Ladies and gentlemen, hello everyone.
Today, I am honored, as a Son of the Emperor, to be here with the 63rd Expeditionary Fleet, to tell the story of me and my friends from the Warp.
In the Warp, I can hear all sorts of screams.
[Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!]
That's Khorne.
[To know much is to desire to know more. To know more is to be thirsty for knowledge. Only Holy Tzeentch can free you from this predicament.]
That's Tzeentch.
[Seven plagues! Seven calamities! Seven blessings!]
That's Nurgle.
[Some audio that cannot pass censorship]
?!
Slaanesh, shut up!
Of course, that was just a joke.
Under the protection of the Geller Field, the evil whispers of daemons are all blocked out.
Even if some stray daemons want to pass through the veil for a feast, their bodies will disintegrate into the dust of this soul-universe the moment they hit the Geller Field.
[I am you... Kasjia...]
[Kasjia... accept me...]
[Accept... me...]
But this voice was an exception.
Ever since Kasjia entered the Warp, it had clung to him like a shadow, giving him no peace.
But apart from telling Kasjia to accept it, this voice didn't have much of an effect.
"Sigh, what a headache."
I can only pray that Old Man Gold repairs the Webway as soon as possible.
This Warp travel is really a bit too torturous.
Sitting in his personal cabin aboard the Vengeful Spirit, Kasjia couldn't help but sigh at the sky.
This was the flagship Vengeful Spirit.
That's right, that Vengeful Spirit.
The vessel of the Primarch of the Sixteenth Legion, the Luna Wolves, the Wolf-Shepherd God Horus Lupercal.
As for Kasjia's Third Legion, The Emperor's Children, given that their numbers were still too few to act independently...
...they would be following Horus's 63rd Expeditionary Fleet, participating in the Great Crusade as an auxiliary force.
It would also be a way for the new recruits to gain some combat and command experience.
In the years since his return to the Imperium, Kasjia had completed the entire process of his Space Marine augmentation.
Some of it was even done after he was sealed in a stasis field, when the Custodians took him to the dungeons of the Imperial Palace.
And the power armor he was given was, of course, personally forged by the Primarch Fulgrim.
The power armor was in the standard purple and gold colors of the Emperor's Children, but under Fulgrim's exceptionally delicate craftsmanship, the entire suit was decorated with complex gilded patterns. The eagle wings on the pauldrons and the Imperial Aquila on the chest were lifelike, shining with a dazzling golden light.
The horsehair plume on the helmet, along with the red cloak attached by an exquisite clasp, danced in the wind.
Its design was also extraordinary: on the basis of the original Crusade-pattern power armor, Fulgrim had made drastic modifications, making the overall armor more flexible and light without sacrificing its sturdiness.
Its flexibility was particularly outstanding, and coupled with optical camouflage and dual-circuit technology, it was better suited for Kasjia's preferred agile fighting style.
Perhaps, the future Corvus-pattern power armor would even refer to her design for its iterations to some extent.
Perfect.
This was the first impression anyone had of the power armor.
But it seemed more fitting for a venerable commander than a new recruit!
And such magnificent armor, along with the power sword in his hand named Fireblade, became the envy of many Space Marines.
This isn't fair!
Why does a new recruit get to wear such beautiful artificer armor!?
Damn you, Kasjia!
It's bad enough that your wife is the number one beauty in the universe, but even the equipment you use is all artificer armor personally forged by her!
You get all the good stuff!
Even within the Third Legion, there were some grumblings about Fulgrim's almost infinite favoritism.
But Kasjia had never cared about these outside rumors.
Wielding this power sword,
Smiling in my artificer armor,
I'll have another helping of 'soft rice' (being a kept man).
[Commander Kasjia, Warmaster Horus requests your presence at the strategy meeting for the Dalinite Nebula in two standard Terran hours.]
"Alright."
Time for work.
Kasjia adjusted his armor and prepared to head to the magnificent conference room at the bow of the Vengeful Spirit.
Speaking of which, wasn't Horus's famous tantrum in the future supposed to happen here?
He pouted slightly with some resignation.
I hope such a tragedy won't happen again this time.
Kasjia arrived at the conference room.
A tactical hololith of the star system was projected above the entire conference table. Several giants in pearl-white armor, a three-eyed Astropath, a red-robed Magos of the Mechanicum, and an Imperial Navy representative were gathered around the table, whispering and discussing something.
"Lord Horus, the Emperor's Children await your command."
Kasjia stepped forward and saluted the tallest figure in the center.
"Welcome, Lord Regent Kasjia. Please, be seated."
Horus showed a warm and friendly smile.
"There is still some time before the official meeting begins. If you are interested, we would be happy for you to join our pre-meeting discussion."
Lord Regent of the Third Legion.
This was Kasjia's current title.
Perhaps because the special modifications given to him by the Emperor had made him much stronger than a typical Space Marine, by the time Kasjia had completed the process, his combat skills were no less than those of the renowned swordsmen among the Third Legion's captains.
Furthermore, having ruled and managed Chemos with Fulgrim for thirty years, the Primarch had great trust in his abilities.
On this basis, Fulgrim had proposed to promote Kasjia to the rank of Lord Commander.
Kasjia had no objection to this.
The Great Crusade had begun, more and more Primarchs were returning to the Imperium, and the seeds of rebellion had been sown.
The expected day of the Great Betrayal was gradually approaching.
He had to change this.
He had to first become a Lord Commander of the Emperor's Children to be able to participate in the decision-making of the crusade.
But unfortunately, this proposal was rejected by an internal legion council.
As a new recruit with no military achievements, even with the Primarch's guarantee, it would be difficult to convince the masses to directly promote him to commander.
"The Third Legion currently has few achievements in the crusade. If we make another exceptional promotion, it is very likely to bring criticism upon our legion."
"Moreover, many legionaries are already quite critical of Kasjia, which is not conducive to the internal stability of the legion."
"Furthermore, even if the new recruit Kasjia has impressive combat abilities, as a legion commander, command ability is the most important thing."
Even the most trusted commander, Vespasian, had argued against it.
"But Kasjia was taught by me personally, and on Chemos he was already able to—"
"Wait, Fulgrim, let me say a few words."
"Commander Vespasian, you mean to say that I currently lack practical command experience and find it difficult to convince the masses, correct?"
Kasjia had asked calmly at the time.
"That is correct."
The other's reply was extremely brief.
"Fine, I understand."
"Lord Fulgrim, I withdraw my request for the exceptional promotion to Lord Commander."
"Until I have a military record that can convince everyone."
Bringing his thoughts back to the present.
Currently, Fulgrim was still at the Jupiter shipyards, personally overseeing the construction of the flagship Pride of the Emperor. For a perfectionist like her, it would naturally take a lot of time to ensure that every detail of the flagship met her standards.
And the other three commanders of the Emperor's Children were also scattered in other star systems, completing their respective crusade missions.
The five hundred Emperor's Children currently in the 63rd Expeditionary Fleet, led by Horus, would all be under the command of him, this Lord Regent who urgently needed to accumulate command experience.
Dong.
The atomic clock at the bow of the ship struck thirteen.
"The strategy meeting for the Dalinite Nebula will now begin," the Wolf-Shepherd God Horus announced.
What? You ask what kind of sounds Slaanesh makes?
