Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Dungeon Core

"Hmm? Where am I? Wasn't I just walking to my apartment?"

I found myself in a neat room furnished only with the basics. Yet, something was missing—the PC I bought after countless hours of part-time work. Instead, a shining orb sat mounted on the desk. Clearly, this was not my apartment. Did I trespass by mistake? If so, I could end up in jail, and I've only just reached legal age. Sweat formed on my forehead as I searched for anything that could tell me where I was.

Then, I spotted an ID card on the desk. What I read shocked me.

It had my name written on it—but according to the ID, I was a high school student at Shuuchin Academy. Why on earth was I a first-year again?

And more confusingly, the card was written in Japanese. I may be a self-proclaimed weeb, but that doesn't mean I can read Japanese fluently. Yet somehow, I could understand the kanji perfectly. How was that possible?

The name of the school tickled my memory. Shuuchin Academy... Where had I heard it before?

Next, I found a Certificate of Registration. It listed the same subjects I had taken in my previous life, with a few small differences.

Should I attend classes here? The problem was—I had no idea where anything was.

When I checked my wallet, I discovered it was filled with cash. But before I could think further, my eyes turned back to the shining orb. A glowing game-like panel suddenly emerged from it.

[Multiverse Dungeon Core]

[DP Catalogue]

A game panel?! Was I… The Gamer?

My heart raced. "Dungeon? Am I a Dungeon Master now? That's so cool!"

"Summon Dragon!" I shouted.

[Creature not found.]

"Huh? WHY?!"

I quickly opened the [Subordinate] menu.

[Recruit]

Clicking [Recruit] revealed the following list:

• Mouse – 1 DP

• Pigeon – 1 DP

• Cat – 5 DP

• Dog – 5 DP

• Pig – 8 DP

• …

• Blue Whale – 100 DP

"…Are you serious? Is this even a dungeon, or just a zoo? Wait, actually… I could start a zoo."

I shrugged. Too much paperwork to get permits anyway. Next, I checked the [Shop].

[Shop]

• Bread – 1 DP

• Rice Sack (5kg) – 10 DP

• Meat (A5) – 50 DP

• …

• Nuke (B-rank) – 200,000 DP

"What?! A nuke? Who would even buy that?!"

Before I could continue browsing, a knock came at the door.

I cautiously peered through the peephole. A girl with medium-length navy-blue hair and an eyepatch stood outside. I recognized her instantly—Rikka Takanashi from Chuunibyou Demo Koi.

So I had been transmigrated into an anime world.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The knocking grew insistent.

I opened the door. "What's wrong, kid?"

She spun around dramatically. "I am the wielder of the Wicked Eye… Rikka Takanashi! The sealed power of darkness flows through me!"

I stared at her flatly, then began closing the door.

"Wait, wait, wait!" she cried, wedging herself in before the door could shut. "I heard you summon a dragon!"

My expression darkened. I may be a weeb, but chuunibyou antics? That was a line I refused to cross.

"You must have misheard. If that's all, please step aside before I call the landlord."

She flinched, then muttered about "the organization" chasing her as she scampered down the hall.

"Don't run in the hallway!" I called after her. Surprisingly, she obeyed.

I sighed in relief. Too much trouble to deal with. Still… Rikka? This confirmed it—this was indeed an anime world. My heart pounded. If this world held even a trace of fantasy, perhaps my dungeon would eventually allow me to summon creatures beyond mere Earth animals.

With that thought, I returned to the panel.

[Dungeon Map]

• Apartment (can scout periphery)

The map showed my current apartment and the surrounding units. To my surprise, the neighboring rooms displayed data too.

[Jun'ichi] – 42 DP/day

That was a lot! If one person could provide that much daily, thirteen years of waiting could net me a nuke.

Finally, I opened the [DP Catalogue].

[DP] – 1002

[DP/day] – 10 DP (neighbor not inside dungeon; only mapped for periphery scouting)

How to Collect DP:

1. Absorb from surrounding ground.

2. Accumulate as intruders remain inside the dungeon (amount varies by intruder strength).

3. Kill an intruder (gain ×10 of their daily DP).

4. Offer a corpse (varies depending on the deceased's former strength).

5. Offer treasure (varies depending on item value).

Strength Scale:

• G = Normal human (20 pts/day)

• F = Athlete level (50–100 pts/day)

• E = Low-tier superhuman (Wall destroyer) (250–400 pts/day)

• D = High-tier superhuman (Building Destroyer) (400–600 pts/day)

• C = City-block destroyer (600–1000 pts/day)

• B = City destroyer (1000–1500 pts/day)

• A = Continent destroyer (1500–2000 pts/day)

• S = Planet destroyer (2000+ pts/day)

Note: The 5-minute rule defines destructive potential. Lower ranks can theoretically cause greater destruction over time but do not qualify for higher ranks unless they can achieve it within 5 minutes.

Additional modifiers:

• Locked targets = ×2 DP

• Imprisoned targets = ×3 DP

I blinked in disbelief. Was the neighbor actually locked up? This was insane!

I immediately attempted to expand my dungeon territory. Selecting the entire building triggered an error, but reducing my range worked—I successfully claimed four rooms on either side of mine. Since my floor had ten units total, that gave me control of nine out of ten already.

My daily income skyrocketed to 374 DP/day. Since it was nighttime, all rooms were locked, doubling the intake. That came out to more than 15 DP per hour!

Could I exchange this into money?

1 DP = ¥200

My jaw dropped. That was nearly $20 per hour—just for sitting around. What if I claimed the entire city?!

The ultimate cheat.
