"stop!" I ran towards the boys as the collision came. Naoto turned to me in disbelief before tackling me to the ground. My head rellied as an explosion rang out behind me.
"Are you insane!" I flinched at his sharp tone "you could have been killed!"
"I'm sorry but I didn't want you to-" I stopped, my eyes fixed to the blood pouring out of his eyes "whoe you're bleeding!"
"There's nothing to worry about. It's just a side effect from using my eyes for too long" he wiped the blood away nonchalantly.
"That is right!" I jumped as Leo's voice appeared beside me. How'd he get there!? "Isn't the eyes of the hakuta clan something to behold?" his eyes sparkled with joy. I could sense how much he admired naoto. It must have meant the world to him for naoto to accept his challenge.
"Speaking of I'm surprised you knew of the danger of my ultimate attack" he leaned in, studying my face "have you also been trained by master guru?"
"I've studied his work here and there" I quickly thought up a lie.
"Incredible. I have a brother in arms" he took my hands excitedly.
"Brother" my eyes lit up. I've always wanted a big brother.
"I've had enough of this farce. I'm going home" naoto turned around and started to walk off. Oh no. I still have to talk to him about hanako.
"Wait. I'll come too" I jogged at his pace.
"Excellent idea brother" leo followed us "a night of bonding will be essential to our growth as men"
"No way am I taking you weirdos home with me" his blunt tone was like a stab in the chest. Still, I knew I couldn't give up so easily.
"Please naoto" I stepped in front of him.
"Get out of my way" he growled threateningly.
"I can't" I shook my head firmly. His jaw tightened at my words "cause hanako's important to me and I know she's important to you too"
"What the hell do you know of my family!" He snapped.
"I know you've both been dealt a bad hand" I spoke softly "hanako can't live up to her families impossible standards and you were born a servant. You've both suffered but it doesn't have to stay that way. If you work together you can change the hakuta clan-" I was cut off by a punch to the face.
"You're an idealistic fool!" Fury shone in his eyes like embers as he raised his fist again "like the two of us could change anything-"
"That's enough!" Leo grabbed his arm with a stern expression "I will not allow my rival to be the type of man to accept injustice. If there is hope for a better tomorrow then you must grasp it. How can you hope to fight for others if you cannot fight for yourself?"
His eyes looked conflicted as he took in Leo's words before pulling away. He took a few steps forward before speaking "if you're going to follow me then do so quietly. I don't want to run into my uncle"
Me and leo turned to each other with a victorious grin. We make a pretty good team.
