Chapter 39 – Just Kill Them
"Isn't that... Danzo-sama?" Yusuke narrowed his eyes, instantly recognizing the old face. Just the sight of him was enough to tell who was pulling the strings behind all this.
"Hmph. You dared to hurt civilians," Danzo spoke in a cold, stern voice.
"Oh? Didn't you see? They deserved it," Yusuke replied casually, but there was a sharpness behind his words.
"No matter your reason, you'll come with me to face punishment," Danzo declared, intent on dragging him away without discussion.
"Hahaha… That is, if you think you can, Danzo-sama," Yusuke laughed mockingly.
In terms of power, Danzo was Kage-level—early stage at best, perhaps slightly beyond. But even then, he was no stronger than Hozuki Murakami from Kirigakure. And in the future, despite all his preparations and his use of Izanagi, Danzo still failed to kill Sasuke. He squandered the power in his hands.
"Young brat... are you planning to betray Konoha?" Danzo narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"Ora ora~ You want to arrest me, but I'm not allowed to fight back? Then fine... I might as well see whether you and your ROOT dogs are truly worthy of being called the guardians of Konoha's foundation," Yusuke said lazily, though his tone held a clear warning.
"Attack! Dead or alive, I don't care!" Danzo barked the order. He knew one thing for sure—Hatake Yusuke couldn't be controlled. And that made him a threat that needed to be erased.
But just as the ROOT agents began to move—
"Danzo! Stand down immediately!"
Tsunade's voice rang out as she suddenly appeared, unable to stand by and watch the situation unfold into violence.
"This doesn't concern you, Tsunade. Hatake Yusuke assaulted civilians. I'm simply doing my duty for the sake of Konoha. There's nothing more to discuss," Danzo replied flatly.
"This matter will be handled by the Hokage directly. You'd better deal with your own dogs at ROOT," Tsunade shot back, her tone laced with contempt. As she spoke, chakra surged from her body, a clear sign that she was ready to fight.
Danzo's gaze hardened at her stance.
But then—
"I'd like to see who dares to lay a hand on my son."
A deep, commanding voice cut through the air. A figure stepped forward.
"—Father…"
"—Dad…"
Kakashi and Yusuke spoke nearly at the same time, both stunned. Standing before them was none other than the White Fang, Hatake Sakumo—no longer burdened, no longer broken. There was something different about him. Something stronger. Yusuke could feel it clearly—the sword intent radiating from his father was more intense than ever. The White Fang had returned, stronger than before.
"White Fang…" Danzo narrowed his eyes. A Hatake Sakumo unshackled from the so-called Will of Fire was a terrifying sight. He could easily rival Hiruzen, his former teammate and the Third Hokage.
Inside their home, Sakumo had listened to everything. He had seen what his son went through and how the villagers treated them. No longer blaming himself, no longer shackled by regret, his soul was finally free. The chains binding him had shattered. He was done devoting his life to the village that betrayed him. Now, he would live for himself—and for his son.
He was no longer Konoha's White Fang.
He was the White Fang of the Hatake Clan.
"White Fang, what's the meaning of this?!" Danzo shouted, unable to hide his growing anger.
"I apologize for my son's actions. But... I, Hatake Sakumo, regret nothing. If I had to do it all over again, I'd make the same choice," Sakumo declared without even glancing at Danzo.
"You dare defy an official order?! Yusuke attacked civilians! You know the consequences!" Danzo snapped.
"Defy an order? Then I have no reason to be a shinobi anymore."
With that, Sakumo removed his forehead protector and let it fall to the ground.
Elsewhere, Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, watching from his crystal ball, jolted so hard that he dropped his pipe.
"You…" Danzo was stunned. A part of him feared this new Sakumo... but another part was secretly relieved. The White Fang stepping away from the village meant one less rival for the Hokage seat.
"Then bring me Hatake Yusuke. Alive or dead—I don't care!" Danzo ordered his men once again.
"I'll handle this, Father," Yusuke said, stopping Sakumo from stepping forward. Now wasn't the time for his father to act.
"Alright," Sakumo nodded, trusting his son completely. If Yusuke couldn't handle it, then he would step in.
"Tsunade, I'd appreciate it if you stayed out of this," Yusuke said calmly.
Tsunade nodded. She was one of the few who truly understood how strong Yusuke was.
"Speed is weight. Ever felt a kick moving at the speed of light?" Yusuke asked the surrounding ROOT agents.
As soon as he said it, several of them instinctively tensed. They could feel the pressure. But before they could even move, a flash of golden light shot through the air.
In the blink of an eye, bodies were flying.
ROOT agents were slammed to the ground before they even realized they were under attack.
Only Tsunade managed to track the movement—because she alone truly understood Yusuke's power. Even Danzo and Sakumo could barely sense the motion through instinct.
"Danzo-sama, your troops are pathetic. How do you expect to protect Konoha's roots like this?" Yusuke sneered coldly.
"You..." Danzo couldn't even form a reply. In less than a second, his elite ROOT members had been utterly destroyed. It was terrifying...
Yusuke stared at Danzo's horrified expression. This... was absolute speed. If your enemy couldn't sense your presence, they couldn't react. They couldn't run. They just died.
"White Fang, Hokage-sama requests your presence... along with Danzo-sama and Hatake Yusuke," said a masked ANBU who had appeared silently.
He had only seen Yusuke speak, followed by a burst of golden light—then ROOT agents collapsing like puppets. In a world where strength ruled all, he knew exactly what kind of person stood before him.
He called Yusuke… "-sama".

Meanwhile, back in the Hokage's office, Hiruzen Sarutobi was filled with regret.
After witnessing Yusuke's power, he realized he had made a terrible mistake. He had once followed Danzo's advice to suppress Sakumo's influence—fearing the White Fang's growing reputation might one day threaten his control over the Hokage succession. After all, the title had always remained within 'their' circle.
Now... he regretted everything.
He was angry at Danzo, yes, but in his mind, it was still possible to fix this—if he could make a deal with Yusuke.
Suddenly, the door opened.
Minato and Dan Kato entered.
"Hokage-sama, the mission is complete," they reported and handed in their findings.
"May I ask… what exactly happened while we were gone?" Minato inquired calmly.
"It's nothing you need to concern yourself with. You just got back from a mission—take some rest," Hiruzen replied, exhaling smoke from his pipe. He looked exhausted.
"Before I go, I want to say one thing."
Minato's eyes narrowed.
"Please… don't do anything that will make Yusuke lose faith in you. Because the future of Konoha… might rest solely on his shoulders."
He wasn't dumb. Even without the full story, he knew this was all about Yusuke.
"Understood," Hiruzen nodded briefly, not wanting to dig deeper into the subject. Deep down, he knew just how dangerous Yusuke's talent was. He had plans to "tame" the boy—just as he once shaped Kakashi.
But now...
Now, he wasn't so sure.
That speed... was it even possible without Space-Time Ninjutsu? Did Yusuke possess a second Kekkei Genkai?
One thing was clear—Yusuke wasn't like Sakumo.
Sakumo still believed in the village.
But Yusuke?
Yusuke couldn't be controlled.
Should he be eliminated?
Even if he could... it would cost the village dearly. Not to mention Sakumo and Tsunade would never let that happen.
"Hokage-sama, they've arrived," came a voice from outside, snapping Hiruzen out of his thoughts.
