Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: A guardian

Somewhere in the Immortal land.

In a magnificent castle for royals, ladies dressed in revealing linen clothes could be seen carrying trays of different colours and types of fragrant flowers into a massive hall. Man servants with long clothes wrapped sexily around their bodies showcasing their tight and fit muscles were seen with elegant ladies. The were either administering a massage or they were openly making out.

This is the IMMORAL VIRDOM.

Jarl's POV

I'm the ninth prince of Virdom. Born to the current ruler and a servant wife whom he deemed pretty enough to bear a royal son.

Among his wife's consisting of noble ladies and merchants' daughters, my mother is considered a lowlife and she is not to be seen where the other wife's of the king meet.

Because my mother's status in the castleis not good, I was also shunned by the princes and princesses. Not like I care though.

I just want a place to rest and be alone, far from the schemes of the castle.

I didn't hate father, I just pity the people of Virdom. Having a king who cared more about his pride and pleasure was a disappointment.

In the whole of Virdom, there was no well trained troops that we can boast about except uncle Imie's special troops. Unfortunately, they were not kingdom property and uncle won't dispatch them unless there's a life threatening situation.

We are supposed to gather in the throne room. It's the grand meet. A special occasion that requires the council and the noble families to attend.

In this banquet, there'll be matchmaking, one night stands and the most important part, the seer's advice.

The banquet was held in a grand ballroom which held records of great achievements at the same time, the shame of our generation.

The king and his first wife, the queen were not in yet so the room looked more like a brothel.

I walked to the table designated for the night prince and sat.

"I thought you wouldn't come." I turned to the source of the voice. It was Kandel's, the seventh prince and the second sone of father's third wife.

I had no animosity with him about I wasn't close to him. We had different goals and agendas and mind our own businesses.

"Why won't I come?" I asked with a calm gaze and a light smile to show my respect. After all, he was my elder brother.

"Because you are never interested in these things." He said with an innocent tone. I laughed and refused to comment.

Among as all, Kandel was more effeminate. He wasn't masculine but he had a very fair skin and an innocent face with delicate features. His body was also slender and beautiful.

We went back to doing our own things but his sneak glances didn't escape my notice. What was this brother up to?

I watched the other princes and princesses take their seats after greeting their mothers. We waited patiently for the council elders to arrive.

Father, accompanied by the first queen walked in. Silence reigned and all activities seized.

"Long live your majesty." We bowed to show our respect.

"You may rise." Father gestured with his hand. His voice had a ting of arrogance and hoarseness.

He gave a welcome speech, same words as always and I was bored to death. He concluded and his hypocritical words lingered. I sneered and earned a glare from Kandel which I dismissed.

Virdom is divided into four big cities. Each city is named according to it's position on the Cardinal point. Each city had a city Lord and these Lords we're here today to report to the Supreme Ruler, Farlow Marshall Percival also my father.

The people became restless when it seemed like the Northern city Lord was giving a neverending report.

Finally the seer was invited in and Lord North paused his report.

"This room smells of obscenities but it will soon be fill with the roar of water waves, the blazing anger of fire, and the bath of blood."

Everybody gasped. This was a very bad omen. The seer had the opportunity to see the things that will happen in the future so no one took his words for granted.

"So what do you suggest we do?" Father asked after calming down the people.

We moved to the throne room. Father had all the guests dismissed. Uncle Imie was called over, together with some council elders and the seer, we went with father.

"A guardian has been sent out to roam. But after he returns, it won't be an exaggeration to say even the gods can't touch that which is protected by the guardian."

Do we need to kill this guardian?" Radnor, the second prince questioned.

"You are really stupid. Won't it be good to befriend this guardian." Crown prince Keston rebuked.

"Why should we befriend someone who is difficult to defeat?" Radnor's low complaint still rang out in the throne room and everyone heard it. Our extraordinary hearing was also a plus.
