Chapter 39 - The cannon fodder and his clingy companion

"I'm still thinking it."

Reaching the festival tree, Ellis spoke, and the young man crossed over to tie the dark blue ribbon; he glanced back at Ellis for a moment. Ellis asked with his eyes what's wrong, and the young man turned back, making a fist and pressing it to the top of his head, began to pray. Ellis recognized the gesture because that's how you prayed to the god of light. Only people containing royal blood prayed to the god of light.

The young man must be a relative of the royal family. The family tree was too long and messy; Ellis had skipped it without a second thought, so he wasn't sure, but maybe he should stop prying into his identity. The royals he did know had a different voice than this young man. But then again, titles were merely titles; Ellis, who was in a world without these so-called commoner and noble titles, didn't take them too seriously inwardly, though he was always cautious to not cause trouble and upset the higher-ranking nobles.
