Chapter 34: Mind Control, Hunting Season
The office lights were dim, permeated with a lewd atmosphere. Professor Krueger, engrossed in the pleasure of controlling his student, suddenly saw Rorschach push open the door and enter. His expression instantly changed, and he immediately released his control over the student.
"Who are you?! This is the professor's office, who allowed you to just walk in!" Krueger snapped, a flicker of panic in his eyes, while secretly activating his Telepathy to try and control Rorschach's mind.
The female student took the opportunity to flee in a panic, leaving only Rorschach and Krueger in the office.
Rorschach casually closed the door, leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, a playful smile on his face, and spoke without hesitation, "Professor Krueger, you're really something. In the middle of the night, bullying students in the office, playing quite the game, aren't you?"
Krueger's face darkened. He recognized the Vought Security uniform Rorschach was wearing and knew he was from the company, but he prided himself on his psychic abilities and didn't take Rorschach seriously at all.
"I advise you to mind your own business, otherwise, I'll make your life worse than death!" Krueger roared, fully activating his Mind Control ability. Invisible mental fluctuations, like sharp blades, stabbed towards Rorschach's mind.
In his view, any ordinary person, even security personnel, would be instantly controlled by him, becoming a puppet at his mercy.
But the next second, Krueger's eyes widened, an expression of disbelief on his face. His mental attack was like a stone sinking into the sea, having no effect on Rorschach. Instead, it was bounced back by an even stronger psychic force, causing a sharp pain in his head.
"How is this possible?! You also have psychic abilities?!" Krueger exclaimed, his face filled with terror.
The smile at the corner of Rorschach's mouth deepened. His Telepathy 1. ability quietly activated, firmly resisting Krueger's mental attack: "Mind Control? Telepathy? Is that all?"
He walked step by step towards Krueger, his tall figure exuding immense pressure. Super Strength and Super Defense were fully activated. In the face of absolute power, Krueger's psychic abilities were simply insignificant.
"What exactly do you want to do? I'm a professor at Vought International, you can't touch me!" Kruegerretreated in fear, his voice full of terror. He had never seen such a powerful psychic. The man in front of him was simply a devil.
"Can't touch you?" Rorschach sneered, grabbing Kruegerby the collar and lifting him up. "You've been using your superpowers to control others for a long time, doing whatever you want, committing many evils. Today, I'll do a good deed."
Krueger struggled desperately, launching all his psychic abilities to attack Rorschach, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't budge Rorschach in the slightest. Rorschach's psychic abilities were like an impenetrable wall, blocking all his attacks, and Rorschach easily resisted the power of Mind Control.
[Detected superpower blood, extracted Level 1 abilities: Telepathy 1., Mind Control 1.! Points 200]
The system's prompt sounded in Rorschach's mind. He was overjoyed, but his face remained expressionless. He exerted a little force with his hand, his fingertip piercing Krueger's skin and touching his blood, instantly completing the plunder.
[Host: Rorschach]
[Abilities: Super Speed 1.2, Invisibility 1., Super Defense 2., Animal Communication 1.0, Super Strength 1.2, Energy Manipulation 1.5, Super Hearing 1.0, Shapeshifting 1.0, Super Regeneration 1.4, Telepathy 1.1, Immortality 1.0, Mind Control 1.0]
[Total Points: 19]
Feeling the two new abilities in his mind, Rorschach felt immensely satisfied. Telepathy upgraded to 1.1, Mind Control was also acquired, and his points increased by 2. This was a huge profit!
Krueger felt utterly desperate: "Please let me go!"
"Leaving you alive is a disaster." Rorschach's eyes were cold, decisive, and without hesitation, he raised his hand and punched Krueger in the head.
Super Strength erupted, and Krueger's head shattered like a watermelon, killing him instantly. This wicked psychic professor had no chance to resist in front of Rorschach and was instantly killed.
Rorschach casually tossed the body aside, wiped the blood from his hands, and began to feel the newly acquired abilities.
Telepathy 1.1 was stronger than before, not only allowing him to perceive others' thoughts and emotions but also to affect physical objects around him, such as moving or manipulating items, like telekinesis.
Mind Control 1.0, on the other hand, focused on the mental level, allowing him to sense others' mental fluctuations, perform Mind Control, memory alteration, and mental Impact, but it could not affect physical objects.
"So that's how it is, psychic and mental are two different systems." Rorschach murmured softly, understanding dawned on him. "One can affect matter, the other affects all mental aspects. They complement each other, not bad."
He didn't linger, turning to leave the office and heading towards the underground laboratory to find Butcher and the others to continue the next phase of the plan.
Meanwhile, Butcher and his group had already found the entrance to the underground laboratory and were fiercely battling Vought Security personnel. The compound vtemporarily gave them superpowers, allowing them to barely resist the security's assault, but they were gradually falling behind.
Just then, Rorschach appeared beside them, effortlessly taking down a few security personnel, and said lightly, "I say, you guys are too useless, aren't you? You can't even beat this many people, and I have to come save the day."
Butcher saw Rorschach and breathed a sigh of relief: "Done?"
"Of course." Rorschach shrugged. "Dealt with it easily. Let's go in and see what gives Vought its confidence."
Chapter 35: Academy Lab, Exploring New Abilities
Rorschach led the way, guiding The Boys deeper into the underground laboratory. The passage was brightly lit, with precise experimental equipment lining both sides. Researchers in white coats, seeing them intrude, panicked and tried to call for help or escape.
"Anyone who resists, kill them directly," Rorschach said calmly, yet with an undeniable killing intent.
These researchers were Vought International's pawns, involved in countless inhumane experiments, their hands stained with blood. In Rorschach's eyes, they were not innocent and their deaths were nothing to regret.
One researcher picked up a scalpel from the table and lunged at Hughie. Rorschach's eyes turned cold, and his Telepathy 1.1 ability instantly activated. Invisible psychokinesis controlled the scalpel, instantly reversing its direction and plunging it into the researcher's throat.
Blood gushed out, and the researcher fell to the ground, dying on the spot.
"What the hell, Rorschach, what kind of ability is that?" Frenchie's eyes widened in shock.
"A new ability, Psychic Power," Rorschach blurted out. "How about it, isn't it cool? Much more powerful than your temporary Compound V, right?"
Butcher watched Rorschach display his powerful abilities, and his apprehension grew. He found this man increasingly unfathomable—his strength was immeasurable, his abilities endless, and he was cunning and sinister. Such a person was even more terrifying than Homelander.
They ventured deeper, and any security personnel or researchers who dared to resist were easily dealt with by Rorschach. Super Strength, Super Speed, Psychic Power, and various other methods were frequently employed. In front of him, these people were as fragile as ants.
Soon, they arrived at the laboratory's control center and archives. This was where all of Vought International's secret experimental data, as well as various developed drugs and weapons, were stored.
Rorschach walked to the control panel, easily hacked into the computer system, and retrieved all the data. Butcher, meanwhile, frantically searched the archives for special drugs that could counter superpowers.
"Found it!" Butcher suddenly shouted, pulling out a silver box from an encrypted safe.
Opening the box, it contained a dozen palm-sized smoke bombs, all black, marked with danger symbols.
"Is this Vought's secret weapon?" Hughie leaned closer, asking curiously.
"That's right," Butcher picked up a smoke bomb, his expression unreadable, his eyes complex. "The data shows this is an incapacitating smoke bomb. The gas released after it explodes can instantly strip superheroes of their powers, turning them into ordinary people."
Rorschach leaned against the side, watching Butcher's expression, and smiled faintly. He easily saw through Butcher's thoughts with Telepathy, knowing that this guy was up to no good and was definitely planning something malicious, most likely to use this bomb against him.
After all, Rorschach's strength was too great; for Butcher, he was also a huge threat. After taking down Homelander, Rorschach would inevitably become his next target, so it would be better to strike first now.
Rorschach sneered inwardly, not exposing him. He wanted to see if Butcher dared to make a move. Such a low-level trick was simply ineffective in the face of his absolute strength.
"Good stuff," Rorschach pretended not to know, his tone flippant. "With this, Homelander and Soldier Boy will have to obediently become ordinary people, at our mercy."
Butcher gripped the smoke bomb, his resolve growing stronger. He looked at Rorschach, his eyes flickering, but outwardly he remained calm: "That's right, with this, we can end all of this. Rorschach, we owe you a lot this time."
"Don't thank me, I'm just doing it for myself," Rorschachshrugged. "Pack up, take all the bombs, and leave here. Vought will discover this place soon, it's not good to stay long."
Everyone immediately acted, securing all the smoke bombs, destroying key data in the lab, and then, under Rorschach's cover, successfully left the Superhero Academy.
After returning to their hideout, Rorschach went back to his apartment alone. He didn't immediately go to his girlfriends but sat on the sofa, carefully sensing his newly acquired Telepathy 1.1 and Mind Control 1. abilities.
Psychic abilities, leaning towards the material plane, gained psychokinesis after upgrading, allowing him to move objects, manipulate physical matter, and even form defensive barriers, complementing Super Defense.
Mental abilities, leaning towards the conscious plane, allowed him to control others' minds, alter memories, and create illusions. They were excellent for assassination and manipulation, complementing Telepathy.
The two abilities originated from the same source but differed in nature; combined, their power was infinite.
"System, merging abilities of the same level adds.1 to the level, and points can upgrade abilities," Rorschach silently recited in his mind. "I currently have 190 points, enough to upgrade both first-level abilities to second-level, but I'll save them for now and wait until I plunder more abilities."
His eyes deepened, and he already had a plan for his next step. With the smoke bombs acquired, the next step was to find a target to test their power, and he had already chosen his target—Black Noir.
Black Noir, Homelander's most loyal subordinate, was cunning, sinister, and powerful, making him difficult to deal with. Without special means, he couldn't be taken down, so it was perfect to test the gaseous bomb on him and simultaneously eliminate this trouble.
Rorschach's lips curled into a sinister smile, and he picked up his phone, dialing Butcher's number.
"Butcher, are you asleep? I want to discuss something with you. How about we find someone to test the power of these smoke bombs?"
Chapter 36: Smoke Bomb, Malicious Intent
On the other end of the line, Butcher was currently sitting in a dimly lit room, fiddling with an incapacitating smoke bomb, his gaze fierce and paranoid.
Hearing Rorschach's words, his heart stirred. He immediately suppressed his malicious intent and asked with feigned composure, "Testing the bomb? Who do you want to choose as the target?"
"Black Noir." Rorschach's voice was frivolous, yet carried full killing intent. "That guy hides behind a mask all day, sinister and cunning. He's one of Vought International's mad dogs and is long overdue for a cleanup. Besides, his superpowers are decent, making him perfect for testing the bomb's power."
A flash of excitement crossed Butcher's eyes. Black Noirwas also his archenemy, and he had long wanted to get rid of him. "Fine! I agree! Black Noir's movements are secretive and he's hard to deal with. What's your plan to lure him into the trap?"
"The plan is simple." Rorschach's mind raced. "You are the leader of The Boys, and Vought International has always wanted to capture you. You'll intentionally leak your whereabouts to lure Black Noir into hunting you. I'll lie in ambush, and once he appears, I'll throw the gas bombdirectly—catching a turtle in a jar."
Butcher immediately nodded. "No problem! I'll be the bait, and you'll be responsible for taking action. Once it's done, that mad dog Black Noir will be dead, and the threat from Vought International will be smaller!"
"Smart." Rorschach chuckled. "We move tomorrow night. I'll choose the location to ensure nothing goes wrong. Remember, don't play any tricks, or else you'll die a very ugly death."
Hanging up the phone, Butcher's expression instantly turned cold. He looked at the smoke bomb in his hand, the malicious thoughts in his heart erupting completely.
Rorschach was too strong, so strong that it made him feel terrified. He had even seen right through his thoughts. If he didn't get rid of Rorschach, even if Homelander was taken out, Rorschach would become a new threat—perhaps even more terrifying than Homelander.
Luring Black Noir into the trap this time was the perfect opportunity. When the time came, he could use the smoke bomb on Rorschach first to strip him of his superpowers, then shoot him dead to eliminate the problem forever. If he failed, he would find an excuse to see if he could get Rorschach to spare him!
"Rorschach, don't blame me for being ruthless; if you must blame someone, blame yourself for being too strong." Butcher gnashed his teeth, his eyes filled with killing intent. "In this world, I only trust myself. No one can stand in the way of my revenge!"
He began to prepare meticulously, hiding an incapacitating smoke bomb on his person and checking the pistol in his hand, which was loaded with special armor-piercing bullets, as he calculated his perfect plan.
Meanwhile, Rorschach had long since seen through all of Butcher's thoughts. His Telepathy 1.1 ability easily allowed him to perceive Butcher's general emotions. He wasn't surprised at all by Butcher's plan to backstab him; instead, he felt it was only natural.
"Butcher, oh Butcher, you're really up to no good as expected." Rorschach sneered with a face full of disdain. "Trying to use a gas bomb on me? Truly laughably naive."
His Super Defense 2. was an ability that had been upgraded and strengthened many times. Forget ordinary bullets—even a missile couldn't harm him in the slightest. As for the incapacitating smoke bomb, it was only effective against ordinary level-one espers. For an esper like him who possessed multiple abilities exceeding level one, it could only weaken him slightly.
In his eyes, Butcher's schemes were as ridiculous as the antics of a buffoon.
Rorschach didn't expose him; instead, he planned to play along with Butcher's act. He wanted to see if Butcheractually dared to strike. Once Butcher made his move, he would give him a good lesson, letting him know who the true master was and who was the existence he shouldn't provoke.
The next night, according to the plan, Butcher intentionally appeared in an abandoned factory in New York, leaking his whereabouts and waiting for Black Noir to come hunting him.
Rorschach activated his invisibility ability and hid in a corner of the factory, quietly observing everything. With Super Speed, Super Defense, and Super Regeneration all active, he was fully prepared.
Before long, a black figure appeared silently at the factory entrance—it was Black Noir. Wearing his signature black bodysuit and mask, he exuded a cold killing intent, his gaze locked firmly onto Butcher.
Black Noir intended to take action immediately without saying a word.
Butcher feigned panic and took a few steps back.
While stalling for time, he quietly reached for the smoke bomb in his coat, his eyes occasionally glancing toward where Rorschach was hidden. The malicious intent in his heart could no longer be suppressed.
Now!
Butcher suddenly whipped out the incapacitating smoke bomb, but instead of throwing it at Black Noir, he turned and hurled it fiercely toward Rorschach's hidden position!
"Die!"
Chapter 37: Ambush and Warning, Crushing
The smoke bomb traced a black arc through the air, landing with pinpoint accuracy on Luo Xia's concealed position and instantly exploding!
"Boom!"
With a muffled bang, pale white gas instantly spread out, enveloping an area of over ten meters in radius. This was a top-tier incapacitating gas developed by Vought International, with an extremely rapid diffusion rate. Inhaling even a little would instantly strip a superhuman of all their abilities, turning them into a powerless ordinary person.
Butcher's eyes were fierce. Without hesitation, he pulled out his pistol, aimed at Luo Xia within the smoke, and pulled the trigger!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Specially made armor-piercing rounds whistled out, shooting towards the center of the smoke. A savage grin spread across Butcher's face. He firmly believed that no matter how strong Luo Xia was, under the effect of the incapacitating gas, he would become an ordinary person and be riddled with bullets!
Black Noir stood in place, a look of confusion and wariness on his face as he watched the scene unfold, not understanding why Butcher was attacking the seemingly empty smoke instead of him.
Just then, the smoke slowly dissipated, and Luo Xia's figure gradually became visible.
He was still standing in the same spot, posture erect. His handsome, tall face showed not a trace of panic, and the corner of his mouth even held a hint of an amused smile.
His clothes only had a few bullet holes, with no bloodstains whatsoever. The armor-piercing rounds that had just hit him felt like mere tickles, not even leaving a mark.
The savage grin on Butcher's face instantly froze, replaced by boundless disappointment and confusion. His eyes widened in disbelief as he shouted, "Impossible! That's absolutely impossible! Why didn't the incapacitating gas work on you?! Why didn't the bullets hurt you?!"
His meticulously planned ambush had been so utterly ineffective. The scene before him completely overturned his understanding.
Luo Xia stepped slowly out of the smoke, his gaze icy as he looked at Butcher. A dark, murderous intent was released without restraint, pressing down on Butcher until he could barely breathe.
"Butcher, I told you before, don't play tricks with me. I saw right through your little schemes." Luo Xia's tone was flat, yet carried a chilling coldness. "incapacitating smoke bomb? You thought such a low-level thing could be useful against me? How naive."
His Super Defense 2. had long surpassed the effective range of incapacitating agents; it simply wasn't something this ordinary gas could affect. Bullets? In the face of absolute defense, they couldn't even penetrate.
"You... what kind of monster are you?" Butcher retreated in fright, his gun dropping to the ground, his face full of terror.
"Monster?" Luo Xia sneered. He stepped forward, grabbed Butcher by the collar, and lifted him up. Super Strengthactivated, rendering Butcher unable to struggle. "I'm someone you can't afford to mess with! Butcher, I'm warning you, this is the first and last time!"
His eyes were fierce and decisive, his tone icy: "I'm keeping you alive because you're still useful, you can do things for me, not so you can plot against me. If there's a next time, if you dare to harbor any treacherous thoughts towards me, I don't care what your revenge plan is, I don't care who you want to kill, I'll be the one who can't resist killing you first! I'll tear you to shreds, make you disappear from this world forever!"
An overwhelming murderous intent enveloped Butcher, making him feel an unprecedented threat of death. He finally understood that the gap between him and Luo Xia was like an unbridgeable chasm. For Luo Xia to kill him would be simpler than crushing an ant.
"I... I understand..." Butcher trembled in fear, his voice filled with pleading.
Luo Xia snorted coldly, casually throwing Butcher to the ground, no longer sparing him a glance. Such a minor character wasn't worth his effort to kill; keeping him alive still had its uses.
Black Noir, standing to the side, finally snapped out of it. Seeing the scene before him, he knew he had encountered a tough opponent. The man before him possessed strength far beyond imagination, someone he simply couldn't handle.
Black Noir didn't hesitate in the slightest; he turned and tried to flee. He was cunning by nature—if he couldn't win a fight, he would run, never forcing a confrontation.
"Trying to run?" A darkly amused smile curled at the corner of Luo Xia's mouth. "Since you're here, don't think about leaving. Perfect timing to test the power of this incapacitating bomb on you."
He instantly activated Super Speed, his figure shooting out like lightning, instantly blocking Black Noir's path. Telepathy 1.1 activated, and using telekinesis, he manipulated an incapacitating smoke bomb from the ground, hurling it directly at Black Noir!
Black Noir wanted to dodge, but Luo Xia was too fast; he had no time to react.
The bomb exploded beside him, the pale white gas instantly enveloping him.
In the next second, Black Noir's expression changed drastically. The superpowers within his body rapidly faded away, almost turning him into an ordinary person.
Chapter 38: Black Noir Captured, The Experiment
The incapacitating gas took effect immediately. Black Noircollapsed to the ground, utterly powerless. His formidable self-healing, stamina, strength, and defense all vanished, leaving him a helpless ordinary person at anyone's mercy.
He struggled to get up, but found he didn't even have the strength to lift his hand. He could only stare at Rorschachwith eyes full of hatred and fear.
"It's no use, Black Noir." Rorschach slowly walked up to him, looking down with a light, somewhat playful tone, "Vought International's incapacitating bomb is perfectly effective against a Level 1 Supe like you. Right now, you're no different from a dead dog."
Butcher got up from the ground, not daring to approach Rorschach. He could only stand in the distance, looking at the subdued Black Noir, a mix of shock and joy in his heart.
He was shocked by Rorschach's unfathomable strength, and joyful that Black Noir was finally caught. This opponent who had plagued him for years was finally apprehended.
"Rorschach, what now? Kill him directly?" Butcher asked cautiously, no longer daring to harbor any ill intentions.
Rorschach glanced at him, his cunning mind working: "Kill him? That's too easy for him. Black Noir is Vought's most loyal subordinate; keeping him has a greater purpose."
He squatted down, and Mind Control 1. subtly activated. Invisible mental power invaded Black Noir's mind, easily altering parts of his memory while suppressing his consciousness, making him unable to resist. He also didn't forget to draw some of his blood; although they were all Level 1 abilities, a mosquito's leg is still meat, after all.
"You... what did you do to me..." Black Noir's eyes were dazed, his voice weak.
"Nothing, just making you obedient." Rorschach chuckled, Super Strength activated, and he lifted Black Noir. "Take him away, find a place to lock him up. From now on, he will be our leverage against Homelander."
Butcher immediately nodded, not daring to raise any objections. He was now completely subservient to Rorschach, afraid of angering this god of plague again.
The three left the abandoned factory. Rorschach handed Black Noir over to The Boys for custody, instructing them to confine Black Noir in a secure basement, ensuring he couldn't escape.
After dealing with Black Noir, Rorschach returned to his apartment alone. Pushing open the door, his four girlfriends—Maeve, Starlight, Kimiko, and Erin—immediately surrounded him, their faces full of worry.
"Rorschach, you're finally back. Are you hurt?" Starlight stepped forward, gently stroking his cheek, her voice soft.
Queen Maeve looked him up and down, letting out a sigh of relief: "It's good to see you're fine. I knew no one could hurt you."
Rorschach reached out and pulled the four beauties into his embrace, feeling the warmth of their gentle company. The murderous aura from before instantly dissipated, and playful words flowed from his mouth: "Don't worry, my darlings, a small-time character like Black Noir can't hurt me. Your man is invincible."
He held his girlfriends on the sofa and recounted the day's events in an understated manner, omitting the part where Butcher tried to ambush him, so as not to worry them.
His dual abilities of mental and spiritual suggestion played a significant role in allowing him to be with his girlfriends like this. Although it was rather shameless, Rorschachdidn't care about such things. In the madness of The Boys' era, he could even be considered normal.
"That Butcher fellow really can't be trusted." Queen Maevesnorted, "Rorschach, stay away from him in the future. Don't let him scheme against you."
"Scheme against me?" Rorschach laughed heartily, "He doesn't have the ability. I'm keeping him just to run errands for me. Once he's useless, I can easily dispose of him."
Erin nestled in his arms, saying softly, "No matter what, you must be careful. Homelander and Soldier Boy are not easy to deal with."
"I know." Rorschach lowered his head, kissed Erin's forehead, and his eyes deepened, "Soldier Boy will soon return to America. When he does, he'll seek out his old teammates and Vought for revenge. A major battle is inevitable. And I, I just need to reap the benefits, plunder their abilities and points, and then become the ruler of this world."
He was already eager to acquire the powerful abilities of Soldier Boy and Homelander. Those were Level 2 superpowers; once plundered, his strength would undergo a qualitative leap, his points would skyrocket, and he might even meet the conditions for traveling to other worlds.
Rorschach embraced his girlfriends, his heart full of anticipation. The real show had just begun. Soldier Boy, Homelander, Vought International—everything would become his stepping stone to the top.
Chapter 39: Laying the Groundwork for Battle
As night deepened, the lights of New York City shimmered brightly. Beneath the seemingly prosperous and peaceful surface, undercurrents surged; a storm that would sweep through the entire superhero world was about to break.
Rorschach lay on the soft, large bed, yet he felt no drowsiness at all. His mind was constantly calculating his next moves.
Rolling out of bed, he first took out the blood of Black Noirhe had obtained earlier. At the touch of his finger, the system notification sounded.
[Blood contact detected. Obtained Super Defense 1.0, Super Strength 1.0, and Super Regeneration 1.0. Gained 300 points.]
Then, each ability fused into his existing powers, and it seemed the system had undergone some changes.
[Host: Rorschach]
[Abilities: Super Speed 1.2, Invisibility 1., Super Defense 2., Animal Communication 1.0, Super Strength 1.3, Energy Manipulation 1.5, Super Hearing 1.0, Shapeshifting 1.0, Super Regeneration 1.5, Telepathy 1.1, Immortality 1.0, Mind Control 1.0]
[Current Total Points: 192,200]
It seemed that after all this time, various abilities were being integrated into a more fundamental, high-level power. This was a good thing; the more they fused, the faster he could upgrade certain abilities to Level 2, saving him points.
On the other side, Soldier Boy had already entered the United States. In a matter of days, he would collide head-on with Vought International. When that time came, Homelander would likely be unable to avoid a battle with him, and this was exactly the result he desired.
When the snipe and the clam fight, the fisherman reaps the rewards.
All he needed to do was wait quietly for the moment when both were wounded, then strike to harvest the fruits of battle and plunder their abilities.
As for Butcher and The Boys, they were merely pawns in his hands. He used them to deal with Black Noir and gather intelligence. Once everything was over, these pawns would lose their utility. At that point, whether to keep them or kill them would depend entirely on his whim.
Looking at his ability panel, Rorschach felt satisfied. The newly added Telepathy and Mind Control had greatly increased his strength, and Super Defense 2. made him practically invincible. He also had enough points to upgrade two abilities to Level 2. He only needed to plunder the abilities of Soldier Boy or Homelander to directly fuse and upgrade them, becoming even stronger.
Early the next morning, Rorschach received news that Soldier Boy had appeared on the streets of New York. He was searching everywhere for the whereabouts of Vought International and Homelander. Wherever he went, chaos followed. Several low-level Vought supes had already died at his hands.
When the news reached Vought Internationalheadquarters, Homelander was furious. With Black Noirmissing and Soldier Boy returning, the string of bad news left him in a towering rage. The entire Vought Internationalwas plunged into unprecedented panic.
Queen Maeve returned from Vought International and told Rorschach the news, her face full of gravity: "Rorschach, Homelander has gone mad. He's ordered a city-wide manhunt for Soldier Boy and wants to kill anyone who opposes him. New York is about to descend into chaos."
"Chaos is good." Rorschach's lips curled into a calculating smile. "The more chaotic it is, the more opportunities we'll have. Maeve, stay at Vought and keep gathering information. Remember, protect yourself and don't let Homelander notice anything unusual."
Rorschach nodded. "Prepare yourselves for battle. When the great war breaks out, strike with me to clean up those scumbags."
His four girlfriends nodded one after another. They trusted Rorschach and were willing to follow him and conquer everything.
Rorschach immediately contacted Butcher and commanded in an authoritative tone, "Butcher, Soldier Boyhas arrived in New York. Find a way to contact him. Tell him that the people who betrayed him back then were the Vought higher-ups, and provoke him into going to war with Homelander immediately!"
Butcher didn't dare to disobey and immediately agreed, "Understood! I'll get on it right away! I'll definitely make them fight!"
"Remember, don't get killed by Soldier Boy. You're still useful," Rorschach reminded him coldly before hanging up.
With all the pieces in place, Rorschach sat before the floor-to-ceiling window of his apartment, looking down at the bustling New York City, his eyes deep and sharp.
Like a master strategist at a chessboard, every move he made was incredibly precise. Every person and every event was within his control.
Soldier Boy's fire of vengeance, Homelander's flames of rage, Vought International's death throes, and The Boys' frantic revenge—all these conflicts would completely explode in the near future.
And he, Rorschach, would stand at the peak of the storm, watching coldly, then strike to plunder everything and ascend as king.
The storm was coming, the great battle was imminent, and a look of anticipation curled Rorschach's lips.
"Homelander, Soldier Boy... I will be taking both of your abilities."
Chapter 40: Tracking the Killer, Rorschach's Scheme
Rainy nights in New York always carried a damp, fishy smell. Neon lights blurred into indistinct color blocks on the wet streets, and the spire of Vought Tower pierced through the rain curtain, like a steel beast lurking in the heart of the city.
Rorschach leaned back in the passenger seat of the black SUV, his fingertips casually tapping his knee. A cynical smile played on his handsome face, but his eyes held an unfathomable coldness and calculation.
Billy Butcher, in the driver's seat, clenched an unlit cigar between his teeth, his face so gloomy it looked like it could drip water. His rough voice carried suppressed anger: "Rorschach, are you sure that old geezer Soldier Boy really came to New York? I heard that guy was a lunatic Vought buried decades ago. If he causes a ruckus, all of New Yorkwill be turned upside down."
Rorschach turned his head and said playfully, "Butcher, you've been with me for so long, and you still don't trust my information? Vought's trump card, hidden for so many years, is now running wild on its own. Isn't this exactly what we want? Besides, I asked you to find him, not to reminisce with him."
"I know you want to take down Homelander, but Soldier Boy is even harder to deal with than Homelander. He's unruly, kills without batting an eye, and it's said his teammates were all screwed over by him back in the day." Butcher stepped on the brake, and the car stopped below a dilapidated apartment building in Brooklyn. This was the precise location Rorschach had given.
Rorschach pushed open the car door and adjusted his collar, his tone certain: "Hard to deal with? Even the most difficult people have a weakness. He hates Vought, hates those who betrayed him, and we can just happen to help this old man. Oh, and after you see him, remember to praise Homelander a lot."
"Praise Homelander?" Butcher looked bewildered, thinking he had misheard. "Rorschach, are you crazy? That guy is our mortal enemy, I'd love to skin him alive!"
"You must praise him." Rorschach lowered his voice, his dark calculations fully revealed. "You have to tell him that Homelander is now Vought's lifeline, the strongest in the world, and Vought even believes Homelander is stronger, not weaker, than Soldier Boy was back then. Also tell him that Homelander is ruthless, extremely controlling, and even wants to step on everyone. You need to let him know that Homelander is not only Vought's dog, but also a fiercer, more dangerous beast than him, blocking his path to revenge and his path to regaining control of everything."
Butcher paused, then reacted, slamming his hand on the steering wheel: "Brilliant! You have more evil schemes in your head than I do! Soldier Boy is arrogant; he was a national symbol back then. How could he tolerate Homelander riding over him? With a little provocation, he should cooperate with us!"
"Smart." Rorschach nodded approvingly. "The terms of cooperation are simple: he helps us bring down Vought and kill Homelander, and we help him find all the teammates who ambushed him back then, so he can get his revenge personally. As for your sincerity, haven't we already captured Black Noir? Just hand him over as a Meeting gift (meeting gift)."
At the mention of Black Noir, Butcher's eyes grew cold: "That coward hiding in armor? I've got him tied up in the warehouse, perfect to whet Soldier Boy's appetite."
The two entered the apartment building. The hallway reeked of mold and alcohol. The door to the third floor was ajar, and the sound of breaking bottles and low curses came from inside.
Butcher pushed the door open first, while Rorschachsilently followed, observing from the shadows.
Inside the room, a burly man with a weathered face was drinking on the sofa. He wore a worn leather jacket and exuded a battle-hardened ferocity. His eyes were cloudy but held a defiant arrogance that looked down on the world. It was Soldier Boy, awakened after decades of slumber.
Soldier Boy looked up, glanced at Butcher, and said dismissively, "What do you want from me? Want to cooperate? You're not worthy."
Butcher, following Rorschach's instructions, did not get angry. Instead, he sat opposite him and said in a deep voice, "I may not be worthy, but there's someone you'll definitely be interested in—Homelander."
Hearing that name, Soldier Boy's eyes narrowed slightly, and he put down the bottle.
"Homelander is now Vought's trump card, the boss of the superheroes. His strength is ridiculously powerful; his Laser Eyes can melt steel, and he flies faster than a missile. He's ruthless, even daring to kill Vought's high-ranking executives." Butcher embellished the description, exaggerating Homelander's power and threat to the extreme. "He doesn't even put you in his eyes, saying you're an outdated old thing and Vought should have completely destroyed you long ago. He wants to be the only superhero, to rule the entire world, and anyone who stands in his way must die."
Soldier Boy's fists slowly clenched, his knuckles turning white, and a raging fire ignited in his eyes. The thing he hated most in his life was being looked down upon, and even more, having someone snatch his position. Homelander's existence was the greatest insult to him.
"Vought, Homelander..." Soldier Boy gritted his teeth. "A bunch of scumbags. The people who ambushed me back then were definitely involved with Vought!"
"Exactly." Butcher struck while the iron was hot. "I can help you find all the teammates who betrayed you back then, so you can get your revenge personally. There's only one condition: you team up with me to bring down Vought and kill Homelander."
Soldier Boy was silent for a moment, then a wild laugh echoed in the room: "Interesting! Deal! But I need to see your sincerity first. The people who betrayed me, I want to crush them one by one with my own hands!"
Butcher's lips curled into a smile, and he pulled out his phone to send a message: "Don't worry, the first gift is already prepared for you."
Half an hour later, the two brought Soldier Boy to a warehouse in the suburbs. Black Noir was tied to a chair, unable to move.
The moment Soldier Boy saw Black Noir, his eyes became incredibly cold; it was a hatred etched into his bones.
"It's you... you were also involved in ambushing me back then!"
Black Noir tried to struggle but couldn't make any sound, only fearful whimpers.
Soldier Boy slowly walked forward. Without hesitation, dazzling red energy gathered in his chest, and a violent energy blast directly struck Black Noir's chest.
Boom!
After the loud bang, Black Noir didn't even let out a scream, directly turning into a pile of fragments scattered everywhere.
Soldier Boy shook the blood from his hands and looked at Butcher with satisfaction: "Efficient work. Next, give me the location of the next traitor."
Rorschach, hidden in the shadows, curved his lips into a triumphant smile. Everything was proceeding according to his plan, and he only needed to reap the benefits and plunder those coveted superpowers.
Chapter 41: Old Love Destroyed, Crimson Countess
After dealing with Noir, Soldier Boy's mood clearly improved considerably. Sitting in Butcher's car, he drank whiskey while urging them toward the next target.
Butcher glanced at the message from Rorschach on his phone and said in a heavy tone, "Next, Crimson Countess. Your ex-girlfriend. She was the one who personally drugged you back then, cooperating with the others to send you into the lab."
Hearing the words "Crimson Countess," a complex look flashed in Soldier Boy's eyes for a moment—anger, resentment, and a trace of long-buried complicated emotions—but it was quickly covered by killing intent.
"Where is she?"
"In a villa in Queens. Over the years, thanks to her 'merits' back then, she's been thriving at Vought, having long forgotten the dirty deeds she did."
The car drove all the way to Queens, with Rorschach still following far behind, unnoticed by anyone.
He had already started calculating in his mind. Crimson Countess's abilities were Fire Manipulation and basic flight, both of which he currently lacked. Once he obtained her blood, it would perfectly supplement his ability library, and his points would increase another notch.
Inside the villa, Crimson Countess was wearing an elegant gown, adjusting her makeup in front of the mirror. Decades had not left many traces on her face; her superpowers allowed her to maintain a mature and alluring appearance.
Suddenly, the door was violently kicked open. Soldier Boy's tall figure appeared in the doorway, startling Crimson Countess so much that she trembled all over, the lipstick in her hand falling to the floor.
"You... you?" She couldn't believe her eyes, her face instantly turning deathly pale, her body trembling uncontrollably. "Aren't you dead? How are you here..."
Soldier Boy stepped into the villa, his eyes icy as he stared at her. "I'm dead? You personally sent me to hell, and now you ask how I'm here? Darling, you seem to be living quite well."
Out of instinctive fear of Soldier Boy, Crimson Countess's legs gave way, and she fell to her knees on the floor, pleading bitterly. "I was wrong! Back then, I was forced too! Vought pressured me, Mindstorm and Gunpowderthreatened me! If I didn't do it, they would have killed me! I never meant to harm you, I loved you!"
She cried pitifully, trying to move Soldier Boy with their past affection, her mature face full of fear and regret.
Soldier Boy looked at her pitiful appearance, his eyes wavering slightly. He had always been weak against mature women, let alone a former girlfriend. He was silent for a moment, his tone softening a bit. "Get up."
Crimson Countess was overjoyed and quickly scrambled to her feet, tightly clinging to Soldier Boy's arm, thanking him repeatedly. "Thank you! I knew you wouldn't kill me!"
Hidden outside the villa window, Rorschach raised an eyebrow, a mocking smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. He knew Soldier Boy's nature too well. This guy might say he'd let her go, but he had no intention of leaving her alive, especially someone who had betrayed him. It was just a momentary indulgence in lingering affection.
Sure enough, that night, Crimson Countess kept Soldier Boy at the villa for a night of passion.
Early the next morning, the first rays of sunlight shone through the window into the bedroom. Crimson Countesswas still fast asleep, a relieved smile on her face.
Soldier Boy slowly sat up, his eyes turning cold and ruthless once more. He looked at the woman beside him without a trace of attachment, red energy beginning to gather in his chest again.
"Those who betray me never come to a good end."
Boom!
The energy blast shot out instantly. Crimson Countessdidn't even have a chance to open her eyes before she perished on the spot, blood splattering across the bed.
Soldier Boy put on his clothes and left the villa without looking back, heading to meet up with Butcher.
After confirming Soldier Boy was far away, Rorschachdeactivated his invisibility, pushed open the door, and entered the bedroom. Looking at the bloodstains on the bed, his face showed no ripple of emotion.
He took out a pre-prepared test tube, collected a bit of Crimson Countess's blood, and gently touched it with his fingertip.
Instantly, a cold system notification sounded in his mind:
[Detected superhuman blood. Beginning ability plunder...]
[Ability Obtained: Fire Manipulation Lv1., Flight Lv1.]
[Points Obtained: 2]
[Fusion of similar-nature abilities in progress. Fire Manipulation Lv1. fusing with Energy Manipulation ability. Level increased to Lv1.6]
[Host: Rorschach]
[Abilities: Super Speed Lv1.2, Invisibility Lv1., Super Defense Lv2., Animal Communication Lv1.0, Super Strength Lv1.3, Energy Manipulation Lv1.6, Super Hearing Lv1.0, Shapeshifting Lv1.0, Super Regeneration Lv1.5, Telepathy Lv1.1, Agelessness Lv1.0, Mind Control Lv1.0, Flight Lv1.0]
[Current Total Points: 24]
Rorschach felt the newly added fire energy and Flight Ability within him and smiled with satisfaction, thinking to himself, "Not bad for an old acquaintance. The abilities she delivered are quite practical. Next up, it's Gunpowder's turn."
He cleaned up his traces and left the villa without a sound, like a shadow hunter who had never been there, continuing to wait for the next hunting opportunity.
Chapter 42: Gunpowder
After Soldier Boy dealt with Crimson Countess, his killing intent grew even stronger. Sitting in the car, he continuously urged Butcher to find the next traitor.
Butcher, annoyed by his constant prodding, had no choice but to contact Rorschach again to confirm Gunpowder's location.
Rorschach had already returned home by then. While fending off his girlfriends, he sent the location to Butcher. "Don't rush, brother. The prey is already at our doorstep. Gunpowder is currently hiding in an old house in The Bronx, carousing with his fair-weather friends. It's perfect for Soldier Boy to take them all out in one fell swoop."
"You always hide in the back enjoying yourself while we do all the fighting," Butcher complained, but he knew in his heart that Rorschach's intelligence and calculations were key to their plan's smooth progression.
"Each to his own role. I'm responsible for strategizing, and you're responsible for charging into battle. Perfect." Rorschach hung up the phone, leaned back on the sofa, and felt the newly acquired ability within him, a smile playing on his lips.
Gunpowder's ability was Super Strength. Although not top-tier, Super Strength could merge with his existing abilities to raise their level, which was quite good for him at the moment.
In an old house in The Bronx, Gunpowder was drinking and playing cards with a few of his cronies. The room was thick with smoke, a chaotic mess. Years ago, by betraying Soldier Boy, he had received a large sum of money from Vought. He had been hiding here, living a carefree life, thinking those matters were long past.
Suddenly, the front door was kicked open. Soldier Boy's tall figure stood in the doorway like the grim reaper, his cold gaze locked onto Gunpowder.
"Soldier Boy?!" Gunpowder was scared out of his wits, the poker cards in his hand scattering on the floor. His drinking buddies, seeing this, panicked and fled in all directions, scrambling to get away from there. After all, who didn't know there was a madman named Soldier Boy killing people all over the city?
"You're actually still alive!" Gunpowder trembled as he stood up, wanting to resist. His Super Strength was formidable among ordinary people, but in front of Soldier Boy, it was nothing.
"All the traitors who betrayed me must die." Soldier Boydidn't waste any words. He took a step and charged forward.
Gunpowder swung his fist at Soldier Boy, but Soldier Boygrabbed his wrist. With a crunch, his wrist was directly crushed.
"Ah!" Gunpowder let out a bloodcurdling scream, writhing on the ground in pain.
Soldier Boy looked down at him with no trace of pity in his eyes. A violent red energy condensed in his chest, and without hesitation, he blasted it out.
"No!!"
Boom!
The energy blast pierced through Gunpowder's body, blowing a large hole in the old house's wall. Gunpowderdied instantly, blood splattering everywhere.
Soldier Boy shook his hand and snorted coldly, "Useless."
With that, he turned and left to rendezvous with Butcher, preparing to find the last traitor—Mindstorm.
Throughout the entire process, Rorschach remained hidden in a distant corner, observing with cold eyes. He didn't intervene or disturb, perfectly adhering to his principle of discreet development.
Only when Soldier Boy's figure completely disappeared at the end of the street did Rorschach walk over to Gunpowder's corpse and take out a test tube to collect blood.
The moment his fingertip touched the blood, the system prompt sounded again:
[Detected supe blood, beginning ability plunder...]
[Acquired ability: Super Strength 1.]
[Acquired points: 1]
[Abilities of the same nature have merged, Super Strength level increased to 1.4]
[Host: Rorschach]
[Abilities: Super Speed 1.2, Invisibility 1., Super Defense 2., Animal Communication 1.0, Super Strength 1.4, Energy Manipulation 1.6, Super Hearing 1.0, Shapeshifting 1.0, Super Regeneration 1.5, Telepathy 1.1, Immortality 1.0, Mind Control 1.0, Flight 1.0]
[Current total points: 25]
Feeling the surging power within him, Rorschach clenched his fists. He could clearly feel the explosive force contained in his muscles, which was more than just a little stronger than before.
"Not bad, not bad, another level up. This business is a sure profit," Rorschach muttered contentedly, cleaning up the traces at the scene before disappearing again with Invisibility.
His current abilities were becoming more comprehensive: Super Strength, Super Defense, Super Regeneration, Energy Manipulation, Invisibility, Shapeshifting, Telepathy, Mind Control, Fire Manipulation, Flight. They covered almost all aspects of combat, stealth, control, and elemental attacks. He had also accumulated 25 points, which should bring him closer to a qualitative change.
Meanwhile, Butcher, based on Rorschach's intelligence, had already located Mindstorm—in an RV in the suburbs. This culprit, who had brainwashed Soldier Boy and put him to sleep for decades, was still leisurely enjoying life, completely unaware that death was fast approaching.
Chapter 43: Mindstorm, Transformation
On a forest path in the suburbs of New York, a modified RV was parked under the shade of trees. The environment was beautiful, looking cozy and pleasant.
Inside the RV, Mindstorm was lying on the sofa, drinking red wine and watching TV, living a leisurely life. She had temporarily controlled Soldier Boy's mind with her psychic abilities back then, making her the biggest contributor to Soldier Boy's slumber. For years, she had been hiding here, far from Vought's conflicts, thinking she could live out her days peacefully.
Butcher's car slowly approached and parked by the roadside. Soldier Boy looked at the RV in the distance, his eyes practically spitting fire. Compared to Black Noir, Crimson Countess, and Gunpowder, he hated Mindstormthe most.
Soldier Boy gritted his teeth, the killing intent in his eyes almost solidifying.
"She was the one who controlled you with her psychic abilities, leaving you defenseless when Vought sent you to the lab," Butcher said in a deep voice. "Her psychic abilities are very strong, be careful."
"Psychic abilities? They're nothing in the face of absolute power!" Soldier Boy laughed arrogantly, pushed open the car door, and walked straight towards the RV.
His footsteps were heavy, rustling the fallen leaves. Mindstorm inside the RV instantly sensed danger. Her psychic perception was extremely strong, and she immediately felt a monstrous killing intent approaching her.
She stood up abruptly, intending to launch a psychic attack, but found the RV door had already been kicked open by Soldier Boy.
"Soldier Boy?!" Mindstorm's face turned pale, and she retreated in fear. She hadn't expected this monster, whom she had controlled for decades, to actually awaken and find her here.
"How dare you find me? I can control your mind!" Mindstorm feigned composure, activating her psychic abilities, trying to control Soldier Boy again.
But at this moment, after decades of slumber, Soldier Boy's mind had become incredibly resilient. Coupled with the hatred in his heart breaking through all psychic interference, Mindstorm's psychic attack had little effect on him.
"Your little tricks are useless against me," Soldier Boyapproached step by step, his gaze as cold as a knife.
Mindstorm completely panicked, trying to escape, but Soldier Boy grabbed her by the neck and lifted her into the air.
"When you controlled me back then, you never thought this day would come, did you?" Soldier Boy's voice was like a whisper of death.
Mindstorm struggled desperately but couldn't break free. Her face turned crimson, and her breathing became increasingly difficult.
Soldier Boy didn't hesitate. Red energy once again gathered in his chest. This time, the energy was more violent than ever before, containing decades of his resentment and anger.
"Die!"
Boom!
The energy blast directly tore through Mindstorm's body. The RV was blown to pieces, flames instantly ignited, and Mindstorm died on the spot.
Soldier Boy released his hand, looked at the burning RV, and let out a long sigh of relief. Decades of hatred had finally been partially avenged.
"Finally done," Soldier Boy stretched his limbs, his tone much lighter. "Butcher, find a motel. I need to rest for two days, find some mature ladies to chat about life with, and relax."
Butcher rolled his eyes, long accustomed to Soldier Boy's quirks, and could only nod in agreement: "Alright, there's a motel nearby. I'll take you."
After the two left, the forest returned to quiet, with only the crackling sound of the burning RV.
Rorschach's figure slowly emerged from the woods. He had been observing from the shadows the entire time, watching Soldier Boy kill Mindstorm without revealing any trace.
He walked to the wreckage of the RV, found Mindstorm's bloodstains in the ashes, collected them in a test tube, and lightly touched them with his fingertip.
The cold system prompt sounded on time:
[Detected superpowered blood, beginning ability plunder...]
[Acquired abilities: Mind Control 1., Illusion Creation 1.]
[Acquired points: 2]
[Abilities of similar nature are merging... Mind Control 1.and Illusion Creation 1. are merging into Mind Control 1.1, Mind Control level increased to 1.3]
[Host: Rorschach]
[Abilities: Super Speed 1.2, Invisibility 1., Super Defense 2., Animal Communication 1.0, Super Strength 1.4, Energy Manipulation 1.6, Super Hearing 1.0, Shapeshifting 1.0, Super Regeneration 1.5, Telepathy 1.1, Immortality 1.0, Mind Control 1.3, Flight 1.0]
[Current total points: 27]
Rorschach closed his eyes, feeling the transformation of his mental abilities. His original Mind Control had greatly improved, and Illusion Creation could now conjure false illusions in others' minds, perfectly suited for stealth and confusing enemies.
"Perfect, my mental abilities have advanced another step, and my cautious development is more stable," Rorschachmurmured to himself. "Next, it's time to acquire some more powerful abilities. That small goal I've deliberately ignored, it's time to act on it."
He thought of Ryan, Homelander's biological son. As the son of a copycat Superman, he possessed almost complete Superman-like abilities. He hadn't felt rushed before, but now, to safely deal with the upcoming Vought War, acquiring Ryan's abilities was definitely the wisest choice.
Rorschach cleared his tracks, activated his Flight Ability, and transformed into a black shadow, flying towards Ryan and Becca's hiding place.
Chapter 44: Ryan's Great Power Upgrades
Chapter 5: Outsmarting Ryan, The Little Superman's Gift of Abilities
Rorschach, relying on his Flight 1.0 ability, swiftly traveled through the clouds and soon arrived at the secluded cabin where Becca and Ryan were hiding.
This was a safe house Rorschach had previously arranged for them, far from the city and extremely private. He had saved Becca and her son's lives before, a kindness Beccahad always remembered.
Rorschach landed at the cabin door, deactivated his Flight and Invisibility, tidied his clothes, and knocked on the door.
The door quickly opened, and Becca's face showed surprise when she saw Rorschach: "Rorschach? Why are you here? It's very safe here, Homelander shouldn't be able to find it."
"Becca, I know it's safe here. I came this time because I need your help with something." Rorschach walked into the cabin, a gentle, exceptionally sincere smile on his face.
Ryan was sitting on the sofa watching TV. Seeing Rorschach, a timid expression appeared on his small face. He had an innate fear of Vought International people, especially since Rorschach used to be Vought Internationalsecurity.
Rorschach looked at Ryan, his eyes softening a bit. He knew Ryan was just a child and didn't want to scare him.
"I need a drop of Ryan's blood," Rorschach stated his purpose directly, without concealment. "Don't worry, I won't harm him. It's just for a small study, and it won't have any negative effect on him."
Becca's face instantly changed, and she instinctively shielded Ryan behind her: "What do you want his blood for?"
"Becca, calm down," Rorschach said calmly. "I know Ryan's identity and his abilities. I won't use his blood for anything bad, and I certainly won't harm him. Have you forgotten who saved you and your son? Who helped you escape Homelander's pursuit? I have no ill will towards Ryan; I just need his abilities now to deal with Homelander and Vought International."
He paused, then continued: "Homelander will find this place sooner or later. Only if I become strong enough can I truly protect you and free you and Ryan from the shadows of Vought International and Homelander forever. This drop of blood isn't just helping me; it's helping yourselves."
Becca fell silent. She remembered how Rorschach had risked his life to save her and her son back then, and how he had secretly protected them all these years, never harming them. She looked at Ryan beside her, then at Rorschach's determined eyes, and her heart began to waver.
"Ryan is just a child..." Becca's tone softened.
"I know, that's why I only need one drop of blood, just a gentle prick, it won't hurt," Rorschach said softly.
Becca squatted down, hugged Ryan, and gently comforted him: "Ryan, don't be afraid. This uncle is a good person. He just needs a tiny bit of your blood, he won't hurt you. After this, we'll be safe forever, okay?"
Ryan blinked, looking at Becca's gentle eyes, then at Rorschach's kind smile, and nodded slightly.
Rorschach took out a specially prepared syringe, gently pricked Ryan's fingertip, squeezed out a drop of bright red blood, and collected it in a test tube.
Throughout the entire process, Ryan didn't cry, only frowned slightly.
"Thank you, Ryan," Rorschach said, patting his head with an approving smile.
After getting the blood, Rorschach bid farewell and left, then eagerly touched the blood with his fingertip. Immediately, the cold system prompt sounded like heavenly music in his mind, making him extremely excited:
[Detected Supe (Ryan) blood. Beginning ability extraction...]
[Abilities acquired: Super Strength 1.0, Super Defense 1.0, Super Regeneration 1.0, Super Speed 1.0, Flight 1.0, Super Hearing 1.0, Super Sight 1.0, Laser Eyes 1.0]
[Points acquired: 8]
[Current total points: 35]
[Merging similar abilities...]
[Super Strength 1.0 merged with existing 1.4, upgraded to 1.5]
[Super Defense 1.0 merged with existing 2.0, upgraded to 2.0]
[Super Regeneration 1.0 merged with existing 1.5, upgraded to 1.6]
[Super Speed 1.0 merged with existing 1.2, upgraded to 1.3]
[Flight 1.0 merged with existing 1.0, upgraded to 1.1]
[Super Hearing 1.0, Super Sight 1.0, Animal Communication 1.0 merged into Telepathy 1.3, Telepathyupgraded to 1.4]
The series of prompts almost made Rorschach laugh out loud. As expected of the Little Homelander, the knock-off Little Superman, his abilities were ridiculously comprehensive. Every single one was a top-tier Superman-type ability, and his points directly increased by 8, immediately pushing his total points past 3500!
He felt the earth-shattering changes within his body. His overall strength had directly doubled compared to before. The comprehensive ability upgrade made his body feel full of endless power, and all his senses, defense, self-healing, and speed had undergone a qualitative leap.
"I've hit the jackpot, this was a huge gain!" Rorschach was ecstatic internally, and the boastful words slipped out, "Little Superman is Little Superman, even the abilities he gives are top-notch. Now I have even more confidence in dealing with Homelander and Soldier Boy!"
Chapter 45: Ability Metamorphosis, Awaiting the Great Battle
Rorschach looked at the brand-new ability panel in his mind, unable to hide the smile on his face. At this moment, he was no longer the Vought security guard who could only rely on schemes and basic abilities for cautious development. Instead, he was a top-tier powerhouse with nearly comprehensive superhuman abilities, psychic powers, elemental abilities, and Energy Manipulation.
[Host: Rorschach]
[Abilities: Super Speed 1.3, Invisibility 1., Super Defense 2., Super Strength 1.5, Energy Manipulation 1.6, Shapeshifting 1.0, Super Regeneration 1.6, Telepathy 1.4, Immortality 1.0, Mind Control 1.3, Flight 1.1, Laser Eyes 1.0]
[Current Total Points: 35]
Each ability was formidable. After integrating abilities of similar nature, their levels steadily increased, and he had accumulated 35 points, enough to upgrade to level two abilities at any time, or save them for Time travel(transversing) other worlds, giving him complete flexibility.
He didn't go home immediately but flew towards an uninhabited island deep in the Atlantic Ocean. He needed to find a secluded place to thoroughly test his new abilities and familiarize himself with the transformation of his body and powers.
The island deep in the ocean was deserted, covered with reefs, and waves gently lapped the shore, making soft sounds.
Rorschach landed in the center of the island, took a deep breath, and began to test his abilities.
First was Super Speed. He took a step, and his body instantly transformed into an afterimage, swiftly moving across the island, leaving a series of blurs. His speed was nearly twice as fast as before, even able to catch up with seabirds flying at low altitudes.
Next was Super Strength. He clenched his fist and punched a giant reef beside him.
Boom!
With a loud bang, the reef, several meters in diameter, was shattered by his punch, sending fragments flying with astonishing power.
Then came Super Defense. He condensed Energy Manipulation, releasing an energy shockwave around himself, and then used Laser Eyes to shoot at his own arm. The red laser beam landed on his skin, leaving only a faint white mark, not even breaking the skin. Super Defense 2., with the effects of several previous level one Super Defense enhancements, was terrifying.
Super Regeneration was even more outrageous. He deliberately used a specialized sharp weapon to cut his arm, and blood immediately flowed out. But in just one second, the wound healed at a visible speed, leaving no scar.
Laser Eyes, Flight... Rorschach tested one ability after another, using each with ease. Energy Manipulation 1.5 could perfectly integrate all abilities, including electricity, fire, and light energy, boosting his combat power to the extreme.
"This is amazing!" Rorschach stood on the reef of the island, facing the sea breeze, laughing loudly. "Now, even if I go head-to-head with Homelander, I can fight him to a draw, not to mention having Soldier Boy, that reckless brute, taking damage in front!"
After testing all his abilities, Rorschach was satisfied. He activated his Flight Ability and flew towards his home in New York.
His home housed his four girlfriends: Queen Maeve, Starlight, Kimiko, and Eileen. He had won them over with his handsome appearance, powerful abilities, and cunning methods. Each was as beautiful as a flower and exceptionally capable.
Returning home, he pushed open the door, and his four girlfriends immediately gathered around him.
"Rorschach, where did you go? It took you so long to come back." Queen Maeve hugged his arm, her mature face full of tenderness.
Starlight handed him a cup of warm water and said with a smile, "We thought you'd be busy for a few more days before coming back."
Kimiko and Eileen also snuggled beside him, their eyes full of dependence.
Rorschach played with his four beautiful companions at home, enjoying the comfort of their company, and said, "Of course, I went to earn you a sense of security. Now, I am strong enough to protect you."
He leaned back on the sofa, leisurely watching TV, silently waiting in his heart.
Waiting for Soldier Boy, that reckless brute, to directly attack Vought Tower, waiting for his final battle with Homelander to unfold.
And he, Rorschach, only needed to sit back and watch the tigers fight, ultimately reaping the benefits and becoming the true king of the The Boys Universe.
Chapter 46: A Gentle Embrace, Undercurrents Stirring
The night in New York was as gentle as water, and Rorschach's villa was brightly lit, warm and romantic.
Queen Maeve leaned on his shoulder, her fingertips gently tracing his chest, her tone laced with a hint of worry: "Rorschach, things within Vought have been getting more chaotic lately. Homelander has been irritable and killing people at the drop of a hat. You must be careful when you're out."
Starlight sat beside him, her arms around his neck, echoing: "That's right, Homelander has gone completely mad. He doesn't even care about Vought's executives. I'm worried he'll do something even crazier."
Kimiko couldn't speak, but she hugged his arm, rubbing her head against it to express her concern. Eileen gently massaged his shoulder, her eyes as tender as water.
Rorschach felt their tenderness, and his heart warmed. "Don't worry, my little darlings. That madman Homelanderwon't be jumping around for much longer. As I am now, even if he's just gone crazy, even if he truly rules the world, I don't fear him."
His tone was light and casual, yet it carried an undeniable confidence. His strength was far beyond what it used to be; he just needed Soldier Boy, that brute, to wear them down a bit first before he could confidently reap the rewards.
Queen Maeve rolled her eyes at him, chiding, "You're just bragging. We all know how strong Homelander is; don't underestimate him."
"Underestimate? I never underestimate anyone." Rorschachpinched Queen Maeve's cheek, a sly smile on his face. "I just like to watch others fight and then reap the benefits. You'll see, in a few days, Vought Tower will be turned upside down, and Homelander will be in a sorry state."
The four beauties exchanged glances, unsure of what Rorschach's confidence stemmed from, but seeing his self-assured demeanor, their worries lessened somewhat.
They all knew Rorschach's capabilities; he seemed cynical but always managed to do the unexpected.
Rorschach stayed home with the beauties, enjoying the comfort of their gentle embrace while planning his next moves in his mind.
He currently had 35 points, enough to upgrade one ability to Level 2, or save them for traveling to other worlds. However, he planned to save the points for now, and after taking down Homelander and Soldier Boy and plundering their abilities, he would then uniformly upgrade his shortcomings, which would be more cost-effective.
As for Soldier Boy, after
Butcher had also sent Rorschach a few messages these past two days, saying that Soldier Boy was impatient and ready to storm Vought Tower at any moment, asking if Rorschach wanted to join the action.
Rorschach replied, telling Butcher not to rush, to let Soldier Boy do as he pleased and charge straight in, and that he would provide support from the shadows.
He wanted Soldier Boy, that brute, to confront Vought Tower's defenses and Homelander first. When the two were both severely wounded, he would make his move, taking them both down in one fell swoop, plundering all their abilities, and unifying the The Boys Universe.
"My darlings, stay home with me, watch some TV, enjoy some good food, and have a few peaceful days." Rorschachkissed Starlight's forehead, his voice gentle. "Once the farce outside is over, we'll travel the world and never have to deal with Vought and those superhero shenanigans again."
The beauties all nodded, snuggling into his arms, enjoying this rare moment of warmth.
Rorschach closed his eyes, activating Telepathy, instantly catching the conversation between Soldier Boy and Butcher a few kilometers away in the motel.
"Butcher, I've rested enough, it's time to deal with Homelander and those Vought bastards!" Soldier Boy's arrogant voice rang out.
"Are you sure you want to charge straight in? Vought Tower has many superheroes and security personnel, and Homelander is there. It's very dangerous," Butcher advised.
"Dangerous? In my eyes, they're all trash! I'll just kill my way through, blast Vought Tower flat with one shot. Even if Homelander is strong, he can't withstand my energy blast!"
Rorschach's lips curled into a playful smile, thinking to himself, "A brute is a brute, indeed. Just as I expected, he's about to make his move. The show is finally about to begin."
Chapter 47: Preparations Complete Before the War
For the next day, Rorschach stayed at home with the four beautiful women. He didn't go out, didn't contact Butcher, and didn't pay attention to any news from Vought, thoroughly adhering to the principle of quietly developing and watching the tigers fight from the mountain.
He sometimes walked with Queen Maeve in the garden, sometimes cooked with Starlight, and sometimes played games with Kimiko and Eileen. Life was leisurely and carefree, as if the outside world's conflicts had nothing to do with him.
But in reality, his Super Hearing and Super Vision were always on, occasionally monitoring the movements of Soldier Boy and Vought Tower, not missing a single detail.
During the day, Soldier Boy was restless in the motel, constantly urging Butcher to leave. Butcher, pressured by him, could only start formulating a simple plan. In fact, it wasn't really a plan, just following Soldier Boy to charge in, as Soldier Boy's personality meant he wouldn't listen to any tactical arrangements.
In Vought Tower, Homelander stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows on the top floor, overlooking all of New York, his face grim. He had recently been feeling an inexplicable threat, as if some danger was approaching, but he had searched all over New York and found no clues.
"What exactly is watching me?" Homelander clenched his fists, his red Laser Eyes flickering in his eyes. "No matter who it is, if they dare to block my path, I will crush them to pieces!"
Vought's executives were even more terrified, reassuring Homelander while strengthening the tower's defenses, dispatching a large number of security personnel and superheroes, fearing that someone would cause trouble.
Rorschach, using his Super Vision, saw Vought Tower's deployment clearly and sneered inwardly: "No matter how many defenses, they are just paper in front of Soldier Boy's Berserk Energy Cannon. Homelander, just wait to be beaten by your old man."
In the evening, Rorschach finished dinner with the four ladies and sat in the living room watching a movie, the atmosphere warm and sweet.
Eileen leaned in his arms and whispered, "Rorschach, do you think something really might happen outside? I always feel uneasy."
"Uneasy about what? With me here, even if the sky falls, I'll hold it up," Rorschach patted her back, his tone firm. "Even if New York explodes, I can protect you all safely."
Queen Maeve sighed: "I'm just worried about you. If you go out and get involved, you must be careful. We can't be without you."
"Don't worry, I won't act easily," Rorschach smiled slyly. "I will only appear at the most opportune moment."
As soon as he finished speaking, his Telepathy suddenly picked up Soldier Boy's roar from the motel.
"Butcher, let's go! To Vought Tower now! I'm going to tear Homelander to pieces with my own hands!"
Immediately after, there was the sound of a car engine starting. Soldier Boy drove the car, taking Butcher, and headed straight towards Vought Tower.
Rorschach's eyes instantly sharpened. The show had officially begun.
He stood up and said to the four ladies: "Babies, stay home, lock the doors and windows. No matter what happens outside, don't come out. I'm going out for a bit and will be back soon."
"Rorschach, where are you going?" His girlfriends quickly grabbed him, their faces full of worry.
"To watch a good show," Rorschach kissed their foreheads, smiling playfully. "After this show, New York will be peaceful, and your man will be the final winner."
With that, he activated his Flight Ability, his body instantly disappearing from the living room, turning into a black shadow, breaking through the window, and rapidly flying towards Vought Tower in the city.
At this moment, he was fully prepared, just waiting for the great battle between Soldier Boy and Homelander to begin. He would then watch coldly from the shadows, awaiting the best moment to strike, plunder everything, and ascend to the peak.
