Natasha's words immediately made everyone catch their breath—it was indeed very possible.
Because Lin Feng's universe could observe theirs, meaning everything that happened in their world could be adapted into stories in another universe.
For example, TV series, Hollywood movies, and so on.
"So, what Lin Feng said actually makes sense, right?" Barton (Hawkeye) said. "Like Season 1, Season 2, Season 3… or Captain America 3, Avengers 2.5… could it really be that some of these shows and movies are based on us?"
Hearing this, many of them were stunned—especially since the logic was so coherent. Lin Feng had mentioned protagonists and supporting characters multiple times before.
"So there are shows or movies specifically about Iron Man? And the guy who plays me is Robert Downey Jr.?" Tony Stark looked a bit speechless. "So I'm not the most popular? Spider-Man is the fan favorite? Marvel's golden child… that's what it means?"
In an instant, Tony felt his perspective expand. Many questions that had baffled him suddenly made sense—the people of that universe had brought their stories to the big screen, and even ordinary people like Lin Feng could watch.
But he still couldn't get over one thing: why wasn't his story number one? Was it because he wasn't handsome enough? Or not charismatic enough? Or because the time he carried Rocket wasn't epic enough?
Why wasn't he first? Why was Spider-Man the fan favorite?
He was so frustrated.
"The key is, they didn't pay royalties…" Barton said coldly. "A civilized society shouldn't even skip royalties. A civilized society shouldn't freeload—you'd at least expect a subscription or something."
Everyone laughed at this, but no matter what, the fact that their stories were on screen proved their popularity—maybe many people in Lin Feng's universe really liked them.
"But no matter how they adapt our stories, or spy on our privacy, that's not the point," Nick Fury snapped everyone back to focus.
To him, it was the same as putting stories of ancient humans on the big screen.
Knowing this wouldn't help them solve the issue of the future civil war.
He wanted to figure out why the Avengers would split, why such huge problems would arise.
[Steve and Bucky really are true love. For Bucky, he could completely break with the Avengers. But just the scale of this recruitment battle—can we even call it Avengers 2.5?]
Everyone's expression changed slightly, even Thor in Asgard, because he too was an Avenger and would become one of the top fighters. Seeing the Avengers splitting was painful.
King Odin, however, was calm. To him, this was inevitable. The Avengers supposedly had three leaders—including his "silly son"—but actually, based on videos and diaries, the real leaders were just two: Steve Rogers (Cap) and Tony Stark.
His son was only a top fighter, not really influential within the team.
One represented the "funding daddy," the other represented teamwork.
One material, one spiritual. Both were indispensable. But neither could unify the other.
Fury, originally expected to mediate, was powerless—he had no combat ability.
In a combat-oriented organization, lacking fighting power meant you had nothing.
Fury's glue-effect had mostly disappeared after the Avengers formed—he couldn't control either of the two leaders.
And if one person had two heads, conflicts were inevitable—fights to the death were bound to happen.
It wasn't surprising. Even he fought Hela to the death for leadership issues, and she ended up sealed in the Underworld.
Even father-daughter bonds couldn't prevent conflicts over authority.
Especially since their ideals and beliefs were so different.
So this was bound to happen. They would reunite to defeat Thanos, but only because Thanos was so powerful that he forced the two opposite ideologies together.
An organization can only have one leader, one ideology.
Two leaders inevitably lead to division.
Odin didn't reveal all this—he wanted to see when his son would understand this. For a king, this was fundamental, beyond mercy, love, or justice.
Power was just the basic prerequisite—there was more to learn.
A video appeared before everyone.
The opening shot showed a dilapidated factory. Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson (Falcon) quickly ran to a restrained Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier).
To prevent him from suddenly lashing out, they pinned down his entire arm.
"Steve?" Bucky struggled, seeing Rogers.
Outside the frame, Steve's expression was a mix of surprise and joy—his dear friend Bucky Barnes was alive!
And he looked young, about the same age—just as Tony had said, Bucky must have been altered by Hydra to survive this long.
"Which Bucky am I talking to?" Steve asked.
"Your mom's name is Sarah… you used to stuff newspapers in your shoes…"
Hearing this, Bucky smiled wistfully.
"Does the museum ever mention this?" Steve confirmed—this was indeed his friend, the normal Bucky Barnes he knew.
"Is that it? Are we okay now?" Sam said, a bit speechless.
"What did I do?" Bucky asked.
"Enough," Steve replied.
"Oh man, I knew this would happen," Bucky sighed. "Hydra's programming is still in me—they just need a few words."
Outside the frame, Steve was emotional—he had guessed right. His friend had been brainwashed by Hydra; he wasn't truly a villain.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Feng's diary had said Steve had broken with the Avengers for Bucky.
If Bucky had been irredeemable, it would have been difficult—they couldn't kill him without guilt, couldn't leave him alive without opposing Steve.
But since Bucky was brainwashed, the problem was simpler—they could help gather evidence without moral conflict.
"So the Avengers Civil War was caused by… a misunderstanding?" Barton couldn't help but comment. "And what a huge misunderstanding—it's like you both have mouths, but they don't work at all."
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers exchanged helpless glances—they didn't know how to explain it.
Because they hadn't experienced it yet. But if it were really this simple, just talking it out could solve it.
"Who is he?" Steve asked on the video.
"I don't know…" Bucky shook his head.
"The explosion that framed you killed many," Steve continued. "The doctor worked hard just to spend ten minutes with you. You can't just say, 'I don't know.'"
"He wants to know about Siberia," Bucky thought, then said. "Where I was held. He wants the exact location."
"Why?" Steve asked, eyes widening, immediately taking note.
So Bucky was held in Siberia. With this clue, finding him would still be difficult, but far better than searching blindly.
"Hydra has a base in Siberia? They really are something," Natasha said. "They infiltrate us and Russia—two post-war superpowers. Cut one head, two grow back. Now I understand why Lin Feng feared them—not because they're strong, but because they're such a hassle."
Everyone nodded.
Especially Fury—this was why he investigated rather than confronting directly. Cut the grass, and it grows back.
"Because I'm not the only Winter Soldier."
At this moment, Bucky revealed something even more shocking.
