Kaia's eyes slowly fluttered open, her vision was blurry and her head ached, she placed a hand on her head, darting her eyes across the unfamiliar room she laid in.
"Is my princess awake?" Zayne's husky voice came in, her eyes widened as he strolled in, his right hand tucked away in his pocket.
"Are you feeling dizzy, wifey??" He smirked, caressing her face with his finger. She almost gagged at his touch, she slowly dropped her hand, raising her head to take a glance at the demon in front of her
Zayne's dark hair fell over his forehead, framing his sharp features, and his piercing eyes glinted with a mix of mischief and something more sinister.
"What do you want?" Kaia croaked, her throat dry and scratchy. She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, forcing her to lie back down.
"Just checking on my favorite little captive," he replied, his tone dripping with mock affection. "You've been out for a while. I was starting to worry you might not wake up at all."
Kaia's heart raced as she recalled the last thing she remembered—being dragged into the darkness, the feeling of cold metal against her skin, and Zayne's laughter echoing in her ears. Panic surged through her, and she pushed herself up again, this time more determined.
"Let me go," she demanded, her voice stronger now, though it trembled slightly.
Zayne chuckled, leaning against the doorframe with an air of casual confidence. "Oh, but where's the fun in that? You're far too interesting to just let go. Besides, we have so much to discuss."
"Discuss?" Kaia scoffed, her anger flaring. "You think I want to talk to you? You're a monster!"
His smile widened, revealing a hint of sharp teeth. "A monster, perhaps. But I'm your monster now, wifey. And you're going to learn to love it."
Kaia's stomach churned at his words. She glanced around the room, searching for anything she could use as a weapon or a means of escape. The walls were bare, the only furniture a small table and a chair in the corner.
"Why are you doing this?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Zayne stepped closer, his expression shifting from playful to serious. "Because you're special, Kaia. You have something I need, and I'm not letting you go until I get it."
"What could I possibly have that you want?" she shot back, trying to mask her fear with defiance.
He leaned in, his breath warm against her skin. "You'll find out soon enough. But for now, just rest. You'll need your strength."
With that, he turned and walked out of the room, leaving Kaia alone with her racing thoughts.
"Dees he want to fuck me??" Her eyes widened as she jolted. No it can't be…
"Princess….are you hungry??" Zayne asked, walking into the room with a tray in his hand.
"Zayne...please listen, I'll pay you back your money, I promise, just let me go" she pleases, her eyes glistened as she peered at him, he chuckled, throwing his head back
"I love to watch you beg darling, I could do this all day" he smirked, licking his lips.
"Why are you doing this??"
"Because you owe me princess, and you have two more days until your grace elapses. I know you don't even have a million, so you have no choice but to marry me!!" His husky voice sank into her
"How will I get the money if I'm trapped here…" she shifted her eyes to meet his devouring gaze
"You're gonna run away" he muttered, leaning in.
"Zayne..." she called out, her voice brittle "I can't live without Eira by my side, my stepmother is gonna make her suffer!!" She shrieked, tears streaming down her cheeks. The weight of her predicament pressed heavily on her chest, and she felt the walls of the dimly lit room closing in around her.
Zayne's expression softened for a moment, the fierce determination in his eyes wavering as he took in her distress. "I understand how much she means to you," he said, his voice low and steady. "But you have to think about your own future too. If you don't marry me, you'll lose everything. Eira will be left to fend for herself, and your stepmother will make sure of that."
She shook her head, the thought of abandoning Eira gnawing at her insides. "I can't just leave her behind. She's all I have left. I promised I would protect her"
"Princess…..listen, this isn't your fault, okay, if anything happens, it'll be your father's fault for owing so much debt" Zayne smirked, nor coating his harsh words
"Just let me go, I'll pay you I swear"
"You have just two days until your grace elapses, you don't even have a million, and you'll have to marry me, wifey"
"What part of 'i can't marry you" don't you understand Zayne?, just leave me alone"
Zayne leaned back against the wall, arms crossed, a smug grin plastered on his face. "You think I'm going to let you off that easily? You're a princess, Kaia. You're worth more to me as my wife than as a debtor."
Kaia's heart raced, a mix of anger and desperation coursing through her veins. "You can't be serious! This is my life we're talking about! You're just using my father's mistakes against me."
"Exactly," he replied, his tone dripping with mockery. "And it's a brilliant strategy, if I do say so myself. You see, marrying you not only secures my financial future, but it also gives me a title. I'd be a prince in my own right."
"Zayne, you're a monster," she spat, her voice trembling with emotion. "You're willing to ruin my life for money and power?"
He stepped closer, his expression shifting from amusement to something more serious. "You think I want to ruin your life? I'm giving you a choice. You can either marry me and live in luxury, or you can face the consequences of your father's debts. It's your call."
Kaia felt the weight of his words pressing down on her. She had always been taught to be strong, to stand up for herself, but in this moment, she felt utterly powerless. "And if I refuse?"
"Then I'll make sure you suffer Kaia, you'll be a laughingstock, and your father will lose everything. You really want that on your conscience?"
She looked away, biting her lip to hold back tears. "You're a cruel man, Zayne."
"Cruel? Or just practical?" He shrugged, his smirk returning. "You have two days, Kaia. Think wisely. I'll be waiting." he turned on his heel
"Just let me see my sister, okay"
No"
"You horrible dick!!, I'll get you your fuckin money if you'd let me go!" She snapped, she had lost it
"Get out" he commanded, striding out, not even glancing at her. She scurried off the bed, oblivious to the fact that she being watched. The cold night air hit her like a slap, but she didn't care. All that mattered was finding her sister and getting out of this nightmare.
Kaia sprinted down the long driveway, her heart pounding in her chest. She could hear the distant sound of laughter and music from the party inside the mansion, a stark contrast to the chaos swirling in her mind. She had to think, had to come up with a plan.
As she reached the gates, she paused, glancing back at the imposing structure. The man who had just toyed with her life was inside, reveling in his power. She felt a surge of anger. How could he be so cruel?
"Think wisely," he had said. But what did that even mean? She had no intention of marrying him, no matter what it took.
Kaia took a deep breath and turned away from the mansion, her resolve hardening. She needed Sirs to be safe
She pulled out her phone, her fingers trembling as she scrolled through her contacts. She dialed Eira's number
"Come on, pick up," she muttered, pacing back and forth. After what felt like an eternity, Eiras voice came through the line, laced with concern.
" Sister Kaia? What's wrong?"
"Where are you??" She snapped
"Im at a friend's"
"What friend??"
"Mia" she confirmed, an idea struck Kaia
"Don't leave that house, okay, have a sleepover, goodnight" she said, her mind racing with possibilities. She had to be smart about this. She couldn't let that monster get to her sister first.
As she hung up, she felt a flicker of hope. Maybe she could outsmart him.
