Chapter 5 - Let's break up

"What do you think you're doing?"

Park Hyunwoo's voice was calm yet commanding. His cold eyes were on Junho while he gripped his hands.

"You bastard—what the hell do you think you're doing holding my hands?! Let go now!" Junho fought to set his hands free from him.

But to no avail.

"Keep your dirty urges to yourself. Don't get others involved in your mess." His eyes were cold—cold enough to assure Yujin that he was getting possessive of him as his boyfriend.

As expected of him.

His pheromones were oozing out, and Yujin had to cover his nose. Possessive alpha pheromones.

"You freak." Junho snatched his hands free from his grip, casting him a cold glare. "Freaking let go of me. What does anything have to do with you?—It's not like you two are dating or something."

"I'll report you to the principal if you keep playing nasty," Hyunwoo threatened, being the teacher's favorite in school.

And Junho frowned. "You're no fun." He turned and pulled up his pants.

"Let's get out of here. Not in the mood anymore." Junho was soon gone with his friends.

Now Seo Yujin and his "boyfriend" were left alone in the bathroom.

"Are you okay?" Hyunwoo brought his hands to Yujin's wrist, checking him all over to make sure he was fine.

"I'm fine..." Seo Yujin twitched at his touch, freeing his hands from him.

He didn't seem comfortable around his "boyfriend" at all.

"You—you should stay away from Junho and his clique. They're bad news. They could harm an omega like—"

"It's not like I threw myself at him." Yujin stared at him. "Is that what you think of me?"

Seo Yujin's voice didn't sound friendly, neither did his eyes that were now on Hyunwoo.

Hyunwoo hesitated. "I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that you should be careful around him..."

"Whatever," Yujin said. "Are you done? I have classes to attend."

In his past life, he was never this rude to Park Hyunwoo. Rather, he was the understanding boyfriend who was always sweet to him.

One who always quietly accepted all his actions and words. One who always went along with whatever he said and smiled in agreement, even though he didn't like it.

That was the pathetic him back then. But this time, he wasn't going through that.

Even though Park Hyunwoo wasn't necessarily a bad guy, he was still the fool Yujin stuck with almost all his life. His childhood sweetheart, whom he ended up falling for.

Probably because they grew up together? Or maybe because he asked him out first?

"I think we're fated mates. A perfect match. We've known each other since like forever," Park Hyunwoo had said back then when he confessed.

And Seo Yujin had agreed, because he felt he was right.

"Are you mad at me...?" Park Hyunwoo asked. His voice was calm and soothing. He was a typical green flag in the eyes of many.

The high school heartthrob who was gentle, studious, and gentlemanly. The type people would love. And Yujin liked him too—until he got tired of it.

"I'm not mad at you. I'm just tired," Seo Yujin adjusted his uniform.

"What do you mean by that...?" Park Hyunwoo stared at him, confused.

"Let's break up," Seo Yujin was direct with his words.

"Huh?" Hyunwoo was shocked. He wasn't sure he heard him right. "What do you mean...?"

"I mean it directly. Let's break up. I don't like you anymore and don't want to date you. As simple as that." They had been dating secretly for over a year now.

Park Hyunwoo hesitated. "What? Why? What happened? Did I do anything wrong...? What happened? Why do you suddenly want to break up?"

Seo Yujin stared at his face. Hyunwoo was panicking like someone losing something vital in his life.

Yujin could tell his expression was genuine. But this time, he had to be selfish if he wanted a happy love life in the future.

His love life revolved around Hyunwoo and Hyunwoo alone. He had dated him from the age of 17 to the age of 30.

Devoted to him and him alone. And while Hyunwoo pursued his dream as an idol, debuting in one of the best boy groups of the 5th Gen, Yujin stayed in the dark, struggling.

Their romance was always secret. They seldom met up for a meal together since he was a celebrity figure. They barely met at all—perhaps 10 times a year or so. Which wasn't much.

Hyunwoo was always busy. And he would always tell Yujin over the phone that he was too busy to meet up.

"I'm a big figure, you know, right? I can't be meeting up with just anyone I want to. I hope you understand," Hyunwoo would always say.

"Yes, I do. Sorry for disturbing you..." Yujin would reply, locked up in his dark room, going through internal conflicts alone.

His failing career in the industry and depressing moments. He only needed someone to be around him, someone like his boyfriend. But instead, he felt like a burden.

He would only turn on his phone, going through clips of Hyunwoo in the media—his interviews and shows. His career was blooming while he was dying in silence.

But he couldn't do anything. He couldn't say anything. He was the understanding boyfriend who always understood the situation.

The one who stayed calm even when Hyunwoo kept having strong dating rumors with different ladies every six months—even some that were almost confirmed.

"You should know and trust me... We've known each other for years now. So why are you, of all people, doubting me?" Park Hyunwoo said the day Yujin brought it up at their dinner together.

"I'm sorry I brought it up. I just... forget it," Yujin brushed it off with a smile and an apology.

They continued like that—Hyunwoo always too busy to even call Yujin, and Yujin dying in silence even while dating him.

It continued until 30, when Hyunwoo confirmed dating a popular actress.

Then Yujin approached him to get an answer.

"Let's break up," Hyunwoo had finally said to him. "I never liked you. Your pheromones always irritated me. And I lied, we were never fated to be. It's absurd for a male like me to be with a male omega..."

And like that, Yujin's 13-year-old depressing love story came to a tragic end.
