Chapter 26 - EPISODE 25

Whispers of Betrayal

The words hit her like ice: They want you.

Her lips parted, but no sound came out. Why would dangerous men tied to the Mafia be after her—a simple nanny?

The boss moved closer, his wounded arm barely slowing him down. "I don't believe in coincidences. Someone inside this house gave them information. And someone told them about you."

Her knees felt weak. "But… I'm no one. I've never even—"

"Don't," he cut her off sharply, his voice low but protective. "Don't ever call yourself 'no one.'" His eyes softened for the briefest moment before the hardness returned. "If they're after you, then you're more important than you think."

Before she could reply, one of his most trusted guards entered, bowing slightly. "Boss… we found something."

He tossed a folded piece of paper onto the table. The boss opened it, his jaw clenching as he read.

The nanny stepped closer, curiosity gnawing at her despite the fear. On the paper, scrawled in hurried ink, were chilling words:

"She belongs to us. Return what isn't yours, or more blood will spill."

Her heart stopped. She belongs to us?

The boss crushed the note in his fist, his eyes blazing with fury. "Someone inside this house is feeding them lies. Until I find out who… no one leaves. No one."

The nanny held his daughter tighter, but a shadow crept into her chest. For the first time, she wondered if her past—one she thought she'd left behind—was finally catching up to her.
