CHAPTER TWO.
ZACH'S POV**
I read the words encrusted on the tomb over and over again like I haven't come to terms with it. I didn't want to come to terms with it.
I felt numb, emotionless, what if the RIP didn't stand for Rest In Peace but Relaxing In Paris.
I hated the fact that my father was now 6 feet under. I hated that I now stood looking like the worst possible thing when I preferred to walk into his office and see him waiting for me with the usual faint smile on his face.
My father was a well known man in our little city in Ohio. He owned a billionaire company and was such a business guru. I learnt so much under him and opened up my own business following his methods at the age of 20.
By the time I turned 24, I owned a big store that earned a huge amount of profits daily.
Although all that is going to change now.
Considering the CEO position in my father's company is now vacant, there was no arguing about who gets the position between me and my younger brother.
My brother came to stand beside me near our father's grave.
We stood there for approximately 2 minutes in silence until I decided to inform Sean what I've been meaning to tell him.
"We're going to the lawyer's office tomorrow to find out the contents of Father's will at 10am. Don't be late."
I left him and walked away.
Knowing my brother, he has always been a narcissist who doesn't know how to do anything meaningful but spend our father's hard earned money like it's his. And he never seemed to care that he's a man now and needs to stop depending on the company's accounts for his source of living.
Hopefully, my father was able to think that through when he wrote his will.
_
"Zach!"
I turned around to face an angry Sean storming my way.
We had just stepped out of the lawyer's office after listening to the contents of my father's will and obviously, Sean wasn't happy with his inheritance.
He got 10 million dollars and a mansion to go with it while I got our father's company and all its accounts which was quite understandable considering I'm the one with a successful running business while Sean has barely anything to his name.
"You have to give me a share of the company's wealth." I looked at Sean with a slightly raised brow. How unbelievable and half expected of him.
"You joke a lot." I chuckled at his audacity, his unwavering anger not causing me to flinch one bit.
I turned again to leave for the elevator but Sean roughly pulled me back.
"Do I look like I'm joking?"
"Do I look like I care?" I faced Sean and stared coldly at him while I straightened my suit.
"Look, you had the chance Sean. You had a chance to have a share of the company but what did you do? You wasted away your opportunity because of how lazy and ignorant you are. You didn't think that one day, you'll get to fend for yourself did you? Grow up Sean. You're lucky Father was kind enough to give you something and if I were you, I wouldn't go around spending all that money."
I nudged him off with my shoulder and entered the elevator, giving him a sly smirk as the elevator doors closed. He was so pathetic.
2 WEEKS LATER…
ZACH'S POV**
I wanted this inauguration ceremony to get done and over with already. There were a lot of guests considering how much a big name my father was. Several successful business owners attended the ceremony.
Most of them congratulating me on my new office and then later going to discuss amongst themselves.
The only good part of all this was because I got to see my mother. She had divorced with my dad when I was 11 and married someone else, but she still visited three times a year ever since and I wouldn't lie, I missed her everytime she wasn't there.
"Look at my little boy all grown up and now the CEO of a billion dollar company." My mum said as she took me into her arms in a tight hug.
"I missed you too mum." I smiled as she cupped my cheeks, pinching them. My only thought was hoping no one was watching this and thinking it's cute.
"Aww a mother and son union, how cute."
Such perfect timing.
And really, that was the last voice I wanted to hear, if it was Sean it would've been a 100% better. My mum let go of my face and we both turned to who was coming towards us.
My countenance grew cold as my eyes came in contact with bright blue ones.
Sandy Nelson.
A girl that has been throwing herself at me since she knew of my existence. Luckily for her, she got into my mother's good books so she's practically allowed to hover around me as long as my mum is in the room.
She stopped in front of us and swiped her blonde hair out of her eyes,a sweet smile on her lips.
I was already sick of her.
"Good day Mrs. Bradley." She gave my mother a light hug, kissing the both sides of her face.
And then she turned to me.
"Hello Zach."
"That's Mister Dwayne to you, Miss Nelson." I said to her with a harsh tone.
"Do we have to be so formal? We've known each other for so long." She tried to touch my shoulder but I moved away before she made contact.
"Mother, please excuse me." Giving Sandy a hard glare, I left the two of them to themselves.
Sean didn't attend the ceremony, but I didn't expect him to. He has practically disappeared ever since our argument over father's will.
Looking around at the vast hall and the people in it, I knew things weren't go
ing to remain the same after this moment and I was ready for all of it. I hope so.
