Episode 27 – The Life She Tried to Bury
The nanny sat on the edge of the bed, her hands trembling in her lap. The boss stood a few steps away, his dark eyes locked on her, waiting.
"You want the truth?" she whispered. "Then you'll have to see me for what I really am—not who you thought I was."
He crossed his arms, his silence urging her on.
"I wasn't always… this. A nanny. A nobody." She swallowed hard, her voice quivering. "I was born into a family that lived by the same rules you do—blood, power, violence. My father was one of them. A man people feared."
The boss's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't interrupt.
"When I was seventeen, there was a war between his men and another syndicate. I saw things… things I'll never forget. And when he was killed, they came after me, too. I ran. I changed my name. I hid. I thought I could live quietly, far from that world."
Her voice cracked as tears welled in her eyes. "But you can't run forever, can you? That message proves it. They've found me. And now they'll never stop."
The boss took a slow step forward, his expression unreadable. "So you're telling me… all this time, I brought a mafia princess into my home without knowing it?"
She flinched at the word, but she didn't deny it.
He let out a low, humorless chuckle. "No wonder they want you back. You're more than a target—you're leverage."
She looked at him desperately. "And that's why I have to go. If I stay here, they'll destroy you… and her." She glanced at his daughter, sleeping peacefully in her bed, unaware of the storm gathering outside.
But before she could say more, his hand shot out, gripping her wrist firmly but not cruelly. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper.
"You think I'll just let you walk away? After everything? No." His gaze burned into hers. "If they want you, they'll have to go through me."
Her heart pounded—because for the first time in years, someone wasn't trying to abandon her. He was claiming her.
