Seeing this, Renoli and the other two slowly followed. The temple steps were roughly over thirty meters long.
The fact that this woman could speak from above and have her voice carry directly down clearly indicated she was no ordinary person.
So, even though Kyle liked beautiful women, and Sonia was indeed a beauty, he didn't dare to harbor any improper thoughts.
He did like beautiful women, but there was a time and place for everything.
Their purpose in coming here was to see if they could join the Void God Cult under Mr. Kassadin.
Doing Bounty Hunter missions individually offered freedom, but if they could find a powerful backer and have the chance to gain even greater strength, such an opportunity was clearly not to be missed.
As they slowly ascended the steps and reached the uppermost platform, they saw a tall stone tablet.
The doctrine inscribed on it was strikingly visible: "The great Void will grant all living beings the opportunity to believe in the Void. As long as one is devout enough, the Void will respond."
This doctrine made them realize they had a chance.
However, the other three precepts, which mentioned maintaining sanity at all times and prohibiting cannibalism, sent a chill down their spines.
Just looking at the doctrines and precepts on the stone tablet implied that one could gain power by believing in the Void God Cult.
It was just that this power seemed not to be straightforward, and not so easy to control, with the possibility of losing control.
Otherwise, it would not have mentioned maintaining sanity at all times.
Normally, these things could be told to them after they had believed in the Void, joined the Void God Cult, and had no way back.
But Void God Kassadin directly displayed them.
"Hello, Miss Sonia, may I ask what I should do?"
Lacey also saw the translated doctrines and precepts and knew that if she seized this opportunity, she could escape her current work. So, without hesitation, she respectfully asked.
"It is already written on the stone tablet: as long as one is devout enough, the Void will respond."
Sonia saw the longing in Lacey's eyes, seeing her own reflection, and knew that Lacey also wanted to escape her current predicament. But she didn't say much, merely reciting from the text.
"This beautiful lady, could you give us a hint?"
"We don't even understand what the Void is, or what counts as devout. We don't know what to do."
Kyle asked directly upon hearing Sonia's words.
"Mr. Kassadin said that if you are willing to believe, you may stay. If not, you may leave on your own."
"As for what the Void is, once you have made your choice and joined the Void, I will tell you myself."
Sonia said with a smile upon hearing this.
"Void God Kassadin, establishing the Void God Cult, isn't he planning to form a force?"
"Since he plans to form a force, why make the recruitment threshold so mysterious?"
"The three of us are all super-powered individuals. Recruiting us would surely be a great help to him."
Renoli listened in confusion, asking with some bewilderment.
"To Mr. Kassadin, all sentient beings have the opportunity to believe in the Void."
"So, whether you are an ordinary person or a super-powered individual, there is no difference between the two."
"What is important is whether you are devout enough to be fortunate enough to receive the Void's Blessing."
Sonia stood upright before the temple gate, smiling as she looked at Renoli upon hearing these words.
"..."
Renoli felt incredibly depressed hearing that there was no difference.
As one of the first people to arrive, he had thought that with his strength, even facing various trials, he would be able to pass smoothly and then join.
He never expected the test the other party gave was not based on strength, but on whether one was devout enough.
This Sonia also didn't give any hints; who knew how one was supposed to be considered devout?
"Prophet, did you find out anything?"
Kyle was also confused by these words, knowing that Renoli hadn't gotten any answers, so he looked at the Prophet.
In the past, they could resolve many issues through the Prophet, because in the future observed by the Prophet, the Prophet would take various actions to test others' opinions.
"My ability is ineffective on this island, so asking me is useless."
"She said the test is already written on the stone tablet. Study the stone tablet and you'll know."
"Anyway, Kassadin is willing to let us decide whether to stay or leave based on our own will."
"With our lives not in danger, there's no need to worry too much."
The Prophet spoke in a low voice upon hearing this.
His signature ability, foresight, being unusable on this island, actually made the Prophet extremely uneasy.
So, he spoke little along the way, constantly guarding his surroundings to prevent any sudden situations where he might not be able to react in time.
However, now knowing that they were free to choose to stay or leave, meaning Kassadin did not intend to take their lives, the Prophet's unease was significantly reduced.
At least, at worst, being able to leave this island safely could be considered a blessing.
"I do want to study it, but what exactly counts as devout?"
Kyle heard the Prophet's words and looked at the doctrines on the stone tablet, completely unsure how to proceed.
As Bounty Hunters, they had always been defiant of heaven and earth, at most only cowering a little when encountering someone stronger than themselves.
"Check it, check it."
Renoli knew he couldn't get anything out of Sonia, and he didn't dare to use force here, so he could only think of a solution.
"Devotion refers to an attitude, a sense of reverence for something."
"Similar to believing in gods?"
"It seems so."
"How many people still believe in gods these days..."
"Before discussing that, shouldn't we first consider what the Void actually is?"
"Aside from that, I don't know anything else about Kassadin's origin."
Renoli, Kyle, and the Prophet stood directly in front of the stone tablet, looking at the translated text and discussing it carefully.
Lacey, however, felt that she must cherish this opportunity.
"Oh, great Void, please grant me the power to escape my predicament."
Lacey whispered, muttering continuously.
Because she was weak and could only rely on her body to earn money, she had experienced many things that ordinary people could not endure.
In this world, the weak often had no choices, only the option of passively enduring.
Only by experiencing the helplessness of weakness does one yearn even more for power to make a change.
The test given by Mr. Kassadin was extremely mysterious, easily leaving people bewildered.
She didn't know if her actions would be effective, but Lacey would not leave easily no matter what.
Before she got the news and came here, she had already mentally prepared herself.
Even if she had to undergo severe trials, as long as she could ultimately gain the power to change her situation and escape her predicament, she was willing to do anything.
It's going to be listed tomorrow, and after listing, there will be continuous explosive updates. I hope everyone can support it.
