Chapter 24 - The Redemption of the Pure Girl

A luxurious carriage sped down the road, heading from E-Rantel towards the Capital of the Kingdom.

On such a dark night, things lurking in the shadows seemed to be stirring; the rustling of grass and a flash of a white figure passed by.

As the carriage ran on the newly paved road, the people inside only felt a slight bump, as if they were lambs waiting to be slaughtered, completely at ease.

Zach couldn't help but laugh out loud. After signaling his companions in the distance, he happily thought about how he would enjoy Solution.

This wasn't the first time their mercenary group had done such a thing. Those rich people were so foolish, it was practically effortless. He hoped that when it was his turn, this young lady wouldn't be as unresponsive as the girls they had attacked before.

Inside the carriage, everyone held their breath nervously, with only Sig's voice speaking.

"Guildmaster, I've met up with Shalltear. Have you arrived in E-Rantel yet?"

"Yes, I brought Clementine with me. She knows a lot about the situation in Zuranon."

"Clementine, huh? Bringing her along is indeed much more convenient, but she's a wanted person. There's a chance she could be discovered by the Windflower Scripture, so it's best to be careful."

"It's fine. Demiurge has already guaranteed it to me, and I don't think there will be any problems. But you shouldn't bully such a pure girl in the future."

"Demiurge? Huh? Where's Nabe?"

What nonsense are you talking about?

If there weren't others present, Sig would definitely have said the latter sentence. How could Clementine possibly be associated with the word 'pure'?

Isn't she the 'Comedian'?

"No, I only brought Clementine. Demiurge helped her re-class as a Holy Priest, and since she's originally from this world, it's easier for her to blend in. Albedo also thought it was a good idea."

Recalling Demiurge's words, Sig seemed to have thought of something, but also as if he hadn't grasped the main point.

His mind was in a mess, and he could only say dryly, "But the safety issue..."

"If I encounter an enemy I can't defeat, bringing a maid won't help. If it's just for escort, Clementine is enough, and it's easy to get along with her. I don't have to put on the airs of a superior."

Ainz on the other side seemed very happy. This was indeed the case; although he couldn't complain, he didn't have to be so tired every day.

After the 'processing,' loyalty was no longer a concern—those were Demiurge's exact words.

Although he didn't know what exactly this 'processing' entailed, it certainly felt like a complete transformation. As expected of Demiurge!

"Alright, you've convinced me."

Sig sighed, supporting his face with his hand, somewhat depressed. This story's direction felt off, but he truly had no reason to refute it.

"Sig-san, do you think Clementine was stolen by me? Hahaha!"

"How could that be!"

Sig shouted excitedly. Shalltear, sitting beside him, was startled and softly said, "Lord Sig, are you alright?"

Sebas also tensed his body, and Solution huddled in the corner with a worried expression.

"That's not it. Anyway, don't tell Albedo about this."

"Okay, after all, modifying settings is our little secret."

"Hey, Guildmaster, don't say such strange things. You're the one who did it."

"Sig-san, can you bear to see me get scolded alone?"

Sig noticed their fervent gossiping gazes and said helplessly, "Let's not talk about this for now. Go get busy."

"Bye-bye. See you when we return to Nazarick."

"Sebas, is there anything you need to report?" Sig met Sebas's gaze.

He had been somewhat concerned earlier; why did Sebas look like he had something to say but was holding back?

"Is it about Demiurge?"

Sebas looked as if his thoughts had been read, and a few drops of cold sweat ran down his face. "Lord Sig, forgive my impoliteness. I did not intentionally eavesdrop on your conversation with Lord Ainz."

"I didn't tell you to cover your ears. It's normal to hear," Sig said frankly. "I handed that human over to Demiurge, so we've been in contact more recently. I apologize for making you overthink."

"How could Lord Sig apologize? This is clearly my fault."

"Sebas and Demiurge indeed don't get along very well," Shalltear whispered.

"Actually, it has something to do with me too. Touch Me and Ulbert always argued, and as their mutual good friend, I often had to mediate. When I was setting them up, they were in a cold war, so I might have incorporated that emotion into the settings."

Sig continued, "You and Demiurge are the most similar to your creators. You can always see their shadows in you. The poor relationship might also be due to this."

Hearing them talk about the Supreme Beings, everyone became excited, but Sig felt a bit drained from talking too much.

"Ah, Lord Sig, if you're tired, would you like to rest your head on my lap?" Shalltear blinked her dewy red eyes, looking pitifully endearing.

Sig tried his best to maintain his expression. What was going on now? Was Shalltear always this proactive?

"If it's because of what happened before, there's no need to do this. It wasn't a big mistake. I've already forgiven you, Shalltear."

"But I think it's better to have a punishment, otherwise, your subordinate will truly find it hard to feel at ease."

Shalltear's guilt didn't seem feigned, but Sig couldn't get angry just because his subordinate felt his charm wasn't as good as his superior's. That would be making too much of a fuss. (His superior: Ainz)

Finally, he came up with a compromise, "During the next mission, you are not allowed to activate Blood Frenzy. Can you do that?"

"Yes, sir! I will definitely try my best!" Shalltear became full of motivation and embraced Sig's arm, inevitably making contact with a certain soft area.

What was padding it? Why was it so soft? Sig, who hadn't reacted yet, was a little confused.

Sebas truly couldn't stand it anymore and directly confronted her, "Lady Shalltear, you are too rude. If you bother Lord Sig again, I will not stand idly by."

"Huh?" Shalltear's eyes turned red, the whites of her eyes gradually becoming stained with red, almost on the verge of losing control.

Sig said with a faint smile, "Shalltear, you can let go. It seems someone is outside. I've already promised the coachman to Solution. As for the others... you can decide for yourself."

"Yes, I will handle it perfectly. Please rest assured, Lord Sig."

After a brief silence, Shalltear stood up, lifted her skirt, and elegantly opened the carriage door.

"Let's get to work!"

The Vampire Bride, following behind the carriage, revealed herself and, upon receiving the command, charged forward instantly.

A scene of hell unfolded before them, blood mixed with brains flying everywhere.

Sebas frowned, also finding it too bloody. "Should we look away, Lord Sig?"

"How can I be lazy when my subordinates are working hard?"

Seeing the bloody scene again, Sig felt it no longer had such a great impact. His heart also seemed to be gradually turning into that of a monster.
