Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Holy Sword vs. Divine Strike

Chapter 76: Holy Sword vs. Divine Strike

"Is this the power of the Goddess?"

After witnessing the miracle descended by the Goddess once more, the Skywing Clan Warriors became even more fanatical. Their voices rose in fevered whispers, eyes gleaming with religious fervour as they watched the light fade from the devastated landscape below.

However, they wondered why the Goddess had specifically descended on another oracle, commanding them to kill all creatures in the Dwarf Ruins. Could there truly be creatures that survived a God Strike?

The very thought sent ripples of unease through their ranks. What being could withstand the wrath of their deity?

When the Skywing Clan army returned above the Dwarf Ruins and saw Kurtz and his group, they finally understood.

There truly were creatures that could withstand a God Strike!

"One Elf, one Dwarf, and three... humans."

The core member of the Thirteen Council, leading them, looked at Kurtz and his group and spoke coldly. Her voice cut across the ruins, each word deliberate and sharp.

The Skywing Clan had long lifespans, and as a core member of the Thirteen Council, she had naturally seen humans before, so she immediately recognised Kurtz and the others. Her gaze lingered dismissively on the mortal faces below, cataloguing them like insects that had somehow survived being stepped on.

However, in her eyes, apart from the Elf, the others were insignificant.

But among the Thirteen Council members, young-looking blonde Olivia showed confusion when she saw Serie. Her brow furrowed slightly, wings shifting with tension.

She didn't know why Serie was here.

But even if the two knew each other, it couldn't change the Thirteen Council's decision, and she couldn't even ask for the reason.

"Olivia! What are you spacing out for?" The Council Leader's cold shout startled her back from her confusion.

"Council Leader, that Elf... is a famous genius spellcaster of the Elves," Olivia said, choosing her words carefully. Her voice trembled, a detail that didn't escape the leader's sharp attention.

She didn't know why the Goddess had given such a command. Their Skywing Clan had already allied with the Elves.

If they killed such a renowned genius, it was very likely to trigger another war.

"Obey the command of the Divine Oracle! Olivia, as the Goddess's blade, you should not have too much self-awareness."

As the Goddess's most intimate dependents, their Skywing Clan must unconditionally obey all commands; even if the Goddess ordered them to use a God Strike on the Elf Forest itself, they had to follow.

And Olivia had clearly developed inappropriate thoughts.

This was a terrible thing.

After all, she was still too young and needed more training.

Withdrawing her gaze from Olivia, the Council Leader looked at the other members. "The large barrier has been deployed."

"Everyone is ready. Should we launch another God Strike?"

The Goddess's command was to kill all creatures in the Dwarf Ruins, but after the previous round of God Strike, only these few people remained in the entire ruins.

It was clear that the Goddess was targeting these specific creatures.

Although they didn't know what crimes these creatures had committed to warrant the Goddess personally descending as an oracle, even going so far as to use her power to replenish their magic quickly, these were not things they should consider.

If one God Strike couldn't eliminate these creatures, then they would launch another one!

Let these blasphemers who incurred the Goddess's wrath completely disappear from this world!

On the other side, Kurtz and his group naturally saw the Skywing Clan army that had returned. A thousand wings darkened the sky above them.

Especially after these Skywing Clan members assumed an attacking stance, their purpose was obvious.

"They've come to silence us," Norn said with a bitter smile. His hand instinctively moved to his sword hilt.

They had just acquired Orger, the Sword of Divine Authority, not long ago, then suffered a God Strike, and now they were surrounded by the Skywing Clan army.

The former could barely be explained by the Skywing Clan wanting to ambush the Demon Clan's lair, but the latter was completely unexplainable.

Is this the power of the Divine Wrath?

Norn felt as if everything they did was under the Divine Goddess's gaze, which sent shivers down his spine. The sensation was like being watched by something vast and judging.

The leading member of the Thirteen Council hovered high in the sky, and her cold voice reached Kurtz and the others: "By the Goddess's oracle, execute the blasphemers!"

Thousands of Skywing Clan Warriors simultaneously released magic, and the super-large magic circle unfolded once again. The air itself trembled as power gathered, reality warping under the strain.

Even from such a distance, everyone could feel that destructive power. It pressed against their skin like heat from a forge.

"Again!?" Eric's face turned pale, sweat beading despite the chill in the air. "Can this thing be used so casually?"

"Impossible! The Goddess must have helped these guys restore their magic!" Serie cursed under her breath, but Kurtz caught the slight tremor in her voice, the first crack in her usual composure.

The Skywing Clan's God Strike was absolutely impossible to cast consecutively; otherwise, what would be the point of resistance? Everyone would just surrender.

In fact, every time the Skywing Clan used a God Strike, they would experience a period of weakness lasting several months.

Historically, there was an incident where a race took the opportunity to ambush the Skywing Clan's Divine Kingdom after they had used a God Strike, causing losses to the entire Skywing Clan.

Since then, unless the Goddess personally gave the order, the Skywing Clan would not use a God Strike.

Norn drew his longsword, the familiar weight grounding him. He and Eric also knew how to use magic barriers. At this moment, he prepared to join Kurtz and Serie in resisting the incoming God Strike.

Serie's expression was grim, and she raised a magic barrier instantly. The spell formed around her like crystalline walls.

However, she had no confidence at all in whether it could withstand a God Strike. For the first time in centuries, Serie felt genuine fear creeping in.

Just the aftermath of the God Strike earlier had almost wiped out the group. If it weren't for Orger intervening, they wouldn't be standing here at all.

And now, what they had to face was a God Strike at its full power.

Serie could clearly hear her own heartbeat, a violent thumping in the face of death. Each beat echoed like thunder.

But this time, Kurtz unexpectedly took a step forward: "Serie, let's do this together!"

His voice cut through her spiralling thoughts, steady and determined. There was something different in his tone, not uncertainty, but quiet resolve.

He handed El's light to Serie, while he himself raised Orger high, and the runes on the sword's body blazed to life one by one. Each symbol flared like a star, and with their awakening came pressure that thickened the air.

Power spread out from him, twisting the surrounding air. Kurtz gritted his teeth as the sword's energy flowed through him, not just magic, but something deeper and more dangerous.

This was the weight of wielding a weapon meant to kill gods.

Serie immediately recognised that Kurtz was using the same move he used to test el's light, only this time it was with Orger, the Sword of Divine Authority. But the scale was completely different, like comparing a candle flame to a raging inferno.

Unlike simply channelling magic into El's light and releasing it as a surge, it seemed Orger had a specialised technique.

Serie didn't hesitate and immediately took El's light, raising it high as well. The familiar weight of the legendary blade felt different now, charged with purpose and desperation.

Channelling and releasing magic was not difficult, especially since Serie's magic had completely recovered. In an instant, el's light also released brilliant radiance, its power joining with Orger's.

The two forces converged above their heads, finally coalescing through Orger into a single beam of light, a silver-blue radiance soaring into the sky. The very air around them began to shimmer and distort.

"Holy Sword, unfold!"

Kurtz held Orger, the Sword of Divine Authority, horizontally in front of his chest. His voice carried weight that surprised even him, as if the sword itself was speaking through his throat. To unleash Orger's full power, it had to be against a Divine Lord or their dependents.

And the Skywing Clan above happened to be within this range.

The scale of the silver-white light beam even surpassed the Skywing Clan's God Strike formation. It rose like a pillar connecting earth to heaven.

"This... this is..." Somo was dumbfounded, his usual dwarven composure cracking as he witnessed power that belonged in legends.

"This is the true power of the Divine Authority Sword..." Norn murmured, awe and terror warring in his voice. "That power capable of slaying a Divine Lord."

The Skywing Clan in the high sky clearly felt the threat. The very air around them seemed to recoil from the ascending power, and several of the younger warriors faltered in their formation.

The Council member shouted sharply: "Everyone, release all your magic!" But even her commanding voice carried a note of fear.

Thousands of white lights converged into a massive pillar of light, plummeting towards Kurtz and the others. The God Strike descended once more.

At the same time, Kurtz and Serie also swung down the Holy Swords in their hands.

The moment stretched, two forces of terrible power hurtling toward collision.

BOOM!

The silver-blue pillar of light collided with the white pillar of light in mid-air.

In an instant, heaven and earth lost their original colours, and a shockwave swept in all directions. The fabric of reality seemed to tear at the point of impact, sending ripples of distorted space radiating outward.

The few remaining trees around the Dwarf Ruins were uprooted, and the deep pit once again cracked with countless ravines. Stone turned to powder, and metal screamed as it was torn apart.

Norn and Eric struggled to maintain their magic barriers, both of them half-kneeling on the ground under such power. Blood trickled from Eric's nose as his barrier wavered, while Norn's sword arm shook with strain.

After the two forces stalemated for a few seconds, the white pillar of light gradually began to dissipate. The Skywing Clan Warriors discovered with horror that their God Strike was being pushed back little by little!

"Impossible!" The Council member shrieked, her composure finally shattering. "How can mortals contend against the power of a Divine Lord!"

But even as she denied it, she could see the truth blazing before her eyes; their authority was being overcome.

Kurtz gritted his teeth, gripping the sword with both hands and pushing with renewed force. Every muscle in his body burned as he channelled more power through Orger, feeling as though he might be torn apart from within. But he held on, drawing on reserves of will he didn't know he possessed.

BOOM!

The silver-blue beam completely split open the God Strike light pillar, and its momentum undiminished, it slashed towards the Skywing Clan army.

The Thirteen Council members hastily joined forces to construct a defensive barrier, but it was shattered the moment it made contact; their combined might was nothing before the wrath of a weapon forged to humble gods.

A dazzling ball of light exploded in the sky, and countless pure white feathers drifted down like snow.

When the light dissipated, the formerly orderly Skywing Clan army was scattered, having suffered heavy losses.

"We... won?" Eric rubbed his eyes in disbelief, his voice small in the sudden quiet.

"Looks like it." Kurtz's body weakly fell backwards, but Somo caught him, the dwarf's strong arms steady despite his own exhaustion.

"Well done!" Somo praised sincerely, though his voice carried awe.

Throughout history, there were records of more than one God Strike by the Skywing Clan, and each God Strike would destroy a nation or even an army.

It could be said that the God Strike was the strongest magic spell in this world.

And now, this move had been directly broken by Kurtz and Serie working together.

It was truly beyond imagination!

If they live through this, then surely this event will be recorded in historical texts for the next thousand years.
