London, Britain, Westminster, Charing Cross.
The entrance to Diagon Alley, the Leaky Cauldron, is located here. The pub looks run-down, with a medieval decor that appears particularly eerie and terrifying without sunlight.
Inside the Leaky Cauldron, it was lunchtime, so there were many customers. They were eating, drinking beer, and exchanging recent news.
A middle-aged man with almost no hair and an aged appearance was wiping glasses behind the bar.
His name is Tom Abbott, a member of the Abbott Family, a pure-blood family ranked among the Sacred Twenty-Eight. The Leaky Cauldron is property of the Abbott Family, and Old Tom has been its owner for many years.
"Bang!"
With a loud bang, a ball of red flame ignited in the pub. As the flames died down, the figures of Augustus Dumbledore appeared in the pub.
"Oh, look who it is, Headmaster Dumbledore, are you also here to relax at the Leaky Cauldron?"
Old Tom, seeing Dumbledore, asked with great joy and excitement.
"Good afternoon, Tom. No, I'm here today to accompany my grandson, Augustus, to buy his school supplies. This is my grandson, Augustus Dumbledore."
After Dumbledore finished speaking, he patted Augustus's shoulder and introduced him to Old Tom.
Augustus reluctantly performed a gentleman's bow to Old Tom.
"Dumbledore! This is your grandson, a bloodline of the Dumbledore Family! Merlin's beard! I never knew your Dumbledore Family had a new member. I'm truly surprised."
Old Tom said excitedly, then grabbed Augustus's hand and shook it frantically, continuing.
"Young Mr. Dumbledore, you are truly a handsome Little Wizard. You will surely become a great Wizard like Headmaster Dumbledore. Have you had lunch yet? If not, you can have some here."
"Thank you, but we still need to go shopping in Diagon Alley, and we need to get back early."
Augustus replied.
"Right, every Little Wizard wants to go to Diagon Alley quickly. Is this your first time?"
Old Tom said.
Augustus nodded slightly. Seeing Augustus's gesture, Old Tom said excitedly.
"Then allow me to guide you. Merlin's underpants! I never thought I would have the honor of guiding a new Dumbledore, sir."
Old Tom led the two to the backyard of the Leaky Cauldron. It was a secluded courtyard, with nothing but a trash can and some weeds.
Old Tom stepped forward, took out his wand, and counted three times vertically on the trash can, then two times horizontally. Then he tapped that brick three times with his wand, and the wall instantly shook. The bricks began to move to both sides, finally revealing a passage.
"Diagon Alley. I hope you have a pleasant afternoon."
Old Tom pointed to the street ahead and said softly.
"Augustus, let's go."
Dumbledore entered Diagon Alley, and Augustus followed closely behind him.
The passage behind them gradually narrowed, then reverted to a solid wall.
Since it was midday, there weren't many pedestrians on the street, but all the shops were already open.
"What do you want to buy first?"
Dumbledore asked.
"Let's not talk about what to buy first. All my belongings are still in the United States. I don't have money to buy things. Shouldn't the Principal of Hogwarts provide some funding?"
Augustus said slowly.
Dumbledore felt a sharp pain in his heart and said with difficulty, "How much do you want?"
Augustus thought for a moment and said with a smile.
"You've already said I'm your grandson, so I'm also a member of the Dumbledore Family. To maintain the family's honor, money certainly can't be an issue. How about this: besides school supplies, give me 10,000 Galleons a year."
Upon hearing this, Dumbledore's vision went black, and he nearly fainted. He said with difficulty.
"A maximum of 100 Galleons a year. This old man doesn't have much in his pension. Please be considerate."
Augustus was displeased upon hearing this. Was he being treated like a beggar? The money I left in the United States, that one operation alone was 100,000 US dollars. 100 Galleons is only about 500 British pounds. No, absolutely not.
So, the old man and the young man haggled as they walked, finally reaching an agreement: Augustus would receive 1,000 Galleons annually, but Dumbledore would have to find a way to transfer his assets remaining in the United States to Eagle Garden.
Dumbledore led Augustus into Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. As they entered, Madam Malkin greeted them. She was a short, plump woman with a kind face and a welcoming smile, wearing a violet robe.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, are you buying new clothes? Don't worry, we have the best here in Diagon Alley."
"No, Madam, it's for my grandson. He needs a Hogwarts uniform tailored. He's also going to school."
Dumbledore replied with a smile.
"Oh, a new member of the Dumbledore Family! My dear, you are truly handsome. All right, please stand up here. Don't be shy, darling."
Madam Malkin said with a smile, then had Augustus stand on a stool. A self-measuring tape then flew to Augustus and began taking his measurements.
"Oh, no need to rush, dear, it'll be done quickly. By the way, what fabric would you like it made from?"
After hearing this, Augustus looked at his dear grandfather and said with a sneer.
"Not the best, only the most expensive. My grandfather is the Principal of Hogwarts; how could he be short on money? Oh, and I also need a ready-to-wear robe to take with me now."
"Oh, of course, no problem."
Madam Malkin said with a beaming smile, then happily went to the back of the shop.
Dumbledore looked at the little bastard in front of him with a dark expression, thinking that his meager pension might not be safe.
Madam Malkin soon returned, carrying a black robe that clearly looked expensive. She smiled and said to Augustus.
"Come try it on. If there are any issues, I'll adjust it."
Augustus took the robe from Madam Malkin's hand and changed into it in the fitting room. When Augustus, wearing his new Wizard robe, stood before the two, both their eyes lit up.
His perfect physique, combined with a face that could charm all beings, and accentuated by the perfectly tailored robe, made him incredibly handsome.
"Oh, my dear, you are truly the most handsome Little Wizard I have ever seen."
Madam Malkin clutched her chest, looking as if she might faint.
"Thank you, your craftsmanship is also excellent, Madam."
Augustus sincerely thanked her. Madam Malkin's Robes, as a designated partner of Hogwarts, not only had the best craftsmanship but also thrived due to the small population of the Magical World.
After all, as Diagon Alley, the most prosperous shopping street in Britain's Magical World, there were many clothing stores.
After politely declining Madam Malkin's request for a photo shoot to be used as a model for her shop, the grandfather and grandson left Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions and stood on the street of Diagon Alley. Dumbledore smiled at Augustus and said.
"This outfit suits you very well. Now, what do you want to buy?"
Augustus thought for a moment and replied.
"A wand, of course, Grandfather."
