Bambi's POV
I lay on the bed after Sable left. The door clicked shut soft behind her. The room was quiet again. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, warm on my skin. I stared at the ceiling. Cracks like little rivers up there.
Sable's words sounded in my head. "I'm sorry." And mine: "I forgive you." It felt good. Like a weight lifted. We'd been friends for so long. Back in the servant quarters, whispering secrets in the dark. Giggling about silly things. Like that time we stole extra bread from the kitchen and hid under the stairs to eat it.
But things were different now. The bond with Dawn. It changed me. I felt it in my bones. Stronger. Fiercer. When I threw Sable against the wall yesterday, it scared me. But today, talking to her, I saw it differently. The power wasn't just his. It was ours. Sharing. Making me better. Not a monster, like she said before. Just... more.
