Chapter 128 - Nick: I am shocked!

"Those with visas receive this kind of treatment." Luke pulled over a virtual screen that showed a burly man wearing an iron helmet, and the image showed him moving freely in the screen.

"Those without visas are treated this way." Luke pulled up another virtual screen, this time displaying a special effects animation that the White Queen had thoughtfully colored and modeled. It was the same burly man in the iron helmet, but now he was in a more dire situation, being herded by a group of mages and thrown into a rotating portal.

"This behavior is illegal." Luke snapped his fingers and pulled out a virtual screen, which showed a skull riding a motorcycle judging the sins of his captives.

"This behavior is legal." Luke pulled over another virtual screen from the side. On it was still a cartoon image of a skull, but this time the skull was judging a prisoner while handing a purse to some wizards surrounding him.

The four pictures above and below are simple and easy to understand.

"Since you are all trying to regulate each other's behavior, why do you still allow each other to do this kind of thing?" Nick pointed to the picture of the skull judging people.

"Then why do you think these demons cultivate their spokespersons and believers? To allow them to live a stable life on this planet with their own power? Impossible." Luke shook his head.

"The mages don't care?" Nick frowned.

"As long as it's not excessive," Luke replied quickly. "Don't put on some savior or saint vibe. The Sorcerer Supreme only cares about protecting this world from destruction. That's the duty of her lineage of mages. Beyond that, she can choose to intervene or not."

"Okay, okay, but what I'm curious about is, is the money those mages collect money from human society?" Nick asked.

Luke rolled his eyes. "What are you dreaming of? Although mages don't have much money like humans, they don't value such currency. They need something higher, something that can benefit them. Can you imagine some of them sometimes needing to barter? What they need is the power of those demon gods!"

"Then how are they going to collect the money? Those demon gods shouldn't be found, so they should just politely agree to all the conditions and then pay. There are so many believers and spokespersons on our planet, does the Supreme Sorcerer have to go door to door to collect debts?" Nick's intact single eye flashed.

"What are you thinking?" Before Nick could say anything, Luke gave him a strange look that made him feel uncomfortable. "The Sorcerer Supreme has his own effective method for collecting debts. Well, this method has been used on many dimensional demons with great results. It can ignore the will of some dimensional demons and forcibly seize a certain amount of energy for use."

So why go door to door to collect them? Every single one of these believers and spokespeople is counted. The Supreme Sorcerer has a backup of the information about the dimensional demons behind them. When the time comes, all we need to do is publicly notify the demons of the multiverse, and that'll be it. If that doesn't work, having the believers and spokespeople notify them will be enough."

Nick was full of complaints after hearing Luke's words. He felt that the image of the Sorcerer Supreme had become more and more unpredictable in a short period of time as he communicated more and more with Luke.

It sounds so subtle and nice, but in fact, isn't this just forced buying and selling, and taking advantage of others for free?

It sounds like they have been fleecing the wool for a long time!

It's just that after talking with Luke recently, I finally remembered to give my forced fleecing behavior a rational cover.

What did the Supreme Sorcerer actually pay?

Everything remained the same, but nominally, the other party had stood up! Perhaps, even more sinisterly, the Supreme Mage would be even more ruthless in the future? After all, all he wanted was visa fees, entry fees, accommodation fees, combat fees, and so on. It all depended on the mage's initial pricing. With so many dimensional demons, it was a shame to get more out of each one...

Of course, Nick knew his assumption was only a relatively optimistic one. Those demons were at least powerful. If they were truly enraged or had offended a significant number of them, they could rally and attack with force. Even the most powerful Sorcerer Supreme would at least have to flee, right? While such an extreme scenario was unlikely, it was still tempting Nick to think in that direction.

"Is there any explanation for this?" Nick always felt that there might be some information that he didn't know.

"An explanation? Well, perhaps it's to prevent the Sorcerer Supreme from accusing him of borrowing power and then not returning it later when negotiating a deal with a demon from a certain dimension." Luke thought for a moment. "After all, while the Sorcerer Supreme doesn't care about face, having an explanation would at least make the unfortunate demon feel better and gain some psychological comfort. Besides, with this explanation, the other party would also need to give an explanation to the followers who are actively causing trouble in the Sorcerer Supreme's territory, and to the Sorcerer Supreme."

"Then what can SHIELD do?" Nick said, "I don't understand, but I'm shocked," and then asked the question he had always wanted to ask.

"Of course, do what you are best at." Luke looked at Nick strangely again, as if he was surprised that he could ask such a low-level question.

"Wash the ground! Cover up! Confuse the public!" Luke naturally took over, outlining what S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to do. "Finally, as a bonus, the identity information of the dimensional demon spokespersons and followers on the Master's side may need to be communicated with S.H.I.E.L.D. We may need a liaison agency to communicate with those spokespersons in real time.

You can't just collect the money over there, and then an accident happens on your side, and you treat them as prisoners. That's not good."

"SHIELD is an intelligence and military organization!" Nick took a deep breath. He had already imagined himself as the magic belt that was still diligently playing the whack-a-mole game. Although his cooperation with Luke was very tacit and pleasant, now, look at what the other party said.

"So?" Luke asked in confusion.

"We can also add a title of service organization." Nick smiled.

"Don't worry, our cooperation has been a pleasure. I know what your needs are." Luke also understood that without real money benefits and big enough interests, Nick might have some "unpleasant" things happen.

"I hope so," Nick nodded. If he could gain access to those mages, he believed there would always be a chance to learn their secrets or strike deals with them. With so much trouble lurking within S.H.I.E.L.D., they truly needed a mage advisor to offer advice and assistance from a different perspective.

"Think about it, if everything goes well, then at least the beast series equipment provided to S.H.I.E.L.D. can't be considered a black account."
