Chapter 10 - PART TIME JOB, PART TIME TROUBLE

IAN KADE.

Apart from Ian being a hockey player, having to deal with Dominic's nuisance and everyone hating on him, he had a job to do partly, being not rich meant working, the bills ain't going to pay themselves. "Oh my baby how are you doing" Ian smiled when he heard his mother's voice, he decided to call her before he went to work "mom am ok am the one to ask you that though" he chuckled "I am doing just fine as long as your doing well, how is college, is too hard, any new friends, a girlfriend…?" he chuckled at that "mom" he whined "you know there is no such thing" he spoke feeling embarrassed "but there will be" she chuckled making Ian only sit there and listen to her lectures about love life, he can't really argue with her "ok mom is going to finish up a few things you can always talk to me about anything anytime ok baby?" "Yes mom" he smiled and like dramatic she is always, she gave him virtue kiss making Ian laugh out loud, she never changes. Ian placed his phone down the moment the call was disconnected, a lingering smile still on his lips that's when Sabby's amused face on the door made him almost flinch back "what the hell Sabby oh..." he held on his chest dramatically.

‎"wow so you can genuinely smile who's the lucky girl" Sabby flopped on the bed beside him looking excited about some gossip "there is no girl" Ian said with a sigh while tying his shoelaces, "are you sure?" he dragged "there is no one" Ian snapped but like always Sabby never takes the hint "there is definitely a woman, one who can make this stone smile" Ian only rolled his eyes and wearing a red cape written on 'Café Haven.'

‎"see you later Sabby" Ian didn't add more to anything Sabby asked "come on tell me, I swear not to tell a soul" he was being dramatic now, but Ian only turned around and walked out shutting the door close and leaving Sabby whining on the bed wanting answers.

‎Ian makes it just on time to the new café he's been working at since a week ago, he was lucky he even got it, also not so far from his college, and doesn't clash with his study schedule just perfect, to say this is the only time it's peaceful for him, and enjoys working here. His mother doesn't know about it, though. In fact, the poor woman knows nothing much about what's going on with Ian. Ian didn't do it intentionally, he would rather save her the heartache. How was he supposed to say his son has been accused of using drugs?, changed schools?, plays for another team. She's always been supportive of whatever Ian loved even sold off a few properties to pay his fees Ian was grateful for it, after being diagnosed with a terminal illness Ian would rather have her in the darkness than stress her, in fact he's got it all figured right? Right?

‎As Ian served a few customers he had a bell ding but didn't bother to look up "welcome-" "well, well, look who we got here?" that annoying voice could only be Dominic's, looking up he couldn't mask his disappointment "well not peaceful enough like I assumed" Ian said under his breath "what are you doing here?" he asked with an annoyance laced in his voice "how dare you speak to a customer like that?" Dominic pretended to be offended and going as far as speaking loudly.

‎"Ian everything ok?" his boss on the other side of the room asked and Dominic was about to open his mouth to complain, when Ian jumped to his side and shutting his mouth with his hand, they were so close almost tasting their breaths "uh nothing boss all ok" Ian spoke and glared at Dominic who was enjoying the whole thing a little too much "what is wrong with you?" Ian snapped and Dominic rolled his eyes "my problem is you not serving me properly" Ian only sighed taking a small note pad "what would you like?" he said with gritted teeth making Dominic grin.

‎"make me the best cappuccino and some snacks" Ian looked at him, "what snack?" Ian asked "any, the best one" with that Dominic walked away to sit at the booth where a few people were as Ian stared at him "not going to make this easy are you?, what kind of order is this even" Ian groaned going to make it. And true to his word Dominic didn't make it easy, it's like he was doing all this to in spite him and guess what it worked.

‎Dominic came up with excuses like

‎"too much sugar, make another cup"

‎"too cold"

‎"too hot"

‎"I don't feel the caffeine, Ian, how are you a barista?" Ian was loosing his cool now "what exactly do you want Dominic?" he asked trying to contain his rage and Dominic was surprised "first time you said my name Ian am fluttered" he chuckled and Ian thought he's definitely done with him "how about you go and take coffee somewhere else" Ian spoke almost throwing the fourth cup on the table "ok fine! I'll take it, it's not that deep" Dominic scoffed taking the cup and Ian was smirking at him "what's that look did you poison this" Ian only shrugged and Dominic took a sip only to spit it back and cough at the disgusting taste "you put salt here" Dominic was about to throw hands, but Ian's laugh stopped him from strangling the life out of him, damn … He looked so different, he didn't know Ian had dimples.

‎Ian quickly coughed pretending to be serious and Dominic was a bit disappointed "oh what's going on here?" turns out the boss of the café was behind Dominic who he hadn't seen "oh boss" Ian panicked, if Dominic said what he did he would be fired so he looked down in defeat, it was good while it lasted, but it never came. "Oh I was just telling him how great the coffee was" Dominic said with a wide grin drinking the coffee making Ian surprised "thank you" he paid for the four cups and snacks, taking the remaining with him. The boss didn't ask much and walked back to his office. Ian was confused with whatever was happening right now. He went back and made a good coffee with no salt this time and walked out quick to find Dominic about to enter his Porsche "wait" Dominic turned around to see Ian panting hard "I don't like owing anyone" Dominic was confused when Ian took the salty coffee throwing it away in the trash nearby and giving him a better one "I... wasn't…" Dominic wasn't left to say much as Ian walked away, making Dominic scoff "see you at the rink" Dominic shouted but got a middle finger as a reply "interesting..."
