Chapter 179 - CH 179 : The God of Destruction

The cosmic silence of Lord Beerus's temple was broken only by the soft, rhythmic tapping of Whis's staff against the polished floor. The sound echoed gently through the vast chamber, a place untouched by time.

At its center, suspended in midair, slept the God of Destruction.

Beerus lay cocooned in a deep, centuries-long slumber, drifting through dreams where entire galaxies likely vanished at the whim of his unconscious thoughts. His breathing was slow, steady, and powerful enough to make the surrounding space subtly distort.

Whis looked down at the sleeping deity and smiled.

With deliberate calm, he reached into his robe and pulled out several steaming containers of Earth's finest instant ramen. One by one, he peeled back their lids. Thick clouds of savory steam burst forth, spreading through the chamber and breaking the stillness with warmth and scent.

Miso. Pork broth. Spices unknown to the gods.

The aroma flooded the room.

Beerus's nose twitched.

A thin line of drool slid from the corner of his mouth and fell onto his pillow.

"This scent…" Beerus murmured in his sleep, his voice heavy and distant. "I have never smelled something so divine in all my eons. It must be a dream. A cruel, delicious dream."

But the fragrance was far too real.

Without opening his eyes, Beerus slowly began to levitate. His body drifted through the air, guided only by instinct and hunger, drawn toward the rising steam like a moth to flame.

His hand reached out.

He grabbed the nearest container.

And crushed it into his mouth.

Plastic, noodles, broth, all devoured in one bite.

The explosion of flavor struck his senses like lightning.

Beerus's golden eyes snapped open.

"?!"

Standing calmly before him was Whis, hands folded, smiling with polite amusement.

"Good morning, my lord."

Beerus froze mid-chew.

His gaze dropped to the remaining boxes scattered around him. His pupils dilated.

"Whis," he said slowly. "Did you create this masterpiece?"

Whis let out a light, melodic chuckle.

"Oh no, my lord. This was brought by a mortal. He came specifically to wake you."

Beerus's ears twitched.

"A mortal?" he repeated.

"Yes," Whis continued smoothly. "It appears he is quite desperate. He wishes for you to join a fight."

Beerus did not respond verbally.

Instead, he lunged.

In mere seconds, every remaining box was torn open and devoured with terrifying speed. The sound of slurping echoed through the chamber as noodles vanished faster than gravity could comprehend.

Between mouthfuls, Beerus laughed.

"I must meet this mortal. Anyone who understands flavor at this level deserves my attention."

Whis tapped his staff gently.

A shimmer of divine light washed over Beerus. The grime of sleep vanished instantly. His casual sleeping attire dissolved and was replaced by his regal garments of dark purple and gold. In the same instant, his body was cleaned, refreshed, and fully awakened.

Beerus stretched, his lean feline limbs cracking softly.

"So, Whis," he said lazily, "what year is it in the cosmic calendar?"

Whis raised his staff, projecting a holographic display into the air. He calmly recited the current cosmic date before continuing.

"Much has changed while you slept, my lord. The balance of the universe is… unstable."

Beerus glanced at the projection.

"And Frieza?" he asked casually. "Did that brat finish off the Saiyans like I ordered?"

"Mostly," Whis replied.

With a wave of his staff, new images appeared. Earth. Explosions. Warriors with golden auras clashing against impossible odds.

"A few Saiyans survived," Whis explained. "They have since become defenders of a small planet called Earth. Recently, they even resisted Frieza himself."

Beerus leaned forward slightly, intrigued.

"Saiyans as heroes," he muttered. "How amusing."

"But they are not the true concern," Whis continued.

The image shifted.

A green, flawless figure appeared on the projection. Cold. Perfect. Radiating terrifying pressure.

"Cell," Whis said. "A unique biological creation. Due to his design, he grows stronger during battle at an incredible rate. His potential is… abnormal."

Beerus's eyes narrowed.

"And you said a human called me?"

"Yes," Whis replied. "His name is Rudra. He formally requested your intervention to save the universe from this growing threat."

For a moment, Beerus was silent.

Then he laughed.

The sound echoed across the temple, sending ripples through space itself.

"Millions of years," Beerus said, a predatory gleam returning to his eyes. "And only now does a mortal with true nerve appear before me."

He stood tall.

"Very well, Whis," he said, smiling. "Let us greet our guest. I wish to see whether this Rudra's spirit is as bold as his taste in noodles."

Far away, across the cosmos, Rudra felt an inexplicable chill run down his spine.

The God of Destruction was awake.
