Chapter 24: Meeting
Uchiha Fugaku nodded without saying anything, and as soon as he stepped into the bathroom, he heard Uchiha Mikoto's urging voice.
"Sasuke, don't be distracted, eat properly, and don't watch TV!"
"I'm eating, I'm eating."
"Aren't you afraid of being late for school?"
"Kasan, what time is it?"
Sasuke heard Uchiha Mikoto say it was 8:30, and quickly lowered his head to speed up.
The place he lived now was not near the bustling center of Konoha, and it would take him more than 20 minutes to walk to school.
When Fugaku finished washing up and came out, Sasuke was already carrying his backpack, ready to leave.
"I'm leaving!"
Sasuke ran out in a hurry.
"Have a good trip, don't come back too late."
Uchiha Mikoto stood at the door, seeing Sasuke off, watching his figure disappear around the corner before closing the door and returning.
Today's breakfast was Ise Udon, with fried pork cutlet, soft-boiled fried egg, chopped green onions, and so on.
It was perfect in color, aroma, and taste, looking very appetizing and making one's mouth water.
Seeing Fugaku about to start eating without saying anything, Mikoto quickly stopped him, saying, "Fugaku, did you forget something?"
Fugaku was a bit confused, then reacted, smiled, and put his hands together: "I'm starting."
Neon people have this custom; he almost forgot.
After breakfast, Fugaku went straight out.
He still didn't know how things went last night, and it was agreed that there would be a meeting in the Hokage Building this morning.
Before he even left the clan compound, he saw Uchiha Yashiro hurrying over, and his face lit up when he saw him.
"Clan Head!"
Uchiha Yashiro, like Uchiha Inaho, was a loyal subordinate of the former Fugaku.
"How were things last night?"
Fugaku asked.
"I was just about to report to you," Uchiha Yashiro smiled and said solemnly, "After last night's arrests, all the remnants have been captured, but the Village's prison cells for criminals are full, so many were also taken to the Police Force Building for detention."
Saying that, he suddenly bent down, "I am very sorry, Clan Head, for unauthorizedly detaining people at the Police Force Building without obtaining your permission..."
Fugaku waved his hand, "It's fine."
These were minor matters; he didn't care at all.
He had originally thought a few rats might escape Konoha, but unexpectedly, all were caught.
It seemed that although Konoha was weak, a starved camel was still bigger than a horse; when Konoha operated, it could exert great power.
"Where is the Elder?"
"The Elder and Nara Shikaku are at the Hokage Building; he asked me to call you over to preside over the overall situation."
"Let's go."
Since the Elder and Nara Shikaku had been working all night and hadn't rested yet, Fugaku didn't make them wait long; he and Uchiha Yashiro moved at full speed and quickly arrived at the Hokage Building.
After last night's cleanup, the street outside the Hokage Building was spotless, with no trace of blood.
Walking into the lobby, it was the same, looking completely refreshed.
"Clan Head, they are in the meeting room on the first floor."
Uchiha Yashiro reminded him.
Arriving at the meeting room door.
The door was ajar.
Fugaku raised his hand and knocked three times, then pushed the door open without waiting for anyone inside to speak.
In the meeting room, Uchiha Sihu, Uchiha Setsuna, and two other Elders sat on the left side, and next to them, Ryūma Aburame, who had pledged allegiance to him last night, also sat there, while Nara Shikaku, Hyuga Hiashi, and other clan heads sat on the right side, with the main seat empty.
It was the seat reserved for him.
Fugaku glanced at the clearly defined seating arrangement and then unhesitatingly took the main seat.
Uchiha Yashiro then exited the room, gently closing the door.
Fugaku first scanned everyone.
He noticed they all looked tired, but their eyes were bright.
"Thank you all for your hard work."
Fugaku said.
"It's no hardship; Konoha is our home, and we must protect it. Any person with ill intentions, we must ruthlessly eliminate them. It's not hard work."
Nara Shikaku said with a smile.
The other clan heads also echoed his sentiments.
They had already boarded Uchiha Fugaku's pirate ship, and since the deed was done, they would soon reap the benefits, so naturally, they wouldn't make trouble for themselves at this time.
"Hmm," Fugaku nodded, cleared his throat, and said, "Then, as previously agreed, I will assume the position of Fifth Hokage, Clan Head Nara Shikaku will serve as Hokage Assistant, Clan Head Hyuga Hiashi will serve as Hokage Advisor, and Uchiha Sihu will serve as Hokage Advisor. Additionally, the Hokage Assistant will no longer concurrently hold the position of Root leader; the Root leader will be handed over to Ryūma Aburame..."
Fugaku patiently repeated it, and the others also patiently listened again, without the slightest impatience.
Besides these four crucial positions, to appease the others, Fugaku also relinquished some vacant positions, promoting those who deserved it and rewarding those who should be rewarded.
After last night's large-scale arrests, many positions in various parts of Konoha were vacated.
Of course, the positions in the Hokage Anbu were not given away; he decided to appoint Kakashi as the direct Anbu Captain.
He also did not plan to allow other ninja clans to place their people in the direct Anbu; he replaced them all with his own Three-Tomoe clan members.
The direct Anbu who originally pledged allegiance to Hiruzen Sarutobi were arrested by Kakashi and his team; those with loose ties were released on the spot, while those with close ties were first detained.
An hour passed, and the discussions were almost complete; everyone present was in high spirits, and the atmosphere was excellent.
"Then I'll choose an auspicious day here to hold the Hokage succession ceremony and announce your assumption of the Fifth Hokage position to the Village?"
Nara Shikaku asked with a smile.
Fugaku waved his hand and said, "No need. I think the day after tomorrow is good. Let's hold the succession ceremony the day after tomorrow. This matter should be handled quickly rather than slowly."
Nara Shikaku also nodded in agreement, but quickly raised another question.
"Fugaku-sama, according to past regulations, the position of Hokage needs to be approved by the Land of Fire. What do you think?"
His meaning was that three days might be too rushed; it would take more than three days for someone from Konoha Village to travel to and from the Land of Fire.
Fugaku knew this regulation; it was explained in the Hokage plot that it was the one-village, one-country system established by First Hokage Senju Hashirama and the Lord Daimyo of the Land of Fire royal family, where the appointment of the Hokage needed the Daimyo's approval.
He scoffed at this; a powerful armed organization, changing its leader still needed the approval of the weak Land of Fire royal family?
Wasn't this ridiculous?
He planned to change this situation, but not now; he was about to become the Fifth Hokage, and there were still a lot of things to deal with in the village.
"Just notify the Land of Fire; the Daimyo has no right to meddle in the appointment of the Hokage."
Fugaku decisively settled the matter with authority, and a hint of admiration flashed in Nara Shikaku's eyes. With his intelligence, he also believed the same; the one-village, one-country system established by First Hokage might have been suitable when Konoha Village was just founded, but it was no longer suitable now.
Hiruzen Sarutobi didn't let him into the Konoha high command, and he was too lazy to offer advice to Hiruzen Sarutobi. Wasn't it better to slack off? Why bother .
