Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Purpose

I move my queen to f7 and place it marking my victory.

"Checkmate"

I say silently leaning back to my throne

Ryuto, my friend, assistant and the King of Spirits slams his fists on the desk and mutters swears under his breath.

I hear the screams of the Lethegos for the cellar.

Let them suffer for some time more before I tell them my purpose. I close my eyes and rest my head on the headrest.

Ryuto twirling the bottle of Flaschengetränk

" Why are you so bitter to them?"

I open my left eye and look him.

" You call me bitter and then you gulp down ten bottles of Flaschengetränk(which is wine with a bitter taste) like it's an elixir or some potion that will grant you immortality".

I raise my head and stare at the ceiling of my Blood Castle. It's truly beautiful. I won't bother describing it to you .

The Blood Castle has its own free will. So the next time you visit it(if you ever find it accidently while traversing between dimensions) it probably won't be like it is now.

As i stare at it I whisper

"I think it's time"

I glance at Ryuto who's halfway through his 15th bottle of Flaschengetränk and say,

"Let's check in on our prisoners"

We walk down the stairs to the cellar which is now occupied by the Lethegos. The Hounds have made quite a meal out of them it seems.

As per my commands the Leader has been left unharmed.

I walk towards his cell.

As soon as he sees me he falls to the ground and starts whimpering. The chains rattle as he begs me to release him and the other Lethegos.

" Let us go . We will never even dare to look at your sister from now on"

I smirk

" That's good. But I have some other plans with you."

He stares at me , eyes wide in confusion. He's gone silent. No more crying and screaming. He just stands there with his jaw dropped

I continue

" While you guys were having fun some ...let's say pretty rough things have been going on downstairs–in the Hell."

He rises up and walks closer to his cell to listen more carefully. He has developed a sense of respect for me. Out of fear

That's good, I think. This way he will think twice before betraying me.

" An war is brewing up between two factions for the position of the Devil King. It's inevitable. And even if I could I wouldn't stop it."

The Leader musters up enough courage to ask," Why?"

" Because I'm a part of it myself. It benefits me. One of the two factions is my own THE BLOOD PACT. "

" And the other one?"

" It's my childhood friend's faction. THE SLAVES OF TIME"

He nods his head. And asks meekly," What do you want me to do?"

" Even the most trivial things can make a huge impact if ignored. I knew that the opposite faction would of course ask you for joining their side. So I decided to be the early bird which gets the worms."

I take a puase and glance at the Leader to see if he's understanding it. He isn't.

There was only an extent to which these lowly beasts could comprehend things. A vampire would never understand metaphors— except if he belonged to the Haven cult. Those guys are pretty smart. Eliz herself belongs to that cult( she's actually it's Queen).

" I mean to say that I decided to be the first one to ask you to join my faction."

He nods his head in understanding

I draw out my serious tone to show the gravity of the situation," Now you have two options. Either the Lethegos join THE BLOOD PACT or I wipe out the entire cult. As simple as that. "

I turn around and make my way to the stairs.

Before I ascend I tell him," I hope you have learned your lesson about what happens to those who underestimate me."

Without any hesitation he replies," We'll join you ."

I flash him a smile .

" You are a smart rascal".
