Chapter 41 - Toxins, Hot Dogs, and Saving the World

In the underground lab beneath the Villa, dim lights illuminated various precise instruments and technological devices. Tony Stark sat before his workbench, his gaze somewhat heavy. He lowered his head, looking at the arc reactor on his chest, his fingers slowly tracing the faintly glowing blue circle. Behind him, Jarvis's voice rang out softly and clearly in the room, carrying a hint of mechanical calm.

"Mr., according to the latest blood analysis report, the toxin level has reached a critical point. Continued use of the arc reactor will only accelerate the spread of toxins."

Tony took a deep breath, raising his head to look at the analysis data displayed on the screen. He wore his signature cynical smile, though a hint of fatigue flickered in his eyes. "Yeah, I already know. Honestly, Jarvis, if I could find a replacement sooner, I wouldn't be walking around like a 'radiation doll' right now."

He chuckled self-deprecatingly, then shrugged: "But this thing still looks pretty cool, doesn't it? I could almost go to a Halloween party dressed as an undead lantern head."

Jarvis did not respond immediately. Instead, he remained mechanically silent for a moment before replying in his uniquely calm tone: "Unfortunately, Mr., my database does not contain any costume recommendations related to 'undead lantern head'. However, if you require it, I can arrange for the order of a custom costume matching your description."

Tony almost threw the tool in his hand upon hearing this, unable to help but laugh and curse: "You really are a bastard program, always hitting the nail on the head."

He shook his head helplessly, but the smile on his face didn't completely disappear. He reached for the glass on the table, took a sip of whiskey, and then placed the glass back down heavily, making a crisp clinking sound. He glanced at the screen; the toxin level data glowed an unsettling red.

"Hey, Jarvis, if I really... fall down one day, suddenly die on the workbench, you have to do me a favor." Tony tilted his head slightly, looking at Jarvis's interface icon displayed on the virtual screen in the air. His voice was slightly teasing, yet carried an unspeakable heaviness. "Take good care of Pepper for me, don't let her cry over me all day. Oh, and tell that guy Dominic, he has to watch over Stark Industries for me. Don't let those politicians turn the company into some kind of 'government security program'."

Jarvis quickly analyzed the statement and responded: "Mr., based on your historical data analysis, the probability of this situation occurring is slightly above 45%. I suggest recording this matter in your will to ensure its legal validity."

Tony was completely amused upon hearing this and couldn't help but burst out laughing. He raised his hand and lightly tapped the table with his knuckles. "Jarvis, you're absolutely brilliant! You're using statistics to talk to me about post-mortem arrangements? When did you, you bastard program, become so cold-blooded?"

"Since the day you told me 'don't be too serious when you speak, or it's too boring', Mr." Jarvis replied emotionlessly. "Furthermore, if you truly do not wish for Dominic to manage the company, you could consider selecting other candidates."

Tony rolled his eyes helplessly and waved his hand: "Alright, alright, stop hitting me with data. I was just joking. When I really 'kick the bucket', you can just find any spaceship and send my ashes to Mars. At least that's much more dignified than being used as dissection material by these Doctors."

"That can be arranged, Mr." Jarvis maintained his calm tone, then added with a slightly "considerate" tone: "As for the arc reactor's toxin problem, perhaps you need more time to consider alternative solutions. If needed, I can also arrange a 'undead lantern head' themed life experience for you at any time."

Tony was completely amused by this sentence. He pointed at the virtual screen and laughed helplessly: "You stubborn old fellow, always so humorous." He paused, took a deep breath, and his gaze fixed on the virtual screen flickering with data streams in the air, his eyes deepening slightly.

"But anyway, Jarvis, we have to find a solution, or I really don't want to turn into an 'undead lantern head'. I know there are many people in this World waiting to see me fall, but I won't let them get their wish." He said, his lips curving upwards, revealing that confident smile unique to Tony Stark.

Jarvis responded calmly: "Understood, Mr.. Please allow me to continue analyzing existing alternative energy solutions. I believe you will still find the answer in your unique way."

Tony smiled slightly and whispered softly: "Of course."

After staying up all night, Tony Stark was still sitting at the workbench in the lab, his eyes bloodshot and his face exceptionally pale. Several coffee cups on the table were empty, and the virtual screen beside him was still flashing with countless complex data and formulas. Tony stared at the screen, his eyes revealing a trace of despair and exhaustion.

Jarvis's voice echoed in the quiet lab, carrying that calm, emotionless tone: "Mr., according to the latest body scan data, your toxin level has exceeded the warning line, and your physical fatigue is in a critical state. I recommend you rest immediately and avoid overexertion as much as possible."

Tony raised his head and forced a smile, the expression on his face somewhat strained and helpless: "Rest? Ha, Jarvis, as you can see, where do I have time to rest?" He took a deep breath, then chuckled self-deprecatingly. "It seems... throwing a few more parties would be a good option. At least that way everyone will remember that I, Tony Stark, didn't 'die from poison', but 'died from partying'."

He paused, his gaze relaxing slightly, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips: "Or maybe I'll just let Dominic take me for a spin, let me experience what it feels like to be on the 'Superhero Express'. Who knows, I might even run into an alien up there and have a grand cosmic adventure."

Jarvis listened quietly, paused for a moment, then interrupted Tony's thoughts: "Mr., a new message has just been received. Nick Fury has requested to meet you tomorrow morning at eight o'clock at 'Frank's Hot Dog Stand'."

Upon hearing this, Tony looked up at the virtual screen, a hint of surprise in his eyes, followed by a helpless sigh: "Nick Fury? What 'save the World' project is it this time? He sure knows how to pick a time. No lab meeting at three-thirty in the morning, but now he wants to meet me at a hot dog stand." He shook his head with a bitter smile. "Fine, eating a hot dog is better than drinking coffee after coffee here."

Jarvis maintained his calm, unruffled tone: "I will arrange the schedule for tomorrow morning, Mr.. However, before that, I still recommend you get at least four hours of sleep, or take a suitable amount of sedatives as advised by a Doctor, to ensure you are clear-headed during the meeting."

Tony leaned back in his chair, his eyes showing a hint of weariness. He gently rubbed his temples with his fingers and muttered to himself: "Sleep... hmm, I definitely need it. It feels like I haven't had a good night's sleep in a while." But soon, he chuckled self-deprecatingly again. "However, I am looking forward to this hot dog breakfast tomorrow. I hope Nick isn't going to bother me with some boring stuff again."

He closed his eyes and was silent for a moment, as if contemplating something, then said softly: "Alright, Jarvis, arrange it first. After all, I'm a man of my word, whether it's saving the World or eating a hot dog."

Jarvis's voice sounded again, still calm and steady: "Understood, Mr.. I will ensure the schedule for tomorrow morning proceeds smoothly. Now, please go to sleep as soon as possible."
