Chapter 44 – Kakashi Is Injured
"What a peaceful morning..." Yusuke murmured as he stretched his body after waking up.
Once he was up, Yusuke prepared breakfast. Not long after, both Kakashi and Hatake Sakumo woke up as well. The three of them sat down to enjoy their breakfast together, like a true family.
That day, neither Yusuke nor Sakumo had anything on their schedules. Yusuke wasn't on any mission, and Sakumo had already retired from the ninja world. So, they decided to accompany Kakashi for some training.
At Yusuke's current level, regular training wasn't very effective anymore. Physical training was also limited due to the current age of his body. As for Ninjutsu practice, he usually left that to his Shadow Clones. While his Ninjutsu wasn't as practical as his Devil Fruit powers, that didn't mean he had given up on the ninja arts. The system had once told him that when his chakra and Devil Fruit abilities perfectly fused, the resulting power would be far greater. After all, his Devil Fruit strength was also heavily dependent on how much chakra he had.
"Let's spar, Kakashi," Yusuke said casually.
Kakashi didn't hesitate. In fact, he was curious to see how strong his brother really was.
As soon as they started, Kakashi flung kunai at Yusuke from every angle, trying to cut off any escape route.
Yusuke drew his own kunai and deflected every attack.
At the same time, Kakashi quickly formed hand seals.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
A massive fireball shot toward Yusuke.

In that moment, Kakashi drew a large sword and charged. Yusuke simply smiled.

Kakashi stepped forward with confidence.

Yusuke raised his arm, blocking Kakashi's slash directly. Then he swung his leg, releasing an Air Blade—a sharp gust of wind imbued with chakra. The blue arc hit Kakashi's abdomen hard—but instead of Kakashi, it struck a cloud of smoke.
"A Shadow Clone, huh?" Yusuke muttered, realizing he hadn't been using Observation Haki and missed the switch.
Before he could think further, the real Kakashi appeared behind him, forming hand signs again before launching another Great Fireball.
"Not bad, Kakashi," Yusuke praised, raising his hand and tapping the air. A thin crack formed in space, and a powerful tremor shattered the fireball mid-air before it could touch him.
Kakashi dashed in again. This time, he aimed for close combat. As the younger brother of Yusuke and the son of the White Fang, Kakashi's true strength lay in his swordsmanship. That had always been Yusuke's advice. Kakashi's chakra reserves were limited, so mastering physical techniques like Kenjutsu was the key to his growth.
In fact, Kakashi's talent in swordsmanship far outshone his ninjutsu. In the original story, because of White Fang's death, Kakashi never had a mentor to guide him in Kenjutsu. The village didn't have any true sword masters either. So eventually, Kakashi gave up and relied on the Sharingan instead.
Back to the fight—Kakashi lunged forward again, and Yusuke decided to test his brother's growth.
Kusanagi no Tsurugi — The Sword of Kusanagi.
As Yusuke drew the Kusanagi, Kakashi flinched for a moment. Normally, Yusuke only used regular blades.
"Iaido: Evil Harbor Bird!" Kakashi shouted, unleashing a chakra slash shaped like a bird.
Yusuke swung the Kusanagi, slicing through the attack with ease.
The two clashed at close range, exchanging blows. Yusuke clearly wasn't going all out—his attacks were more like guided openings for Kakashi to improve.
Eventually, Kakashi began to tire. His footwork staggered, and Yusuke seized the chance. A clean slash landed on Kakashi's right arm—not deep, but enough to make him drop his sword and stumble back a few steps.
"So this is the true strength of my brother…?" Kakashi thought, stunned. The pressure Yusuke emitted was eerily similar to what he once felt from their father, Sakumo. Yet they were the same age.
"Kakashi, are you surrendering?" Yusuke asked with a smile. He was quite satisfied with how much stronger his brother had become.
"Chidori!" Kakashi answered, not with words, but action. A high-pitched chirping sound filled the air like a thousand birds crying at once. Lightning surged violently from his hand.
"He's already developed Chidori faster than in the original timeline...? Butterfly effect, huh…" Yusuke muttered, a little surprised.
He hadn't realized how his mere presence had accelerated Kakashi's growth beyond the natural timeline.
"And that's not a normal Chidori... he's fused it with Finger Gun technique," Yusuke noted. The piercing force was several times greater than the original.
Watching Kakashi rush at him with fierce resolve, Yusuke smiled.
This time, he wouldn't hold back.
Every time they fought, he hesitated—worried he might hurt Kakashi. But Yusuke now understood: only in real battle could one reach their true potential. Better Kakashi get hurt here than die out on the battlefield.
"Bring it, Kakashi! Rasengan!"
A swirling sphere of chakra formed in Yusuke's palm. The Rasengan clashed with Kakashi's Chidori, exploding with intense force. Kakashi was blasted far backward, while Yusuke only took one step back due to the rebound.
"Kakashi!"
With a burst of speed, Yusuke flashed forward and caught Kakashi mid-air—faster than even Sakumo could react.
But Kakashi had already lost consciousness.
"We need to get him to the hospital," Sakumo said. He looked at Yusuke, who was visibly shaken. But Sakumo understood—his son was only trying to temper Kakashi's strength.
"…Alright." Yusuke nodded.
"Open: Air Door." With a wave of his hand, a door appeared in midair. Sakumo, who had been about to turn around, froze in disbelief.
"After you, Father," Yusuke said.
"A space-time technique?" Sakumo asked.
"Yes. I'll explain later." Together, they stepped through—and appeared right outside Tsunade's home. But she wasn't there. (Yusuke had marked the location beforehand.)
"Looks like she's at the hospital," Yusuke said. He opened another portal, this time to a personal dimension.
Sakumo was even more shocked. A personal dimension? That meant Yusuke's space-time jutsu surpassed even the Flying Thunder God Technique. Could this be a new Kekkei Genkai?
Inside the dimension, Yusuke located Tsunade's chakra and opened one last portal.
"Tsunade! Help! Kakashi needs you!" Yusuke called out urgently.
"Can you not just throw portals open like that?" Tsunade grumbled. The spatial ripple had set off her instincts—especially as a Summoning Jutsu user, she was highly sensitive to dimensional shifts.
"Oh, Sakumo-senpai is here too," she added.
"No time for greetings," Yusuke said, his panic still apparent.
"Put him down," she ordered, beginning her examination.
"Well, Tsunade? Is Kakashi okay?"
"Any permanent damage?"
"If there's a scar, would that ruin his chances at finding a wife?"
"..."
"..."
"Tsunade? Say something! How is he?"
"Shut up!" she snapped, her face twitching in irritation. Yusuke's rambling was giving her a headache.
He went silent, but his eyes still reflected his worry.
"Kakashi has a hairline fracture in his right arm. Other than that, he's fine." Her voice was calm as she activated her Medical Ninjutsu and began healing the injury.
"By the way, what happened to him? Who did this?" Tsunade asked, frowning. She knew how overprotective Yusuke was with his little brother. Normally, he'd be raging by now.
Sure, he teased Kakashi often—but that was sibling banter. Deep down, Tsunade even felt a twinge of jealousy toward their bond, though she never admitted it.
"Err… I did," Yusuke said awkwardly.
"You?" Tsunade's eyes widened.
"Hahaha! Did he piss you off or something?" she laughed without a hint of remorse.
"It was a sparring match…" Yusuke began, then explained the whole story.
"Well, he's safe now. So… care to explain your new ability?" Tsunade asked.
And so, Yusuke began to tell both Sakumo and Tsunade about the true power behind his Door-Door Fruit.
