Chapter 130 - Targeted by Two All-Fathers? My Scalp Is Going Numb!

Using the combat power of ordinary humans to compare with the Avengers was, without question, completely unfair.

If you compared them to a regular army instead, you could immediately see how powerful Hydra's forces were.

At present, Earth's human weaponry still relied on gunpowder-based kinetic arms. As for energy weapons—those were still a distant dream.

Only Tony Stark had managed to make progress in that field. But even then, his technology came with massive production costs. Meanwhile, Hydra's energy weapons were clearly mass-produced already.

In fact, in this area, Hydra's technological level might even surpass Tony Stark's.

Not to mention, they possessed energy shields—something Stark didn't have, not even the Chitauri did. At least, in all the battles they had witnessed so far, nothing like that had appeared. Yet here it was, in Hydra's hands.

Hydra's technological reserves were truly terrifying. It was only when they faced the Avengers that they looked so weak—cut down like vegetables. Against a normal army, they would be an unstoppable force.

Captain America, Steve Rogers, was especially familiar with these energy weapons. By the later stages of the war, Hydra's energy rifles had practically become standard issue, and many members of his Howling Commandos had been wounded by them.

Even a brief battle clip was enough to make everyone stop underestimating Hydra's strength.

On the screen, Tony Stark—whose attack had just been thwarted—couldn't help but curse, "Damn it!"

"Watch your language!" Captain Rogers immediately reminded him, then continued, "Jarvis, what did you find from above?"

The image shifted to space. A massive satellite was monitoring everything below. A moment later, it spoke up:

"The central structure is protected by some kind of energy barrier. Strucker's technology is more advanced than any other Hydra base we've encountered."

Strucker!

Everyone immediately memorized that name. Clearly, this was yet another Hydra leader.

But that also revealed something else—Hydra had multiple such bases, each highly advanced. This one merely happened to be the most sophisticated.

In other words, while S.H.I.E.L.D. had built tremendous strength over the past seventy years, Hydra had also quietly rebuilt itself to an astonishing degree.

If every base was this strong, then Hydra's true power was far beyond imagination.

From the look of it, this was likely the point in the future when S.H.I.E.L.D. discovered traces of Hydra's activity and launched a full-scale purge.

Jarvis's quick identification that Strucker's base used more advanced tech than others suggested that they had already destroyed several Hydra facilities before this.

Before anyone could dwell on that thought, Thor spoke up mid-battle with an important revelation:

"Loki's scepter must be here! Without it, Strucker couldn't possibly have achieved this. Impressive, isn't it?"

He shouted while fighting.

Everyone watching was immediately puzzled. Loki's scepter? Wasn't that the Chitauri's weapon?

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team paused the footage, analyzing the situation.

"So you're telling me the Mind Scepter has nothing to do with the Chitauri? That can't be right! I used that scepter to cut through the outer shield of the device!" Natasha Romanoff frowned. "How did it suddenly become Loki's weapon?"

"There's only one explanation," Bruce Banner said after a moment's thought. "Before the New York invasion, Loki must've come to Earth first. Maybe we defeated him, and his scepter fell into our hands. Later, we used it to destroy the Chitauri's portal generator. But after that, Hydra likely stole the scepter. We found Hydra through it, which led to this battle."

Everyone thought it over—Banner's reasoning sounded the most plausible.

Otherwise, how could Loki's scepter have ended up in Hydra's possession?

And Loki… he was definitely ambitious enough. In the timeline where Thor was killed, Loki had seized that opportunity to descend upon Earth. His hunger for power was every bit like the trickster god of myth.

"In other words, we're probably going to face another war," Captain Rogers said gravely.

But he wasn't afraid. As a super-soldier, he was born for battle.

Tony Stark frowned. "If that's the case—Loki trying to invade Earth while Thor sides with us—what does that tell you? It means Asgard's having a civil war. Wonderful. We humans can't even keep our own hundred-plus countries united, and now we're dragged into a god-level family feud."

Everyone was speechless. Stark wasn't wrong, but none of them had a choice. They were always the invaded side.

Meanwhile, in Asgard's royal palace—

"Father, look!" Thor exclaimed excitedly. "That's Loki's scepter! That means he came to Earth later—he's not dead yet!"

Although Lin Feng's diary had hinted at this, actually seeing traces of Loki's weapon stirred the deeply brother-loving Thor.

"Don't celebrate too soon," Odin said flatly, glancing at his son. "It's also possible Loki is now in Thanos's hands… The scepter appearing on Earth could mean he cooperated with Thanos—and the Chitauri—to invade it."

Odin's alternate theory made Thor freeze. He hadn't considered that possibility at all.

Odin sighed inwardly. His foolish son still didn't grasp the gravity of the situation.

If that was true, then Thanos wasn't just targeting Earth—he might also have his eyes on Asgard.

Which meant… as long as Odin remained, Asgard would be safe. But in the future, once he was gone, the realm would be exposed to not one, but two All-Fathers watching it—each powerful enough to destroy worlds.

No wonder Lin Feng's diary had later mentioned that his "idiot son" was forced to crown himself king in a fishing village on Earth.

Without Odin there, even a single All-Father targeting Asgard would spell doom—let alone two. Just thinking about it made Odin's scalp tingle.

Perhaps… it was time to prepare ahead.

If he already knew the future fate of Asgard, why wait for it to happen? Odin had never been one to simply accept destiny. In his youth, he had been an ambitious conqueror of the cosmos—only withdrawing after harsh lessons.

If Asgard was destined to fall, then he must act before that day came.

After all, Asgard was its people, not the land itself.

Relocating its population, resources, and wealth in advance would be the wise choice. But where could they go?

Earth seemed… like a good option.

Among the Nine Realms connected by Yggdrasil, only Earth was capable of accommodating Asgard's survivors.

Though Earth was full of hidden dangers, as long as Asgard didn't display any ambition to dominate, they should be safe.

And deep down, Odin was genuinely curious—what kind of mysterious force did this small planet possess to attract so many cosmic powers' attention?

Perhaps Earth's secrets ran deeper than even Asgard knew.

——

"No matter what's going on here, we need to be ready," Nick Fury said grimly. "The Chitauri invasion happens in 2012. It's 2009 now—meaning we have at most three years. Loki's arrival could even come sooner—maybe next year."

He rubbed his forehead, looking weary. "There's just too much happening lately. It's getting hard to keep up."

Noticing Captain Rogers's anxious expression, Fury added, "I know you're eager, Captain. But we can't rush this. If Hydra's grown this powerful—with multiple advanced bases—we can't afford to act rashly."

Natasha nodded in agreement. "He's right. We've finally gotten real intel on Hydra. If we alert them, they'll burrow even deeper. Without Lin Feng's diary, it would've taken us years to find out any of this. We need to learn how many people they have, how many bases, and who their political allies are before striking."

Steve Rogers thought for a moment, then nodded. He knew she was right.

As much as he longed to finish what he started seventy years ago—to wipe Hydra off the map for good—this was not the time for impatience.

This time, he swore, they wouldn't escape again.

"I'm just a soldier," Rogers said quietly. "When the time comes, call me. Charging into battle—that's my duty."

He wasn't one for politics or schemes. Others could handle that. His job was to fight.
