Chapter 2 - THE SHADOW OF LOVE

It was 3 a.m.

The world outside was silent. The only sound was the howling wind, banging against windows and doors.

Jungkook sat alone in his dimly lit room, the pale glow of his laptop screen reflecting on his tired face. He had been watching a horror documentary, and now, every nerve in his body felt heavy.

Even though his eyes burned with exhaustion, sleep wouldn't come. With a sigh, he closed his laptop, switched off the light, and lay down on his bed.

And then… he saw it.

A shadow.

Standing outside his window.

Perfectly still. Perfectly silent. Staring at him.

Jungkook's heart froze.

"It's just exhaustion," he whispered to himself. "I'm imagining things."

But when he blinked again, the shadow was still there. Watching. Waiting.

Gathering his courage, he muttered—

"Who's there?"

The wind roared louder. Trees swayed violently. But no voice answered.

And when he blinked again—

The shadow was gone.

---

The next morning, Jungkook convinced himself it was just his mind playing tricks. He brushed it off, grabbed his bag, and left for college.

Campus life felt normal again. His friends were laughing, the sun was bright, but among them… one person stood out.

Taehyung.

Taehyung always carried an air of mystery. His eyes seemed to hide something—sometimes a strange smirk, sometimes an unspoken sadness. And whenever Jungkook spoke, Taehyung's gaze would linger on him, sharp and unshakable.

Almost as if Jungkook was the only person who existed in his world.

---

That evening, Jungkook was heading back to his dorm. The streets were busy, cars rushing by. He stepped off the curb to cross the road—when suddenly, a car came speeding straight at him.

He froze. His heart stopped.

But just before impact, a hand yanked him back—hard. Jungkook fell onto the ground, gasping for air.

It was Taehyung.

Taehyung's hand was still clutching his wrist tightly, his eyes glinting with something Jungkook couldn't place. Relief? Possession? Obsession?

Breathless, Jungkook stammered—

"You… you just happened to be here at the right time?"

Taehyung's lips curved into a faint smile.

"Because I'm always with you."

Jungkook forced a nervous laugh, brushing it off as just a dramatic line. But somewhere deep inside, the words echoed…

Always with you.

---

That night, unease settled over Jungkook like a second skin. He had shut his window tight, but still… it felt like someone was watching him. His heartbeat refused to slow.

And then his eyes fell on his desk.

A diary was sitting there.

Confused, Jungkook picked it up and flipped through the pages. At first, he thought it was his old journal… until he actually read the words.

"7:45 p.m. – Jungkook left the library.

8:10 p.m. – Jungkook ordered black coffee at the cafeteria.

9:02 p.m. – Jungkook paused at his door, lost in thought.

9:05 p.m. – Jungkook turned off his lights."

His blood ran cold.

Every detail of his day. Every moment. Every movement. Written down.

His hands trembled as he turned to the last page.

"Tonight… Jungkook will finally realize how much I love him.

And if he dares to reject me…

I will never let him go.

Never."

And that's when he recognized it.

The handwriting.

It wasn't a stranger's. It wasn't random.

It was Taehyung's handwriting.
