Chapter 14 - Ch.14

Executive Training Facility

"..."

"I don't care about the science," the cold, blond man said in the secret monitoring room. "All I know is that the situation has been completely exposed. The virus has been leaked, and we must take action to fix it."

"Hello, can you hear me? Delta Team, I order you to completely destroy that train and all evidence. Don't leave a single trace. If the news gets out that the Umbrella Corporation is responsible for this virus leak, you two will be screwed. Do this cleanly and quickly!"

"Do you understand?!"

The man was an important figure and the main villain in the Resident Evil series, an agent with multiple identities, a turncoat, a bioengineering expert, a perfect host for the Progenitor Virus, and a superhuman. He could teleport, catch bullets, and was a nemesis of Chris. His name was Albert Wesker—the S.T.A.R.S. team captain who wanted to be the god of the new world. His list of titles was too long to list, but it was clear that he was an extraordinary man.

Next to him was a simple, blond man in a white lab coat named William Birkin. He was a brilliant bioengineering expert who started as Marcus's assistant and student at sixteen. He soon became as obsessed with the virus as his teacher was.

After he and Wesker killed his mentor, William inherited all of Marcus's research and went on to create his own virus, the G-Virus, which was not yet perfect. The G-Virus's full name was "Golgotha Virus," but William preferred the nickname "God Virus" because his initial goal was to create a new race of humans called "G-Humans." He considered the G-Virus his "God." Although William wasn't as successful as his "senior brother" Wesker in other areas, his ability to research viruses was remarkable. He created the G-Virus at a young age, surpassing his mentor.

But sadly, a student who kills their teacher is destined to have a terrible end, especially one who works for the Umbrella Corporation. William's G-Virus would eventually lead to his own downfall. He would be killed by a special forces team sent by Umbrella's CEO, Spencer, for refusing to hand over the G-Virus. His research would be stolen, a tragic end that no one could escape from.

Aboard the Ecliptic Express

"Beep, beep, beep..."

"We understand. The Delta team will prioritize destroying the train. That's all... The signal is bad due to the thunderstorm. We'll end the call now. Later..."

On the train, the two U.B.C.S. members nodded, acknowledging Wesker's orders. But just as they were about to end the communication, something unexpected happened!

"Shh, shh, shh...!!!"

A rustling sound made the two U.B.C.S. members look up. The sound was coming from above.

The next second, "Hiss—!!!"

Amid the flashes of lightning, a swarm of mutated leeches appeared out of nowhere. They suddenly lunged at the two U.B.C.S. members, instantly covering their entire bodies. They opened their sharp mouthparts and began to feed.

The leeches' mouthparts were sharp enough to pierce glass, so the bulletproof vests and clothes were useless. A moment later, a heart-wrenching scream filled the air.

"Damn it! What are these things?!"

"Leeches... what kind of monster is this?!"

"F*ck! My neck... it's crawling in, ah—!!!!"

In the midst of the chaos, a painful scream could be heard. Covered by the leeches and tortured by their sharp mouthparts, the two U.B.C.S. members were drained of blood and fell to the ground outside the train car. Their communication device also fell, and the leeches continued to crawl all over their bodies.

"Beep, beep, beep..."

"Hello, Delta team, what's going on?"

Wesker and William, who were at the executive training facility, were stunned by the screams. They immediately asked what was happening over the communicator. It seemed those two fools had been attacked by a bioweapon!

But who was the attacker?!

Meanwhile, the three people hiding in the train car were terrified by what they had just witnessed. They finally understood what had caused the horrible state of the Ecliptic Express. The culprits were these disgustingly huge, mutated leeches.

But after feeding on the two U.B.C.S. members, the mutated leeches weren't satisfied. They quickly found the living things hiding in the train car. They crawled over the wet train car, and some even jumped in.

The sight of the swarm of leeches was horrifying. Could you imagine a group of dark, thick, mutated leeches crawling toward you like snakes?

It was enough to make your skin crawl.

"Hiss...!"

With a hissing sound, the mutated leeches jumped over the car's metal frame, went through the broken glass, and entered the train car. Rebecca and Billy gulped and took a step back, visibly terrified. Billy was holding only a cane, and he wondered how he was going to fight these things!

"Hey, catch!"

Just then, Rebecca, feeling a little compassionate, shouted and threw the pistol she had taken from Billy to him. Although she couldn't fully trust him, this was a critical situation, and giving him the gun would help them a lot.

"Let's go..."

"Fire—!!!"

Javier, who was at the front, was the first to react. He yelled at Rebecca and Billy and ordered them to fire. The three of them didn't hesitate and pulled the trigger.

"Bang bang bang—!!!!"

"Bang bang bang—!!!!"

"Boom—boom—boom—!!!!"

The sounds of handguns and shotguns filled the air. The three of them fired wildly at the mutated leeches. Soon, the floor was covered in blood. But there were too many leeches, and they were very agile. The trio quickly ran out of ammo. In that short window, the surviving leeches lunged at Javier, who was at the front!

"Splatter, splatter..."

The leeches crawled all over Javier. He couldn't shake them off. As they opened their sharp mouthparts, Javier could already see them piercing his bulletproof vest and draining his blood.

He quickly took a flashbang from his belt, pulled the pin, and threw it five meters away. Javier quickly turned around, fell to the ground, covered his ears, and closed his eyes. He yelled:

"..."

"Flashbang! Close your eyes, cover your ears, find cover, and get down!"

In the nick of time, Rebecca and Billy also reacted. They quickly went behind a train seat, curled up, covered their ears, and closed their eyes tightly.

The power of a flashbang was much more than what was portrayed in movies and video games, especially a military one. The intense light and sound could instantly destroy a person's vision, causing temporary or even permanent blindness. It could also burst eardrums. It would make enemies go into shock and fall to the ground, helpless.

Simply turning around, closing your eyes, and covering your ears wasn't enough. If you were too close, the flash could still penetrate your defenses and damage your eyes and eardrums.

That's why Javier chose to throw it five meters away to ensure he wouldn't be affected too much. Rebecca and Billy also knew the power of a flashbang and quickly took cover.

"Boom——————!"

With a muffled bang, a flash of light exploded in the train car. It was only for a second, but it was 700 candelas bright. The sound was also very penetrating. After the flashbang's effects wore off, the three of them shook their heads and slowly opened their eyes.

On the floor, a group of mutated leeches lay still on their backs, their bodies twitching. They had lost their ability to attack, and some had even been killed by the shock.

The mutated leeches had a weakness for light, which was why the flashbang was so effective.
