed to focus.

‎He sat at the cafeteria alone making sure not to make any eye contact with anyone he just wanted his lone time, Ian might have kept his head down just to avoid drama after all everyone had their own way of surviving here, and that's when a chirpy voice startled him "hey handsome" looking up it was Sabby, of course who else "eating alone I see" he commented "not with your friends I see" Sabby only rolled his eyes something in his eyes telling Ian there is a lot that happened "jerks" he scoffed under his breath "well if you don't want me here...." he trailed off "no...it's okay" Ian was quick to stop him even if he just wanted to be alone "I was going to say... If you don't want me I would still sit here" Ian rolled his eyes as Sabby only grinned before looking in Ian's plate "dude what's that" he took un invited bite, definitely annoying, Ian concluded knowing nothing would stop him from taking more from his plate.

‎‎Just then the cafeteria was filled with noise much to Ian's disappointment and the face of the disappointment almost made him gag. Of course, it's the hockey team "aren't they so handsome" Sabby daydreamed as Ian wasn't about to have this conversation right now "ok, ok stop, I just love getting on your nerves, it's cute" Sabby stopped Ian from walking away "but think about it, if you walk away you let them win you lose" that made him think, and he sat back "when did you get so smart!" Ian scoffed and Sabby only grinned "if you want to know how everything runs around here you have me to tell, trust me, I know a lot" Ian was back at eating "of course you know a lot, our gossip queen" Sabby smiled he loved to be called that.

‎‎Ian couldn't stop himself from looking at where the hockey team was, literally everyone throwing themselves at them, explains the girl on Dominic's lap laughing so loudly and so fake. Just then he was met with Dominic's smirk of his own trying to show him who runs this place and Ian only looks away, calm down not yet.....

AT THE RINK

‎Ian's first official practice with the Blizzard Hounds was finally here. The awaited practice. At the locker room, wearing his equipment, he could already picture the faces of the Blizzard Hounds. All sharp jawline and sharper glares, "yeah right...." he's been ignoring them, but time for an introduction officially.

‎The moment Ian stepped on to the rink, all the noise died down. Every pair of eyes was locked onto him like he was the puck they'd been trained to destroy. The couch stepped forward to reintroduce him "so you guys I told you this was Ian Kade, and he will be joining us officially so welcome him to the team" the malicious smiles they sent to him said otherwise but Ian wasn't fazed he expected this, and they don't really scare him. "But wasn't that like last week, why wasn't he in practice?" Theo asked with a smirk "oh were you too afraid" another one added as they laughed out loudly and Ian didn't feel like explaining shit to them "oh he was getting finalized with the registration" couch explained briefly "now let's get back to practice we have a competition this weekend and Ian show us what you got" he whistled and everyone got ready.

‎‎"well finally the cheater joins" Dominic threw him a smirk skating around him as the others laughed 'is this the excuse Mr. Stryker told them?' Ian wondered 'well I guess it's better than to be called a druggie' maybe that was good? 'But I am not a cheater!' suddenly his anger rose, this is exactly what happens when they look eye to eye with Dominic his anger is easily triggered from nowhere. "There it is, a look that fits you" Dominic was really testing him, and it was working 'calm down' 'Am not here to make friends. Am here to play. To win' he reminded himself.

‎‎Ian skated past him, unbothered.....until a puck flew and smacked the boards inches from his face "Dominic!" the couch shouted at him "oh sorry, slipped" laughter echoed from the teammates.

‎Skating again and doing the warm-up drills, the passes 'accidentally' missed him. One player even tripped in front of him during laps, sending him crashing into the boards. But Ian, he got back up. Again and again. No flinching, no barking, just a deadpan stare that said Try harder.

‎Mr Stryker watched from the sidelines, face unreadable, arms crossed. The coach didn't do anything, it looked like a nice practice and how to win their opponents, and he loved to see the energy. Dominic skated up beside Ian during a break, breathing heavily from sprints. "Thought you were a cheater, not a punching bag" Ian stared at him "you're done whining, or do I need to lace your skates tighter for you?" that got a few heads turning. Dominic's smirk faded into something darker "just remember pretty boy, being here means you've got something to prove, I don't" Ian took a sip of water "then stop acting like you're scared of competition"

‎Oh it was now or never and maybe Ian does need that drink.
