Lin Feng was wealthy to an unimaginable degree. Money for him was no longer tangible—it was just a string of numbers. Need a sum? He just had to ask, and it would be delivered.
Even he found himself marveling inwardly. No wonder Tony Stark could casually buy an entire building just to teach the Hulk a lesson.
"Not bad, but nothing beats my own arm," Professor Connors said. "All thanks to Mr. Lin's funding for my research, I can continue my work."
Connors was deeply grateful. His research focused on limb regeneration, specifically to restore his own right arm. Previously, funding was scarce. Even Columbia University refused to continue financing his work, as the project seemed unprofitable and commercially unfeasible in the U.S.
Lin Feng's sponsorship changed all that. Although it came with some conditions for additional research, it allowed Connors the financial freedom to continue his experiments safely.
"Your research direction is promising," Lin Feng warned, "but don't experiment on yourself without full certainty. I don't want to see you on the news as some lizard monster."
Indeed, the man before him was none other than the infamous Lizard — Dr. Curt Connors from the Spider-Man series. At present, he hadn't fully transformed and remained mostly rational.
"I'll be careful," Connors promised.
In the original timeline, Connors had rushed into self-experimentation because Oscorp's funding was about to collapse. Now, with Lin Feng's financial support and a high-tech prosthetic arm, he had the resources and time to proceed cautiously.
After leaving Connors with the specially prepared experimental pills, Lin Feng shared a lunch with Gwen at Columbia before leaving the campus.
With his company growing rapidly, Lin Feng had more responsibilities than ever. Even Sharon Carter and Natasha Romanoff had resigned, requiring him to hire professional managers to handle the increasing workload.
The two had been recalled by Nick Fury two months prior, unable to continue long-term undercover work. Lin Feng did not interfere—they had essentially exhausted their roles in his company.
Returning to his office, Lin Feng spent an hour clearing accumulated tasks, after which he finally had free time. Thanks to the super-soldier serum and enhancements to his cognitive templates, Lin Feng functioned as a "super scholar," with near-perfect memory and extreme efficiency. Combined with professional managers, he had ample free time daily.
Suddenly, a news broadcast on the office TV caught his attention:
The United Nations headquarters had suffered a terrorist attack. Diplomats were targeted, though no casualties occurred.
"Brave, indeed," Lin Feng muttered.
Though based in New York, the UN's authority was backed by the five permanent Security Council members. To challenge the UN was to challenge these global powers.
Yet in the broadcast footage, a familiar figure immediately drew his attention:
Winter Soldier Barnes — recognizable by his combat suit and metallic left arm.
So the Winter Soldier was involved, still under Hydra's control. What was Hydra planning? Was this some reckless stunt?
Lin Feng frowned. A notorious organization like Hydra should remain low-profile. They didn't yet have the capacity to dominate the world, nor should they attract global attention so recklessly.
He scoffed at the notion of Hydra attempting global domination. A few spacefaring warships? Challenging the five permanent members? Too naïve. A single hypersonic missile or a nuke could wipe them out. Compared to WWII-era Hydra, this was laughably weak.
Still, given how comic writers operate, such illogical plotlines could be "explained" by reboots, parallel universes, or retroactive fixes.
Lin Feng was used to such chaos; after all, his own journey here had begun because he had ridiculed the Marvel "Shang-Chi" 2 storyline.
He wasn't sure if Hydra had activated Winter Soldier before Captain America: Civil War, as movies often leave details ambiguous. But in his reality, superheroes and villains still existed outside of film plots, living among ordinary people.
For instance, his neighbor — Steve Rogers, Captain America.
Pulling out his notebook, Lin Feng began recording:
"Even Winter Soldier is showing up… is the Civil War timeline accelerating? Not yet, right? This shouldn't happen for several years. Is the timeline truly going haywire? Hydra seems to be preparing for a large operation… Bucky's been activated. Hope Cap doesn't notice; he'd be excited for days. After all, it's well known Captain America's true love is the Winter Soldier. (Manual dog head)"

At Tony Stark's mansion, Tony wore casual attire, listening helplessly to Pepper Potts' scolding over the phone.
"Tony, if you keep dumping all these trivial tasks on me, just wait and see!"
He held the phone at arm's length, silently acknowledging her frustration. Since Stark Industries had shifted to new energy ventures, the company's operations had expanded significantly, increasing Pepper's workload exponentially.
Previously, Stark Industries focused on defense contracts — simple affairs, influenced by politics, high-level networking, and golf games.
Now, in the high-pressure commercial world, all responsibilities and threats cascaded onto Pepper. Unlike Lin Feng, Stark's family had longstanding influence, meaning direct threats were rare. But Lin Feng, as a rising magnate with no entrenched network, faced dangers openly—and retaliated without hesitation.
What capitalist bulldozers? Lin Feng was said to embody the "Red Iron Fist," capable of dealing decisive blows personally.
Tony Stark admired this, albeit secretly. He had no time to deal with such pressures, dedicating his energy to preparing for the eventual Chitauri invasion. Consequently, Pepper endured the daily barrage.
