I woke up slow, the morning light slipping through the curtains like a gentle whispering. Bambi was next to me, her body curled against mine, her breathing soft and even. Her brunette hair spread out on the pillow, catching the sun in little waves. I didn't move right away. Just lay there, feeling her warmth. The Onyx Power inside me hummed, steadily so, like a calm river instead of the wild storm it used to be. Before her, it raged, it was always tearing at my edges, reminding me of all the pain I'd buried. But now? It was stable. Because of her. My true mate.
