Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Altered History

Chapter 6: Altered History

"My name is Hoshikawa. I don't have too many hobbies. As for my dream, I hope to become a ninja like the Hokage-sama."

Hoshikawa's real dream was to survive, but that sounded too out of place.

So, he stated a dream common to all Ninja Academy students: to become Hokage.

This was no different from wanting to become a scientist in his previous life.

And he even played a little trick: he didn't say "become Hokage" but "become a ninja like Hokage-sama."

He was currently being targeted by Danzo Shimura, so he could only temporarily rely on Hiruzen Sarutobi. This was a wise move, emphasizing his loyalty.

"The ninja who will eventually become Hokage is definitely me, Obito Uchiha!"

Obito Uchiha shot up from his seat, declaring proudly.

Rin Nohara subconsciously tugged at his sleeve but failed to stop him.

"Childish."

Kakashi Hatake said expressionlessly.

He wasn't some three-year-old child; he was already a five-year-old big kid!

Even if he wanted to become Hokage, he wouldn't argue with words but with actions.

Hoshikawa looked at Obito Uchiha and suddenly remembered a dark joke.

Couldn't become Hokage, so he became the Hokage.

"What's so great about being Hokage?"

Sarutobi Asuma slowly stood up and said gravely, "I want to surpass the Hokage!"

The classroom immediately fell silent.

Everyone knew he was the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi's, son.

Hoshikawa's expression was somewhat subtle.

As someone familiar with the plot, he knew perfectly well how unrealistic Sarutobi Asuma's statement was.

His talent was quite limited; among Jonin, he wasn't particularly outstanding, let alone capable of surpassing Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"It's good to have dreams, but to achieve them, you need to study hard."

Eiichirō clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention, and said, "Hoshikawa, that seat in the back row by the window is reserved for you."

Classroom seating was three students per desk. Hoshikawa was a transfer student, two months late, so he could only sit in the very back row.

But he didn't mind much; the back row by the window was a good spot.

His deskmate was a short-haired girl. Meeting her gaze, Hoshikawa said, "Hello, I'm Hoshikawa."

As a spy, there were often two paths.

Either become insignificant, or become a social butterfly.

But his cheat and appearance wouldn't allow him to be insignificant.

It was a pity he wasn't from the Aburame clan; otherwise, he'd have a built-in chakra concealment effect.

"I'm Shizune, nice to meet you."

Shizune smiled.

Hoshikawa was immediately surprised.

It was Shizune? Was she still in the Ninja Academy at this time?

In the original story, Tsunade developed hemophobia, a psychological fear of blood, after the deaths of Nawaki and Dan Katō.

For a medical ninja, developing hemophobia was a devastating blow.

Tsunade then left Konoha Village with Shizune to wander and gamble across the ninja world.

Hoshikawa stroked his chin.

Was Tsunade still in Konoha Village?

Hoshikawa looked left and right.

His front row consisted of Kakashi Hatake, Rin Nohara, and Obito Uchiha.

To his front left were Kurenai Yūhi, Sarutobi Asuma, and an unfamiliar boy.

"Today's class is Konoha History. Please turn to page thirteen of your books."

Eiichirō's voice brought Hoshikawa's thoughts back.

He casually opened the book, his gaze lingering on the table of contents for a few seconds.

The table of contents had four main chapters: Sage of Six Paths, Hashirama Senju, Tobirama Senju, and Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Hoshikawa turned to the first chapter, and a sense of incongruity washed over him.

Something was wrong, extremely wrong.

It said that the Sage of Six Paths created various ninjutsu and also established the rules for ninja squads.

Among them was the rule that there should be at least one medical ninja in a three-person squad.

Wasn't that proposed by Tsunade?

Had history been altered? Or was something else wrong?

"The First Hokage established Konoha Village in a chaotic era and wrote down the ninja code, stating that one must not drink or gamble during missions..."

Eiichirō lectured incessantly from the podium.

Hoshikawa snapped back to reality, thinking, This must be unofficial history, right?

Although not as wild as fanfiction, Hashirama Senju was clearly proficient in both drinking and gambling.

He flipped to the end and found that the book was written by Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Alright, no problem then. This was professionalism.

He could already predict what the fourth main chapter would contain.

The bell rang for the end of class.

Eiichirō left with his textbook, and the classroom immediately became lively.

"Kurenai..."

Sarutobi Asuma had just opened his mouth when he saw Kurenai Yūhi jump off her stool and run to Hoshikawa.

He instinctively clenched his fists. If this continued, he would lose everything, even his dignity!

"Hoshikawa, are you getting used to it?"

Kurenai Yūhi greeted Shizune, then looked at Hoshikawa.

"Mm."

Hoshikawa nodded.

As a university student studying elementary school content, it felt just like being home.

In his previous life, he had joined an online tutoring platform and absolutely crushed elementary students.

"Here, for you."

Kurenai Yūhi took out a notebook and said, "These are the key points I've noted down over the past two months. It should help you."

"Thank you."

Hoshikawa said earnestly.

"Well, I won't bother you then. See you at lunch."

Kurenai Yūhi waved her small hand and turned to leave.

"You two know each other?"

Shizune seemed to have discovered something and couldn't help but ask curiously.

"Kurenai's father is my teacher."

Hoshikawa explained.

"A Jonin sensei?"

Shizune's eyes widened.

Normal students had to wait until after graduation to be assigned a team leader.

Hoshikawa's situation clearly went beyond her comprehension.

"Do you know Lady Tsunade?"

Hoshikawa asked, his mind stirred by her surprised expression.

Shizune shook her head.

Hoshikawa again felt a sense of incongruity.

He suddenly realized a problem.

In the original story, Tsunade and Dan Katō became acquainted during a Jonin meeting discussing the inclusion of medical ninja in ninja squads.

But now, the Sage of Six Paths had completed this task beforehand.

It seemed that an unknown change had occurred in this world.

Could it be the butterfly effect from his transmigration?

Hoshikawa couldn't figure it out, so he stopped thinking about it.

Time quickly came to noon, and students either went home or searched for a place to eat.

Hoshikawa closed his textbook and saw Kurenai Yūhi standing prettily in front of him.

Her ruby-like eyes gleamed in the sunlight, truly beautiful.

Not far away, Sarutobi Asuma's eyes were filled with resentment.

"You two eat."

Shizune got up to find Rin Nohara.

Kurenai Yūhi then smoothly sat in Shizune's seat.

"Are you and Asuma close?"

Hoshikawa asked while opening his bento box.

"Not really close, just deskmates."

Kurenai Yūhi said with a bit of annoyance, "But he's always bothering me."

"Is that so?"

Hoshikawa picked up his chopsticks and took a piece of fried shrimp.

As a 'pure love warrior,' he would never be a cuckolder (emphatically).

But since there was no relationship between them, he had no psychological burden.

There will be a reasonable explanation for the Sage of Six Paths later; it's not a bug or a parallel world or anything like that.
