Chapter 8 - Emotions Out of Control

"Ah... cough... cough..." Mark choked on Edythe's question.

Seeing Mark's embarrassment, Edythe's eyes narrowed, and her smile grew wider. And before Mark could respond, Edythe said:

"Judging by your reaction, the answer is no, which means you're a virgin!"

When Mark heard that sentence, his face showed embarrassment, and he replied a bit shyly:

"Even though I don't have a girlfriend, I do have experience in that area!"

Mark told a half-truth, because in his previous life he had tasted the forbidden fruit and had to admit—it was very good.

But the Mark of this world had never had a girlfriend, which made him embarrassed, because, to some extent, Edythe was right.

"Hehe..." Edythe just giggled. She looked at Mark with a smile that showed she was enjoying his discomfort.

"Okay, now it's your turn! Do you have a boyfriend?" Mark asked, averting his gaze, though he was actually watching her from the corner of his eye.

Too bad he didn't see any embarrassment on her face, as if it were something normal. Edythe replied:

"To be honest, I do!"

"You do?" Mark's eyes changed, and he looked at Edythe with a hint of disbelief.

When he heard that answer, Mark felt his good mood turn bitter. He just stared at Edythe's face, trying to see something, but she kept that playful, characteristic smile.

Edythe noticed the change in Mark's mood—he was like an open book, unable to hide his emotions—and she found all of it interesting.

Then Edythe laughed and said:

"Hehe... I'm just kidding, I don't have a boyfriend... hehe, you should see your face right now. You're not falling for me, are you?"

Edythe laughed at Mark's face, which stared at her with a blank expression. She didn't realize that, at that moment, something was wrong.

"All right, I'm leaving first." After saying those words, Mark stood up and left angrily.

"Huh?" Edythe, who had been laughing happily after successfully teasing Mark, froze when she saw him walk away angry.

For a moment, she felt something in her heart and regretted it a little. But she just watched Mark disappear into the distance.

Did I do something wrong? Edythe wondered in her heart, and the smile on her face vanished. She stood silently, looking in the direction Mark had gone.

"Something's wrong with me, because I got angry over something like that," Mark murmured.

He had never thought about it before, but Mark felt something was wrong with him—with this body.

He had lived until the age of 30 in his previous life, entered society, and gone through many hardships, always facing everything calmly and responsibly.

But now he couldn't even control his emotions—it was as if he had turned into a spoiled brat.

Mark felt ashamed of his behavior in front of Edythe, even though he had heard her say it was just a joke.

He couldn't change the fact that he was angry and had run away, embarrassed.

Soon the bell rang. Mark went to the next class, but unfortunately, the afternoon classes weren't with Edythe.

Neither of them could concentrate and kept thinking about each other until the end of the day.

Mark was a bit embarrassed and rushed home. Although he wanted to apologize to Edythe, he planned to do it another day, after calming down.

Edythe saw Mark leave without looking at her and felt something in her heart. Just as she was about to call out to him, Edward appeared.

"The little couple had their first fight?" Edward said jokingly.

Edythe looked at Edward with an angry expression and said:

"That's none of your business!"

After saying that, Edythe turned and walked away, and Edward raised his eyebrows at his sister.

"Looks like I was right," Edward murmured and walked off with a smile.

After Mark got home, he saw the note left by his father. Tonight, his father would be working a night shift and would only return in the morning.

After finishing reading the note, Mark threw it away and went to his room. After an unknown amount of time, Mark came out wearing a different set of clothes.

He went down the stairs and left the house. Mark got in his car and drove off; he didn't know where to go. He just wanted to distract his mind from the events of the day.
