Chapter 5 - Confrontation

While Red continued training Zeriel battling wild Pokémon and few trainers, Oak was in a call with Ash who was in Celadon City.

Oak: "So, that was all new."

Ash: "Thanks professor."

Oak: "I'll call you again in a moment, when I finish training Zeriel."

Ash: "Alright professor, I'll be waiting your call."

Then the call ended, and Ash turned around while Misty was with a worried expression and holding her left arm with her right hand, and Brock was with crossed arms and with his serious expression with a slight noticeable worry.

Both Brock and Misty were staring at each other, as Ash satrted to walk back and continue to obtain the tea the guard wanted. Both hesitated for a second before following Ash, but both remained a little back behind.

Misty: "Do you think is a good idea?"

Brock: "Professor Oak must have reasons if he really wants that Pokémon be with Ash."

Misty: "He must have, but... For what Ash shared with us he went with Pikachu, this Pokémon isn't near Pikachu."

Brock: "That's true, Ash gained Pikachu's trust by showing Pikachu it could trust him. Something make sme feel this Pokémon won't work the same way, but maybe works with it too?"

Misty: "... I hope. You saw how it was with me, I don't think Ash could be ready to handle such Pokémon..."

Brock: "... I know what you mean, but if Oak really wants this Pokémon to be with Ash, is because Oak knows Ash can reach it as did with Pikachu. And he has proved he can reach Pokémon to us, so I doubt this could end different."

Misty: "... Maybe... But I feel this is a bad decision from Oak. Ash is just a kid, and that Pokémon... doesn't act like a Pokémon at all..."

Brock: "... Is a total mistery, but we'll be the first to discover about it, as we alreay did to Oak. And in all the journey Ash has ahead, I believe he will find multiple ways to make it work, as he did with other Pokémon. If there's someone capable of reaching any Pokémon, that's Ash."

Misty hesitated, the trust and believe Brock had on Ash to reach Zeriel and befriend it was something that concerned her, as she couldn't get out of her mind those interactions with Zeriel after she captured it until was with Oak.

After a moment, they continued their journey, entering the Celadon Mansion for that tea. Meanwhile, Oak started to prepare a real challenge to Zeriel for when Red finished and came back, one to see if Zeriel really learnt and was ready for what was to come, Sabrina.

Meanwhile, Red was facing Blue.

Blue: "And so, we face again. I suppose you came to face me with something new, right, 'Champion'? Come on, Red. Show me already what you got."

Red hesitated, but then with the fingers of his right hand grabbing the edge front of the cap, he grabbed the Master Ball of Zeriel with his left ahnd and pulled him out.

Zeriel landed rigid and with closed eyes looking down.

Blue: "Oh, a new Pokémon? Impressive, Red. Now I get what you want. Let's battle and see waht this new Pokémon can do."

Blue then pulled out his Pidgeot.

Blue: "Pidgeot, use Aerial Ace."

Red: "... Hold."

Pidgeot quickly flied to attack Zeriel who hesitated for a second before opening his eyes and lifting his left hand. Then, Zeriel's pupils were blue, and when Pidgeot was very close to reach Zeriel, Pidgeot couldn't move anymore as had a blue line aura around it as same it was on Zeriel's left hand.

Blue (Thought): "What? So is Psychic Type. That's good to know, that appearance must be a visual trick. A Psychic Type skeleton Pokémon... There must be more Red has hidden under his sleeves. I better prepare."

Red: "Slam."

Then, Zeriel swong his left hand down, and Pidgeot flied down adn smashed against the ground, receiving very small damage. Then, after a second of hesitation, Zeriel starting swinging his left hand up and down, making Pidgeot fly up and down to be smashed against the ground over and over again few times, and then after the third time, Pidgeot got confused.

* It hit 4 times.

Blue (Thought): "Huh? Alright, focus Gary. Is a skeleton, so must be Dark Type too, but is weird for a Dark Type to also be Psychic Type. Wouldn't be weird if Red wanted to presume hsi new unique and new Pokémon he discovered to bother me. I have to win this."

Then, Blue decided to make Pidgeot go back, and pulled out Alakazam.

Blue: "Alakazam, use confusion."

Red: "... Bone Wall."

Blue hesitated, wondering what Red was thinking about. While Alakazam attacked Zeriel using Confusion, and Zeriel rised his left hand up quickly, making a small wall of bones rise in front of him, but as he did, he got affected by Confusion.

Zeriel reacted closing for an instant his eye sockets with a hurt expression, but then changed into a slightly tired expression while his body satrted to swing slightly around.

* Zeriel got Confused.

Blue: "Alakazam, use Calm Mind."

Alakazam then rises it's Special Attack and Special Defense by one, while Red remained silent, and Zeriel looked slightly around, slowly, until turned around and looked at Red. Zeriel's expression then quickly changed into a surprise one, and remained in shock.

For Zeriel, all was glitchy and switching from where he was into a dark place while hearing a wind kind of whisper around, and Red glitching between a ghostly red fade silhouette and Chara, for few seconds.

Red: "... Blast."

Zeriel hesitated, even more surprised, as he heard something different as what Red really said, hearing it as another whisper echoing around.

Red (Whisper): "Proceed."

Zeriel hesitated, and then slowly turned to the small bone wall in front of him. After a few seconds of hesitating and observing, he pulled it down and observed both Blue and Alakazam. He hesitated, getting scared and taking a step back as was also confusing both with different things. At the third step he took back, he heard again the same whisper telling him to proceed, and then again and again, until it was hearing it constantly in his head and was all he could hear.

Zeriel: "FINE!... JUST STOP IT!... JUST STOP ALWAYS MAKING WHAT YOU WANT TO HAPPEN!"

Blue hesitated, wondering while the sudden yell, but confused by hearing Zeriel yell.

Blue (Thought): "... It can... talk...? What kind of Poke-"

Then he stops thinking, as a sudden blast is shot at Alakazam. Blue barely dodges the blast by moving to his left. He then hesitated, observing to where it reached the blast, and then quickly turned to look at Red, in shock and surprise.

After few seconds, the blast went smaller, and Blue saw the Soul Blaster.

Blue (Thought): "Alright, what... is that. That's not a normal move a Pokémon can use to attack. Is a big skull with sharp teeth and horns, and... is a kind of Dragon skull?, or what kind of skull is it? And how it can shoot a beam?"

As Blue was on his thoughts, the Soul Blaster dusted away, and Zeriel panted forcing his eye sockets to be closed, and his arms rigid firms straight pointing at where Alakazam was, and his hands open.

Blue hesitated, glancing to look at Alakazam while was fainted, then to Zeriel and then Red.

Blue: "... No... No, you can't be serious... First, you take what was mine, making it given then as worthless. And now you come back just to... humiliate me with a, whatever Pokémon this is?! Let me guess, did Professor Oak create this too?? Just for you to enjoy?!... Are you satisfied now for testing your new toy?!"

Blue then started to look around nervously, in desperation and worried.

Blue: "Gramps, get out already! Is this what you wanted?!, because you got it! I give up! As you sure wanted me to do before, so this didn't had to defeat me to become the Champion, right?!"

There was silence for a short moment, as Blue continued looking around, and Red remained standing still after making Zeriel go back into the Master Ball.

After a short moment, Red turned around and started to walk away. Blue then hesitated as turned to look at Red and quickly got mad.

Blue: "Oh, no. You won't leave me like this again. You won't just humiliate to feel worthless and all around me being worthless!!"

Then, Blue pulled out Blastoise as made Alakazam go back to the Pokeball.

Blue: "Hydro Pump!"

Blastoise then used Hydro Pump, and Red hesitated to stop and slowly turn around, but got impacted in the back by Hydro Pump. Red the got pushed to crash. After crashing, he hesitated before falling down badly damaged and sitting down. Red didn't had any injury from where to bleed, but was in a very poor state and badly injured visually.

Blue then walked closer, and his Blastoise followed him. While Red's cap finished falling slowly and landed in the ground.

Blue: "I'm done!... I'm done with gramps making me worthless, making me be pushed away! I AM THE POKÉMON CHAMPION, NOT YOU! BUT YOU, AND ASH, WERE ALWAYS THE FAVORITE CHILD, WHILE I GOT PUSHED AWAY CARELESSLY BY WHO WAS MY OWN GRANDPA!"

Red then slowly pulled out Zeriel, barely holding the Master Ball properly, but then the Master Ball fell down from Red's hand. Zeriel was still under Confusion, so he looked around and then got in deep shock staring at Red, unable to look away, as for Zeriel, he was standing aside of Chara who laying down, bleeding and was with blood around it. Zeriel entered in panic, deep worried and in deep shock, going to cry, while was seeing as if Red as Chara had a yellow flower crown on the head near falling down and covering the right eye while was also extending the left hand to reach him.

Zeriel reacted after a second, but when moved to grab the left hand, it quickly fell down and the left eye closed, and he stopped mid-way from moving closer.

After a short moment, Zeriel's pupils started flashing constantly, with a red and purple tone, and his smile was a deep grin of a genocidal sociopath. Then, he slowly opened his right hand, and a very sharp bone appeared under his palm, and he grabbed it very firmly almost cracking it, and then he teleported and slashed Blastoise, pushing it back, slightly far away. Blue hesitated, in shock so he quickly moved to his Blastoise while looking back at Zeriel.

Zeriel stood standing with his forehead and face deeply shadowed but the flash of his pupils visible and lighting. And Blue noticed as Zeriel was looking at him.

Meanwhile, all that was over Zeriel's mind, were way too many memories flashing constantly, along the words "It's has always been the humans' fault", "It's all cause of the humans'", and "She was always right", over and over constantly.

When Blue reached Blastoise, Blue checked and gave it a Full Heal, and then pulled out all his Pokémon, using a Revive on Alakazam.

Zeriel hesitated, but then quickly started attacking, vanishing and slashing Pokémons one by one in a speed none of them could see, then all flashed yellow and nothing happened, but all Blue's Pokémon along him got pushed by sudden bones that rised from the ground.

Zeriel made bones crash them, push them, Soul Blasters blast them until being just dust, impale them with bones, pierce them with bones, slash them, cut them in half, and much more over and over using the Save Star to restore time before attacking, so he could kill them over and over again.

After a moment of killing them all more than twenty different times, even repiting different ways, he didn't feel anything and wasn't feeling better, so he stopped after using the Save Star again, and threw the sharp bone away to move his hands to cross on his chest, and then he started to glow white while charging.

Blue and his Pokémon were in shock and traumatized, unable to move under a fear they never felt before.

After a short moment, Zeriel was just a white glow, but then he released a roar and he changed form, as the bones of his chest and ribs moves to be wide open, and his mouth opened wide open too, and his body darkened to black with all his bones sharp. The roar continued for a moment, but it instantly made all Blue's Pokémon, and all wild Pokémon, faint.

After a short moment, Zeriel went back to normal, but was exhausted, sweating and panting, but he then glanced at Red, still under Confusion, continued seeing as before, and so, he took a deep breath, his pupils flashed weakly, his right pupil as a small red dot, and his left pupil a small purple dot with a fade broken red outline.

Zeriel then impaled Blue by lifting his left hand, and Blue got pierced by many bones. Then, Zeriel's pupils started to flash weaker and weaker, until his right pupil faded. He then turned around to look at Red, and then quickly started walking towards him weakly.

When Zeriel reached Red, Zeriel sat at Red's left and inclined to lay on Red's left shoulder and arm. Zeriel healed Red, but on his state, the heal was just a slight recover and Red recovered slightly, and Zeriel's head moved slightly back as the almost faded left pupil exploded and faded away, and Zeriel then let himself to fall over Red's left side.

Zeriel: "Sorry, kiddo... I'm just the lazy bones as I was always..."

After a short time, Red slowly grabbed the Master Ball to make Zeriel get back in, and pulled his Charizard, who took Red and flied back at Pallet town, where Oak was waiting with the prepared last challenge for Zeriel.

When Charizard landed, Oak helped Red. Meanwhile, trainers who were near and got near the place where Red battled Blue, reported the bones and what was there, and reporters of Kanto went on live in news showing the situation.

As the news showed the mess, and reported the death of the Pokemon Champion of Kanto, Gary Oak; Oak was helping Red to recover, but didn't had to do anything at all as most of the injuries were superficial or scratcher or brunches.

Meanwhile, at Celadon City, as same as in other cities in the Kanto region, the new went viral, but at Celadon city were Ash, Misty and Brock. The three got curious and decided to follow the situation, until the three saw the news.

Ash remained surprised and concerned, but also wondering, not really relating the dots at all. Misty reacted very concerned and deeply worried, and after a few seconds she slowly turned to look at Brock, who's expression was firm serious with clear worry.

Misty: "Those are the same bones we saw before meeting that Pokémon."

Brock: "Yes... Whatever happened there, is clear it killed the Pokémon Champion..."

Misty: "How... strong has to be?..."

Brock: "... Enough to be concerning... The Pokémon Champion is the strongest trainer. If that Pokémon managed to not only defeat the Champion, but also kill it... We may be facing a Pokémon way stronger than anyone has ever faced before..."

Misty: "... And so... What do we do? After this, we can't let Ash have it as another Pokémon. It will kill him."

Brock: "... I know, but I still believe in Ash. Even if the situation gets to the worst, Ash will figure it out by himself."

Misty: "... Brock, you rely too much on that trust on Ash. And that can end on his death. We're not dealing with a Pokémon anymore. Remember what it said about what it wanted. When it was with me, it also touched me. It doesn't contain itself, it goes for what it wants..."

Brock: "... It... did?..."

Misty: "... Yes, that's why... that weird moment... When I moved it down and reacted that weird before entering the Pokémon Center, it was beccause it touched me."

Brock: "... I think I got an idea."

Misty: "What is it?"

Brock: "... How about... we give it what it wants?"

Misty: "What?? Brock, are you listening to yourself? How are we going to do that?"

Brock: "Simple. We just need a Ditto to copy you. In that way, it will get what it wants."

Misty: "And then?"

Brock: "... True... It have it clear... Wants to kill everyone, and have a girlfriend... And is clearly killing withouth anything holding it back, so... The only thing I can think of, is if you make yourself hard to get for it, so it will focus on that. Even if Oak told us about Ash being the trainer, that doesn't mean this Pokémon will obey Ash as it's trainer."

Misty: "... Alright? But why me? Why I have to make myself hard to get? I don't... want that kind of things with a Pokémon. Much less with... something that dangerous..."

Brock: "Think about it. When it met Oak for the first time, it focused on him, and was calm completely, talking with Oak. Oak himself enjoyed the interactions between you and that Pokémon. If Oak tells us more about how to interact with it to make it react in the same way, we can make an approach to make it friendly."

Misty: "... And you want me to be the goal it has to reach to get? Like a prize it must deserve?"

Brock: "... Kind of? This is... quite a difficult situation, but we clearly need Oak's guidance for this. But still, as long as we have the Pokeball, it has to accept and be calm. So even if goes hostile, we can stop it with ease."

Misty hesitated, not buying the believe Brock had on Ash, and her expression remained concerned and worried.
