Chapter 34 - Shadow Lynx(2)

"Quit your whining," Luck reprimanded as his undead surrounded the lynx. He glanced at his team.

"So you bought us some time to come up with a plan," Luke stated as he watched the undead get crushed in droves. Fortunately, he could always summon them back as they rushed back in without a shred of fear.

Unfortunately, besides the waste of mana, he couldn"t summon his named creatures back immediately, which was why Asher was still not back, and he had Freya and Dwayne maintain their distance.

"I already have a plan," Luck responded, causing others to focus their attention on him subconsciously.

"First things first, Terra, can you please create two wooden poles. Any length would do."

Terra nodded as she did as he said without question.

"Now, Luke, please light them on fire."

"But wouldn't that just give it more shadows to play with?" Luke voiced out his confusion. Anybody could tell that it had power over the shadows from its earlier display.

Luck smirked, "Just trust me."

Luke shrugged, but he complied nonetheless.

"And Harry..." Luck voiced out with a devilish smile, causing the Pugilist to break into a cold sweat. "You and I are gonna be fighting up close in person."

"Eh?!`Why can't Luke join you? He's your brother after all. He's more deserving of fighting by your side than me."

Luck's smile grew wider upon hearing this. "Sorry, Luke's needed elsewhere. On the bright side, several undead and spirits are fighting along with us."

"Yippeeee," Harry exclaimed with heavy sarcasm.

"Well then, let's-"

Luck abandoned finishing his sentence as his perception rang like crazy, making Luck send out shadowborn tendrils towards a frightened Harry.

*Whoooosh*

Harry narrowly escaped the claws of the lynx, which suddenly manifested behind him as Luck managed to pull him away.

The shadow lynx stared at the young necromancer curiously for a few seconds before it swapped its paw out again. This time, it was swung at the air, leading to the confused expressions that appeared on their faces.

They weren't confused for long, though.

Luck could only watch as his body was quickly restrained by black chains, constructed from his shadow.

The lynx appeared instantly in front of him in an instant, ready to slice Luck to ribbons in a second.

Fortunately, a second was all he needed as he had already given himself a head start.

Four pristine white spikes appeared in front of the pouncing lynx's eye as they widened in shock.

Unfortunately for it, it was too late to dodge, and it unknowingly helped Luck by widening its eyes.

*Puchi**Puchi**Puchi*...

The lynx roared in a mixture of pain and rage as its sight was rendered useless. causing it to begin to thrash about.

"Now!"

Projectiles of different kinds appeared in the sky as the summons, and Terra fired shot after shot, raining hell upon the lynx.

The lynx hissed in annoyance as the arrows bounced off his skin. Even though the power behind them was paltry, it was starting to sting a little as they slammed into the same spots repeatedly.

Even pebbles start to hurt when thrown like this.

The worst part was that its eyes were rendered useless, leaving it at the mercy of its prey.

Luck watched with a cold gaze as the shadow lynx repeatedly trashed about in an attempt to shake off the archers. Sadly, it proved ineffective.

Nevertheless, their attacks were likewise ineffective, and it was just a matter of time before the B-rank beast figured out how to attack.

A notification sounded from Luck's wristwatch, causing him to smirk. (It's time.)

"Come forth, Asher."

*Voom*

The five-foot Skeleton Fighter appeared as he immediately dashed in, already having received his orders from Luck via telepathy.

"Luke, now." Luck muttered softly, but with enough volume for his voice to reach whom it was intended for.

Luck glanced at the shadow lynx as he immediately noticed that it seemed to be getting faster. No, it was getting better at sensing the danger even without sight.

(This could be a problem) Luck thought as he immediately dashed in alongside his undead, quickly surpassing him.

Four Bone Hands rose out of the ground in a bid to restrain the two-meter cat.

It dodged with ease, but Luck managed to close in the distance as several floating spikes appeared behind him, shooting forward to kill.

He refrained from using his shadow-related skills due to his experience, as not only would the shadow lynx sense it, but it would easily be able to use his attack against him.

Even at point-blank range, the lynx managed to dodge the spikes, making Luck swing his staff, managing to hook it onto its neck as he pivoted toward it.

Upon landing, he immediately plunged his dagger at the lynx's nape.

*Clang*

The sound of metal reverberating was heard as the blade rebounded off its neck.

That didn't mind Luck, though, he already knew he couldn"t cut through its skin. He was just the distraction after all.

"Ethereal Slash!"

*Flash**Flash*

*Hisssssssssss*

The lynx hissed in pain as the two attacks passed its bodily defences, damaging its soul.

The lynx staggered as it let out a low growl. Its shadow wriggled violently as several black tendrils rose and shot out everywhere at high speeds.

*Bam**Bam**Bam*...

Several of its attackers were knocked away into the distance, including Luck, Luke, and Asher.

The trio slammed into trees, causing the twins to hack up a mouthful of blood, their internal organs badly damaged.

(Just a little bit more time) Luck thought internally as he watched the lynx slowly walk towards them due to the noise they made from the collision.

The lynx's legs suddenly turned icy-blue as they froze over with immediate effect.

The danger that it hadn't felt during his earlier battle suddenly slammed into its senses, causing the hairs at the back of its neck to stand up.

It was barely able to sense the presence looming over it as it felt a long, rigid,, and pointed object pass through its damaged eye socket, puncturing its brain with ease.

It dropped to the floor soon after, dead.
