Jungkook's hands shook as the diary slipped to the floor.
The words he had just read echoed in his mind:
"If he ever rejects me… I'll never let him go."
His chest tightened. Fear and uncertainty tangled with a strange pull he didn't understand—every time Taehyung's name crossed his thoughts, a quiet tension stirred.
A cold gust rattled the window, and the candle flickered. Jungkook's eyes widened—Taehyung was there, framed by the moonlight. His gaze was calm, intense, almost unreadable.
"Why are you here?" Jungkook whispered.
"Because you read it," Taehyung said, stepping closer. His presence was strong, yet not threatening.
Jungkook tried to move back, but something kept him still. Taehyung's steady gaze held him in place.
"I told you," Taehyung said softly, "I'll always be with you."
He reached out, brushing a stray hair from Jungkook's forehead. Simple, caring—but it sent a shiver through Jungkook.
"I don't want to hurt you," Taehyung murmured. "But I won't let anyone take you away."
For a moment, Jungkook felt a strange sense of safety in his words.
The room was quiet. Their breaths mingled, and an invisible connection seemed to pull them closer.
"…Taehyung," Jungkook whispered.
A faint smile appeared on Taehyung's lips. "I've been waiting to hear you say that."
He moved closer, enough that Jungkook could feel his warmth.
Suddenly, a breeze flickered the candle, and the diary's pages shifted on their own.
Jungkook's heart raced. He looked around, but Taehyung was no longer at the window.
"Taehyung?" he called softly.
From behind came the calm voice: "I'm right here."
Jungkook turned. Taehyung stood a few steps away, expression serious, but gentle. No force—just presence.
"You don't have to be afraid," Taehyung said. "I'll stay by your side."
For the first time, Jungkook relaxed into the quiet tension of the night. Fear and uncertainty were still there—but he knew some bonds, intense and complicated, were meant to endure.
