Chapter 109: Superman Xi Nian
Ever since Superman's legendary battle a year and a half ago—where he singlehandedly fought against Kryptonian warships and revealed to the world that a living god walked among humans—scientists had gone mad with obsession over his abilities.
Countless researchers worked tirelessly to analyze his powers.
But among the vast body of research, the most discussed subject was not his indestructible body, super strength, speed, flight, x-ray vision, heat vision, or freezing breath. The hottest topic was—his bio-field.
So the question arose: what exactly is a "bio-field"?
Top scientists, using the remains of Kryptonian warships, enemy blood samples, and countless battle recordings, came to a tentative conclusion using the limits of current Earth science:
Krypton, Superman's homeworld, had gravity millions—perhaps tens of millions—of times stronger than Earth. The environment was so extreme that even light itself could not escape its pull.
To survive such a world, Kryptonians were born with the ability to project a special energy field from their very cells. This field bent the space around them, counteracting Krypton's crushing gravity. It kept their bodies and atomic structure intact and could even extend outward to shield other objects.
Of course, maintaining a bio-field consumed enormous amounts of energy.
So Kryptonian physiology evolved further. Their cells adapted to absorb energy with supreme efficiency—especially solar energy.
Thus, this alien race was a miracle of the cosmos. The moment one of them left Krypton and came to a planet rich in sunlight, like Earth, their bio-field transformed them into beings of unfathomable power.
…
Beneath the blazing sun, thousands of meters above Washington, two figures streaked across the sky, tearing through the clouds like fighter jets—except smaller, faster, and more graceful, like falcons outpacing the wind itself.
They were Kara Danvers, the Supergirl, and Xi Nian, who had just inherited the powers of Superman for the first time.
As they flew toward Metropolis, Xi Nian gradually got the hang of flight. He instinctively used his bio-field to cover what little clothing he still had left—his shoes had burst apart the moment he took off. Without it, the supersonic winds would have shredded everything instantly.
Otherwise, instead of Superman Xi Nian, he'd be flying through the skies as something closer to a streaking pervert.
But Xi Nian's control of the bio-field wasn't refined yet. Instead of delicately shielding only his own clothes, it extended toward Kara as well. Rough and intrusive, it brushed against her battle suit, tugging and trying to seep further into her body.
Kara instantly noticed. She reflexively tried to block him with her own bio-field—but to her shock, it didn't work at all. Perhaps because Xi Nian's powers had originated from her, her field instinctively opened to him, welcoming his intrusion instead of resisting it.
Both of them froze midair.
Xi Nian felt as though an invisible third hand of pure sensation was caressing Kara's body, his enhanced senses flooding with a wave of intoxicating softness.
Kara, meanwhile, felt like she had just been touched everywhere at once.
Worse yet, Xi Nian's upper body was completely bare. Still unsteady in flight, he had been holding tightly onto her slim waist with one arm.
Their bodies and bio-fields clung together, tangled in ways neither of them had expected.
Even though Kara was usually bold and confident, at the end of the day she was still just a young girl. Her cheeks flushed crimson as she whispered, "Senior Xi Nian, you're holding too tight. Could you… let go, please?"
"Oh! Sorry!" Xi Nian quickly released her waist and pulled back his invasive bio-field.
Unfortunately, he also withdrew his own protective layer at the same time.
A second later, torn scraps of clothing fluttered down through the clouds.
Xi Nian: "…"
Kara: "…"
…
In Metropolis, inside a heavily fortified research facility, an alien ship sat quietly. Its sleek, otherworldly design alone betrayed its Kryptonian origin.
Scientists could only study its exterior. With Earth's current technology, they had no way of breaching the hull or even bypassing its door locks.
But today, something changed.
Like a child recognizing family, the ship stirred to life. Its hatch opened on its own, interior lights flickering warmly as if welcoming its kin home.
The Kryptonian ship was greeting the return of the daughter of Krypton.
Kara, clad in her Supergirl suit, stepped aboard. Behind her, Xi Nian followed, awkwardly using the red cape to cover himself.
The ship's AI recognized Kara immediately. It also scanned Xi Nian, confused by his presence—yet it detected Kryptonian genetic markers in him as well.
"This is the ship that once carried my cousin to Earth," Kara explained softly. "I also slept here in stasis. There should be plenty of Kryptonian suits inside."
As her words fell, compartments along the corridor opened, releasing a soft glow. From them floated out several sets of men's Kryptonian suits, each with capes and varying designs.
"These are more than just clothes," Kara said, her expression tinged with nostalgia. "They're symbols of our people. Some are for ceremony, some for diplomacy, some for daily wear. My cousin chose the one he liked best and wore it all the time. None of these have been used. Pick whichever you want."
Xi Nian glanced over them. They all looked similar to him—so he simply decided to go with his favorite color.
Before long, he had chosen.
…
The outfit he picked was entirely black—suit, cape, boots.
The moment Xi Nian put it on, the suit adjusted itself to his body, fitting him perfectly. His frame looked as if it were sculpted from black steel, the cape flowing darkly behind him.
"It suits you," Kara murmured, her eyes softening as she watched. She hadn't expected him to choose Krypton's home-wear uniform. It gave her a strangely warm, familial feeling.
"It feels good. Comfortable, too," Xi Nian said, flexing. Even without his bio-field, the strange Kryptonian fabric held firm against his strength.
Just then, Kara stiffened. She stepped forward quickly, entering the deeper part of the ship's cabin, where signs of disturbance lay scattered.
"This… this can't be!" she gasped, her body trembling.
"Kara, what is it?" Xi Nian asked, his black cape stirring as he hurried to her side.
"There's a lingering bio-field here," Kara whispered, eyes wide with disbelief. "This familiar energy… Impossible! My cousin was here—just moments ago!"
