Oak walked away, preparing the double and triple battle. Meanwhile, Red continued training Zeriel in battle against wild Pokemon around Pallet town.
After a while of Oak analyzing and thinking, he finally decided and prepared the Pokemon he was going to use. After a short moment of preparing his Pokemon, he moved to call Red, but then got surprised as Red was already waiting, what surprised and scared Oak.
After a short moment, both were ready for a double Pokemon battle, where Red pulled out Charizard and Zeriel, and Oak sent Magneton and Exeggutor.
Red analyzed both Pokemon, and then his own, deducting the best moves were to use Fire type moves. Red knows Exeggutor is weak against Fire, Flying and Ghost; while Magneton is weak to Fire.
He then checked what Zeriel could do, observing he was Fire type and had Fire magic and Orange soul magic, so he started planning for possible fire types combos.
Oak: "Alright, Zeriel. I hope you're ready for your first team battle. Remember, in this battles, you have to worry for your allies, as same as defeating the Pokemons of the opponent."
Zeriel hesitated, looking down as remained silent. Oak hesitated while looking at Red, who also remained silent. Oak got a little nervous, sweating slightly by looking how pair both Red and Zeriel were at that moment.
Red suddenly grabbed the edge of the front of his hat with his left hand, and moved it down slightly, and Charizard started flying to then use Fire Spin, hitting 2 times to both Oak's Pokemon.
Zeriel hesitated, observing while wondering, and then turned to look at Red, who remained with his head slightly down, to then slightly nod after a second of eye contact. Zeriel continued hesitating, wondering, but slowly turning to look at the battle.
Zeriel glanced at his hands, then the battle, and decided to try. He then lifted his hands up, and a sudden orange flame trail appeared from his hands, and inside of the Fire Spin, all suddenly started to shake and erupted in a huge flame consuming both Pokemon.
Charizard flied down in position, and after a short moment, the Fire Spin went away along the flames, and both Oak's Pokemon were fainted.
Oak: "Wow, that was... quicker than I expected, but you did it. That was an impressive Offensive combo. Let's try now a Defensive combo."
"But first, I need to heal my Pokemon."
Oak then quickly went to heal them, while Red pulled out his Jolteon. Zeriel hesitated, looking around, glancing at Charizard and Jolteon, and then nervous, turned to look at Red, who slightly nodded at him. Zeriel hesitated, nervous, slowly and slightly nodding to himself.
After a short moment, Oak came back and sent Exeggutor, Magneton and Tauros.
Oak: "Alright, Zeriel. This time, is a triple pokemon battle. Focus on your allies, be Defensive."
Zeriel hesitated quite a while, looking down and around nervously.
Zeriel (Whisper): "... ... ... Sure..."
Oak: "Alright. Magneton, use Electro Ball on Charizard. Tauros, use Bulldoze on Jolteon. Exeggutor, use Confusion on Zeriel."
Then, each of Oak's Pokemon attacked, the attacks to Charizard and Jolteon being Effective, while to Zeriel being Super Effective.
Red: "... Heal all."
Zeriel hesitated, but then after few seconds of wondering and thinking, he closed his eye sockets and used his healing magic to heal himself, Charizard and Jolteon. But the heal, he took a deep breath, then slowly opened his eye sockets with a clear evidence of getting tired, and panted slightly along a cough.
Oak: "Tauros, use Rock Tomb on Charizard. Exeggutor, use Psychic on Zeriel. Magneton, use Tri Attack on Jolteon."
After the attacks, the three received big damage. Charizard fainted; Zeriel received huge damage, fainting but getting up by refusing to stay down, but weaker in a slightly downed position; Jolteon didn't faint but was on low HP.
Red: "Heal all."
Zeriel hesitated, nervous and looking side ways at Red. After a short moment of looking both allies, he then closed his eye sockets, took a deep breath, and healed the three of them again, but then fell down and sat down, while Jolteon got healed to 80% HP, and Charizard got up and healed only to 30%. Zeriel panted, sweating while catching his breath.
Oak: "See, Zeriel? You are a really important part of a team, but if all the focus is on you, you and your team will fail."
Zeriel: "... What... I see, is... This wouldn't matter or happen if I attack directly...Everyone else is just... a dead weight on me... So shut it, granny."
Oak: "... I see what you mean, but... No, that's not how it works. This is merely a training, remember. In a real team battle, the opponent will search for any advantage to win, and when you're against two or three... You're likely to get overwhelmed and surpassed, and then defeated with ease."
Zeriel: "... So what? I can on my own. No matter how many I have to face."
Oak hesitated for a second, still thinking of how Zeriel got tired and fell down and the position he was.
Oak: "... That may be true, but as long as you fight on your own, you won't win. Only with a proper trainer, you can win every battle across all Regions. Remember, you'll be with Ash, travelling together to every Region."
Zeriel: "Yeah, yeah, granny... I know. But for what tho?"
Oak: "For research, and for obtain ways to improve you. In other Regions, there are certain things that will allow you to become even stronger and formidable."
Zeriel hesitated, and after few seconds, he got up still a little tired.
Zeriel: "I guess they have something to do with the experiment you did on me?"
Oak: "Yes, but there is still a lot to know and discover. And I already have a route you will follow to not loose time, as those Regions are far away, and would be much better if you used the time properly."
Zeriel: "... Well... What now? Is not as I could leave."
Oak then threw a Rare Candy at Red, Zeriel hesitated and observed as the Rare Candie flied until was catched by Red. Zeriel stared at Red, who observed the Rare Candy for a second before using it on Zeriel.
Oak: "But what we must check, is if the Rare Candies affect you normally now, or still in a strange way."
Zeriel: "... Tastes... the same as always, and I still don't feel anything."
Oak: "... Well... Maybe you still need training until finally getting something from them. But now, let's check you to make sure you get good effects from the Rare Candies."
Zeriel hesitated, but then Red made it go inside the Master Ball, and Red followed Oak inside to then the secret basement of the laboratory. After a moment, Red pulled out Zeriel, who was pulled out inside the tube and Oak started the machine.
After a short moment, the machine started to decrypt the information, but a lot of information was still blocked and unknown with glitching words, but other information was new.
And slowly, Zeriel was becoming fully a Pokemon. Oak observed the new and the updated information, reading how Zeriel couldn't get any effect from the Rare Candies as other Pokémon.
As Oak readed, he quickly remembered to connect his Pokedex, and so, the Pokedex entry about Zeriel started to get updated, waht allowed Oak and Red to know a lot more about Zeriel as a Pokemon but not as entity to know more about him.
After a moment, Oak finished and opened the tube, and Zeriel got out slowly to then sit down, Red then grabbed him by the armpits. Zeriel hesitated, tired and looking weakly down. Red hesitated for a second holding Zeriel, and then quickly used the Master Ball and made Zeriel get back in.
Oak: "Zeriel is more interesting than I thought, so make sure he is well trained. I expect him to get back to Ash tomorrow. I'll be calling Ash in the meantime to make him know and prepare himself, but something tells me Brock will be who may take the strategy role."
Red hesitated for a short moment, and then walked away along Oak until both left the basement. Oak walked to a machine to contact Ash, while Red walked away and started wandering around in the near routes to encounter wild Pokémon.
Red used a Full Heal on Zeriel in the way, and when pulled him out of the Master Ball, Zeriel was stunned and shocked surprised with open eyes. After a second, Zeriel turned to look at Red.
Zeriel: "... Whot?"
Red: "Bone slam."
Zeriel: "Huh? What do you-... mean..."
Zeriel asked wondering until noticed he was in a battle against a wild Weedle. Zeriel then hesitated for a second before his expression changed into a disappointed and bored bothered one.
After a second, Zeriel lifted his right hand while a bone appeared, and he then grabbed it to quickly slash down and a white slash beam appeared abover the wild Weedle that moved down and impacted it, fainting it instantly.
Zeriel: "Why a... whatever thing that was? For a training, how about something that isn't an insect?"
Red hesitated, and then ignored Zeriel making him get back in the Master Ball to continue walking in search of wild Pokémon or trainers to defeat.
