Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: So I’m a Magus too?

Waver looked stunned when Tia called him "teacher" right off the bat. He sighed and said, "Sigh~ Tia just decided to call me that on his own. I haven't agreed to teach him. I mean—he's still just a kid, right? First grade, isn't it? There's no way I'm taking him with me to England."

"Huh? England?" Tia's parents looked surprised and exchanged a glance.

"Mr. Velvet, may I ask—what do you teach?" the dad asked directly.

"Magic! Teacher Waver is a Magus!" Tia cut in eagerly.

"Huh?" Tia's mom looked surprised.

"Magus, huh?" Tia's dad also seemed a bit shocked.

Waver turned to look at Tia in disbelief, shocked that the kid had just said it so casually. His face was full of emotion.

Tia just smiled at him. "Hehe~~"

"Sigh~~" In the end, Waver gave in. "Yeah, I'm a Magus. Honestly, this kid is still too young, but he keeps bothering me. I'm only staying in Japan for a few days anyway—there's no way I'm teaching him anything."

At that moment, Tia's dad gently patted his head, then turned to Waver.

"I understand. magic isn't something you can talk about with normal people. But… this kid actually isn't a normal person. He does have magic circuits—we just never reactivated them," Tia's dad said, then looked at Tia with a helpless expression.

"Huh? You two were Magus too?" Waver was shocked again after hearing that, then covered his face and sighed. "So what was the point of me hiding everything earlier~~"

Tia's mom looked at Tia with a gentle gaze. "Yes, Mr. Velvet, you don't have to be so tense. We were once magus too, so we understand that magic isn't something normal people should know about. But we're not magus anymore, because…"

As she spoke, her expression turned sad.

When Tia was born, he didn't have a single magic circuit in his body. As Magus, both his parents were stunned and couldn't accept it. Was their family's magic crest going to end with them?

To keep their magic bloodline alive, Tia's parents decided to transplant part of their own magic circuits into him. But something went wrong.

Tia's young body either couldn't handle the foreign circuits or something else went wrong—the circuits went berserk right away. Because of that, all three of them had their circuits destroyed at once, becoming completely unusable. The only thing that remained was a magic crest that could never be used again.

Tia's parents barely survived the backlash. But young Tia couldn't handle it. After a painful cry, he went silent—and that was the moment the reincarnated Tia took over.

Since then, his parents never brought up magic again. They felt they owed him too much and raised him with great care. If Tia weren't a reincarnated soul, he probably would've grown up as one of those spoiled, bratty kids who always cause trouble.

This was the first time Tia had heard what happened to him. He was completely shocked.

He wasn't just some normal kid! He was a born magus! He had a family magic crest! He just didn't have any working magic circuits!

After hearing Tia's story, Waver nodded.

"So that's what happened… It's not that Tia never had circuits. They went berserk and broke when he was a baby," Waver nodded again. "Are you asking me to help restore his magic circuits?"

Tia's parents looked at him, pained expressions on their faces.

"If possible, we'd rather Tia never go down the path of a Magus again," his dad said.

Tia had been excited after hearing he wasn't just a normal person, but his mood instantly dropped after hearing his dad's words. He lowered his head, feeling very upset.

Seeing his face, Tia's mom said, "We've worked so hard to hide the whole magic thing because we just wanted you to grow up safe and sound. We didn't want you getting mixed up in something this dangerous again. But to think you already knew, Tia… sigh~~"

After hearing all this, Waver suddenly realized something. He quickly placed his hand on Tia and started checking him carefully.

Soon after, he opened his eyes again. "Just as I thought. Tia actually does have one magic circuit left. It's barely usable, which is probably why I didn't catch it last night when I checked him."

"What?!" Tia's parents were shocked again.

"And you didn't know this either? Tia was born with an EX-ranked clairvoyance ability. He could see the future. He said he broke it from overusing it," Waver suddenly added.

Hearing that, Tia's mouth twitched. He'd never had clairvoyance, and he definitely hadn't planned to tell his parents that lie… Looks like he'd have to make something up on the spot again…

"What?!" His parents were stunned once more.

"No wonder… No wonder this kid always wants to run outside…" Tia's mom said in shock.

"So that's why he could see the future!" Tia's dad suddenly understood. "Sigh~~ Looks like all these years of hiding were for nothing… Tia really wants to become a magus, huh."

When Tia saw how quickly his parents believed the story, his smile looked a bit forced, but he still said what he really felt: "I want to become a magus!"

"Mr. Velvet, we're counting on you. Please help repair the rest of his broken magic circuits. As for the magic crest, we have no way of passing it on to him anymore, so we'll leave that to you," Tia's dad said, completely giving up.

Tia's mom gently patted his head, clearly unwilling to let go, but she had no other choice.

Tia didn't know what to say. He'd always known how much his parents loved him, but he had been so focused on doing something great because he was a reincarnated person that he completely ignored everything else. Only now did he realize how badly he had overlooked something this important.

"Mr. Waver, can you help fix my parents' circuits too? I want my dad to personally pass the family's magic crest to me!" Tia looked up and said seriously.

"Um… well… I'm actually just a student at the Clock Tower. Fixing magic circuits… this is my first time doing it…" Waver hesitated. Seeing Tia and his parents ask so sincerely made him nervous he might mess up.
