Chapter 11 - Shopping with Family

"Anne!"

Ken wasn't as excited as her but still, he nodded at her.

"How are you?"

Anne's original excitement faded when she saw his parents standing by his side. She blushed slightly as she approached him and asked.

"Well, except for losing two weeks of my life, I am alright." Ken chuckled as he replied.

With his memories, it was easy to see that this girl was interested in him.

But they hadn't confessed to each other. So, they were still just friends.

"Sorry!"

Anne apologized immediately when she heard his reply.

"Why are you even apologizing? It's not your fault. Anyway, how are you? You have already reached Middle Stage?"

Ken raised his eyebrows as he said.

"Well, I am getting close to Late Stage. Don't underestimate me!"

Anne proudly raised her nose.

Hearing that, Iris and Alex chuckled because they knew their son had already reached Bronze Rank while Anne was still a Warlock Apprentice.

"By the way, Ken…"

Anne leaned closer to him and whispered.

"I will be leaving with you. I didn't want to disturb you before. Dad told me about your departure, and I agreed to go with you."

As soon as he heard, Ken immediately shook his head.

"No way! I am not going on a vacation."

"Damn it! He also said the same thing. Why can't I go with you? I promise I will reach the Late Stage in two days."

Anne replied with some frustration as she stomped the ground.

"Anne, I am already at Bronze Rank."

Ken replied.

Anne froze, then it clicked.

"Yeah, you woke up twelve days ago. You must've been busy practicing."

Anne's eyes almost turned red with frustration.

"Damn it!"

She stomped the ground but then raised her head.

"No matter what, I will not stand behind you for long. I will definitely catch up with you."

Saying so, she turned around and ran away, not wanting to show her tears to Ken.

"Young Lord, Miss Anne has been practicing day and night." Peter spoke.

Iris felt pity for Anne and turned toward her son.

"Ken, can't you take her with you?"

"Mom, if I take her with me, I will lose my life on the first day. No, both of us will die. I am confident in my survival because of my Magic."

"But until I make a lot of progress with it, I possibly can not take anyone weaker than me."

"By the way, did the second elder talk to you about who will be going with me?"

He had asked for a special person, so he wanted to know who that person could be.

"Yeah, that person will be Commander Josh!" Alex nodded his head and replied.

"You mean, that commander Josh?" Ken was slightly stunned and quickly reacted.

"But didn't he go to some kind of secret mission? Did he return so soon?"

Commander Josh was quite legendary because he was also one of the most talented people in the Grant Family.

He was one of the very few people in the Grant Family with A-Rank talent alongside people like First Elder, Second Elder, and the Head's child.

Anne was the daughter of the Second Elder. The son of the Head was already four years older than they.

He was also at Silver Rank Peak Stage.

Josh was in a similar condition to his. He wasn't a part of the main family, but he became one after revealing his talent.

Because of his previous condition, he was hard hard-working individual and someone who could take a lot of risks.

So, despite being at the same age as First Elder's son, he reached Golden Rank Middle Stage.

The Second Elder and the First Elder had multiple children. Their youngest ones were the most talented.

The First Elder's youngest child was still five years older than Anne. He had also reached Golden Rank.

Josh, Igrim, the son of First Elder, and Atlas, the son of Head, were considered the Three Gems of the Grant family.

But with the addition of Anne, they now had four gems.

As for Ken, he wasn't just considered Gem. Because of his talent, he was either considered a cursed boy or a blessing of god.

Despite their deep-rooted belief in balance, many people still considered talented people the gift's gods.

So, Ken's reputation was mixed.

"Yeah, Commander Josh is supposed to arrive tomorrow." Peter nodded and replied.

"Let's not talk about that. We came to enjoy, Ken."

Iris saw where the topic was going and immediately interrupted. She pulled her husband's hand and her son's hand before leaving the compound.

Their mansion was at the center of the city, so there were a lot of shops.

As a woman, Iris couldn't resist the idea of going shopping. But this time, she wanted to shop more for her son.

Realizing that he was going to leave soon, she wanted to get him a lot of things.

Even if she had to use her husband's wallet for it.

So, the shopping spree began.

They went to different clothes stores first. She asked Ken to choose almost forty different dresses.

And, each one of them was more expensive than the previous one.

Alex could feel a massive hit on his wallet.

If he hadn't recently received a large sum of money from the family because of his son's talent, he wouldn't be able to support this shopping spree.

After buying him clothes, Iris took him around different shops like equipment shops, weapon shops, and even spell shops.

After all, the Grant Family didn't have every spell in the world.

There were many spells that the Grant Family didn't have. And seeing how much Ken loved reading those spells, Iris wanted to buy a lot of them for her son.

Fortunately, she didn't need to buy anything more than the Level Three Spell. Just Level Three was more than enough for him.

And, she bought a lot.

This was good for Ken since these spells gave him new ideas.

By the time they left the shop, it was already nighttime.

And, nighttime was perfect for an assassination attempt.

As soon as they exited the shop, nearly five assassins of Silver Rank appeared.

Six Versus Five.

Only out of six, three of them were at Bronze Rank, while the other three were at Silver Rank.

"This is a big problem. We need to contact the family."

Peter gritted his teeth and immediately took out a small paper that had a rune drawn on it.

"Hold up, Peter!"

Ken suddenly pressed his hand on Peter's shoulder and walked in front of him.

"Let me cook!"

"Young Lord, you can't be careless this time." Peter's eyes widened as he hurriedly informed him.

"Ken, what are you doing?"

Iris scolded her son, but Alex held his wife's hand and said.

"As our son said, let him cook! Although I am not sure how this is connected to food."

Iris clenched her fist and smacked her husband's head.

"You still have the mood to joke. He is taking too much risk."

Alex didn't care about the punch; instead, he put on a serious expression and spoke.

"Iris, you have to understand something. We are too weak to help him. From here on now, only he can help himself."

"Trust me! I am also feeling the same as you. But, everything from now on, it's his battle."

When she heard her husband's words, Iris turned silent and tightened her grip around his hand.

But she didn't argue, nor did she say a word.

Hearing their conversation, Peter also realized Ken's situation. Looking at the young man in front of him, he decided to put his trust in him.

The other two guards looked at him for instructions, and he nodded.

"Don't be careless!"

All five of the assassins were wearing black masks like ninjas. The one in the middle continued.

"This monster has a record of killing two Silver Rank."

Five of them instantly gripped their blades tightly as they stared at Ken.

They didn't launch themselves forward; instead, they waited, like snakes waiting for their prey.

Seeing this, Ken took a deep breath as his mana flared. He knew there were several ways he could fight them, but he also wanted to test his limits.

Because he had people protecting him.

If this happened when he was alone, he would never take such a risk until it was a life and death situation.

But in this condition, it was a perfect moment for him to test the limit of his imagination and the limit of his creation.

He didn't just create items.

He could also create a phenomenon. In other words, he could create disasters by inciting certain events in his mind.

Would it come to reality? He wasn't sure. But he absolutely wanted to test it.

He raised his finger, pointing the blue mana at the middle assassin as he closed his eyes and whispered.

[Thought Creation Magic]

[Gravity Well]
