Chapter 45 - Chapter 45

The Tarot Gathering started and Audrey couldn't help but notice a new face- it was a young boy sitting beside Alger who too was looking at the new member in slight surprise and intrigue.

Klein tapped the edge of the table and said with a smile,

"This is our newest member, his code name is Sun."

"This is Miss Justice, and that is Mr. Hanged Man."

Newest member? Audrey was shocked at first, then her shock immediately turned to joy.

She was very excited to see the development of the Tarot Club. She felt like a protagonist.

Klein, who was able to read Ms. Justice's expression and emotions through his spirit vision and her underdeveloped experience to hide her feelings, could almost see what Ms. Justice had been thinking.

Why was everyone around Klein so in deep with this protagonist syndrome?! Roselle, Leonard- now even the sweet and naive-looking Ms. Justice! Klein secretly side-eyed The Hanged Man through the grey mist.

After the introductions were over, Audrey finally turned to the end of the long table and told Klein with a smile and cheer, "Mr. Fool, I've found 2 more pages of Roselle's diary."

Klein nodded, "What do you need in return?"

Audrey's eyes beamed with excitement, but she replied in a reserved manner, "I hope that I can get the formula for the Telepathist potion so that I can prepare the ingredients ahead of time. I'll give you another page, hmm, I'll also pay you a sum of money on the side…"

Klein's eyes twinkled- money!

She had yet to finish what she said when she suddenly felt that it had come out wrong. She couldn't help but berate herself in her head, Mr. Fool is at the very least an important figure which approaches that of a god, how could he be bought over by money?!

Hence, Audrey couldn't maintain her Spectator state as she hurriedly added with a stammer, "That's not what I meant! Mr. Fool, what I meant is that you can determine the compensation that you'd like. Yes, that's what I meant!"

"…"

No, I kind of need money-

No no no no, asking for money like that would definitely ruin his image as the great Mr. Fool who is a deity… how about saying he has a subordinate who has the Telepathist formula- no, 'adorer' sounds way cooler and makes him look like someone with great power… of course, the 'adorer' in question was himself hehe… and because that adorer is in need of some money- he'll make an anonymous account in Backlund Bank and get the money for his 'adorer' through Ms. Justice.

Just then, The Sun, Derrick Berg, suddenly spoke, "The Telepathist potion formula? Telepathist that is followed by Psyche Analyst? I can get you the formula!"

Then, he felt guilty as he couldn't provide it immediately. He tried his best to explain himself, "It's a Sequence pathway that stemmed from the Dragon race. And our City of Silver was once ruled by the Giant King's imperial household. As you know, the Giants and the Dragons are sworn enemies. Hence, the City of Silver has all of Sequence 9, 8, and 7. I have ways to get them."

Alger and Audrey blinked- the what and a what now? Dragon Race? Giant King? City of Silver? Why did it feel like either this boy was mentally insane or lived in a different world…

Klein felt the urge to face-palm,

This kid… someone needs to teach him not to reveal too much of his own information and location!

Little Sun reminded Klein too much of the too-trusting and naive kids back on earth on the internet and accidentally give out their location and/or address to everyone else without thinking of the consequences… someone needs to teach this kid 'stranger danger'…

Alger and Audrey looked confusedly at each other and then at Mr. Fool who was just sitting there at the end of the table with his face resting on his hand with a small smile on his face as he casually looked over the talk.

It's true! The information has been guaranteed by Mr. Fool!

Ah… to think that the Spectator pathway actually stemmed from dragons! Audrey no longer wanted to change her pathway to anything else anymore. This was even cooler than the powers she had seen from Ms. Fors Wall! How could walking through walls even compare to the awesomeness and might of dragons! This seemed like the pathway for protagonists!

Klein felt his spiritual intuition trigger and give him another warning. He side-eyed Audrey.

Turns out the Protagonist Syndrome is his real enemy in this world…

"The City of Silver, I've never heard of this place… Where is it?" Audrey probed while Alger listened attentively.

At that very moment, Derrick Berg's head was filled with questions as well. He could tell that, besides the godlike Fool, Justice and The Hanged Man were some sort of Beyonder.

In the Forsaken Land of the Gods, besides the people in the City of Silver, Derrick had never seen another living human.

So, he asked in reply, "If you aren't residents of the City of Silver, which city-state are you from?"

Sigh… Klein couldn't help but wish to sigh again.

Audrey trembled her lips, momentarily at a loss for words.

Yes, the hidden meaning behind his question is that if you don't want to answer a similar question, don't pry into the questions about where the other person lives…Miss Justice nodded faintly and elegantly kept quiet.

Obviously, Alger had misunderstood The Sun's intentions as well. He didn't know the other person was really just asking straightforwardly. So, he kept quiet too.

Klein tried not to laugh again- Little Sun was so innocent that everyone misunderstood his words… I swear he doesn't have enough emotional and psychological IQ to wordplay like this… Klein chuckled in his mind.

Finally, the three-way deal between Little Sun, Ms. Justice, and Klein was set forth- Klein gave Derrick the Sequence 9 Sun pathway Bard potion formula, Ms. Justice would later get the Telepathist Formula she wanted from Little Sun and also give Klein- no, Klein's 'adorer' money compensation and another page from Roselle's diary.

Hehehe…

He might still be a bit worried for his little cult's future but at least it was printing cash for him!

Klein was so excited with the prospect of money he couldn't realize how shameless he was being…

Well, the grey fog hid everything well- and it's not like there are flying beings all around him who can read his mind and steal his thoughts! His mind was somewhere he can be as shameless as he liked~

Finally, Ms. Justice handed over the two Roselle's diary pages she had memorized to Klein.

The diary immediately appeared on the yellowish-brown goatskin and, with a flash, appeared in Klein's hands.

Just like before, he started reading immediately.

"3rd November, Matilda is three months pregnant now."

Oh? Klein was very interested in Roselle's relationship situation due to his own similar experience of being stuck with Amon- not like he regretted it, Amon was the best wife!

I wonder what the emperor was like to his wife… she was already pregnant by then? Then they must have already been married and together for a while…

A kid…

Suddenly the image of a child with Amon's and his own features flashed by Klein's mind and he couldn't help but blush.

Amon was not even a female! Why did his mind have to give him images and hopes like these-?!

Klein sighed as he continued to read,

"I even find those maidservants who come from the villages beautiful."

What.

Klein squinted.

"No, I can't lower my standards. Coincidently, Countess Florais has invited me to join a private party, hehe."

"…"

Klein was speechless.

Traitor! Cheater! Trash! Scum!

Cheating on wife was the worst crime there was! Klein couldn't even imagine holding hands with someone other than Amon and this emperor was actually full-on cheating and loving it?!

The image Klein had of Roselle in his mind suddenly plummeted manyfold.

Klein was so bummed out by this he couldn't even focus on the important information the cheater emperor had written in his diary pages next about switching pathways and the secret organization he had joined which held the second blasphemy slate. He also only listened with half the usual attentiveness as Ms. Justice updated everyone about the civil service examinations, the war that The Hanged Man had asked about, and her questions about Mr. A after which The Hanged Man had replied to her question with the information about the Aurora Order.

Finally, The Hanged Man asked for help regarding catching pirate Qilangos, codenamed Rear Admiral Hurricane.

"He's a Sequence 6 Beyonder of the path of the Sailor, a Wind-blessed. He also has a miraculous item that could be classified as a Sealed Artifact. He's quite crafty and cruel. Don't attempt to deal with him," Alger introduced seriously.

He suddenly turned to Klein.

"Mr. Fool, can I get your adorer to assist me at the critical moment? I would pay a price that interests you."

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh-!

My adorer is myself????

Klein felt that if he wasn't here in his spirit body and in his actual real body, he might have started sweating nervously already.

Okay… at times like this- he had to do what he was the best at doing while posing Mr. Fool- talk out of his ass and hope that his confidence would deter away any suspicions!

"That is built on the premise that my adorer happens to be in Backlund." Klein informed with a smile. To be honest, he kind of felt guilty with this entire charade- but eh, a man's gotta do what he gotta do. And he was getting money through this secret 'adorer' of himself! That overtook all the cons of the situation being too embarrassing!

"Alright." Alger retracted his gaze, a little disappointed, but also a little expectant.

After this Alger proceeded to inform everyone about the pirate admiral and his mysterious multiple abilities which were probably from the mystical item called 'creeping hunger' the man owned.

Klein watched baffled as Derrick so casually told everyone about important and expensive information about the Shepard pathway without asking for any compensation and reaping any benefits!

Audrey got even more curious and pressed, "Which Sequence pathway is Shepherd from? Which number is it?"

"The Secrets Suppliant pathway, Sequence 5." Klein seized the opportunity to answer so as to demonstrate that he knew everything.

Again, he was glad that his mind was his own and no one could read it and see his thoughts.
