Chapter 4 - Giving Her A Taste of Her Own Medicine

However, who would have expected that beneath this sweet and charming face lay a hideous demon?

Han Ruochen didn't say anything, and Han Ziyan became impatient. She had been waiting here for Han Ruochen for an hour; she hoped to snatch this job from Han Ruochen right away, and Mother Han hoped for the same. Thus, the two of them came up with the plan where Han Ziyan would deliver lunch to Han Ruochen and then discuss the matter of signing the job transfer certificate.

Once, Han Ruochen agreed she would go straight to Principal Duan and take the job.

This way, Han Ruochen wouldn't have a chance to regret and turn things around.

Though Han Ziyan was running out of patience, she still smiled at Han Ruochen and said to her, "Sister Chen, it's a good thing that you met me here. Mother made you lunch and asked me to bring it." She then paused and, with the correct amount of hesitation, asked, "Sister Chen, did you discuss the matter of job transfer with Principal Duan? Did he agree? Should I go and sign the document now?"

"I changed my mind."

"Great, then I will go and sign it right —"

Han Ziyan paused as she realised what Han Ruochen had just said. As she slowly digested the words, her face changed again and again. She raised her head and subtly glared at Han Ruochen.

When Han Ruochen saw the look on her face, she chuckled slightly. She was truly blind, or maybe Han Ziyan was really that great at acting. How come she never detected that there was something wrong with this little sister of hers? The signs were as clear as possible.

"What? You changed your mind, but didn't you agree last night?"

"I never said that I am willing to hand my job to you," said Han Ruochen in a chilling voice that could have rivalled the cold gust of wind blowing at –50 degrees Celsius. She glanced at Han Ziyan and curled her lips. She said to her, "This is the job that I got after fighting for it among more than two hundred thousand candidates. I gave exams after exams and spent my nights learning all kinds of rules and structures, along with intonations and voices. If I want to hand it to you, it's my generosity. If I don't want to, then it's my decision."

"Principal Duan said that this job is really difficult for someone who has never even spent a night studying about nouns and pronouns, how can you even teach a class of students who are proficient at them? You will only become a joke in their eyes, not to mention the constant complaints of parents that he would have to face after you take over. So he told me that it's better for me to continue teaching."

Once Han Ruochen finished speaking, Han Ziyan's face was scorching. Two clouds of red bloomed on her cheeks as she clenched the strap of the lunchbox that she was holding. She said to Han Ruochen, "I—I would have worked hard." She didn't believe that if there was something that Han Ruochen could do, she couldn't do it.

Han Ruochen naturally knew what Han Ziyan was thinking. Having lived with her for more than fifty years, she knew what kind of woman her little half-sister was; she simply smiled and stated, "But Principal Duan doesn't want you. He wants me. What can we do about it, Ziyan?"

That was the last straw that broke the camel's back. Han Ziyan was so angry that she ran past Han Ruochen, but before she had taken more than six steps, Han Ruochen stopped her.

"Ziyan."

Han Ziyan paused. A victorious smile tugged at her lips as she was sure that Han Ruochen was calling her to take her words back, but she decided that she was not going to forgive her so easily. There was this dress that she had been eyeing, but it cost a whopping five hundred yuan. She couldn't buy it, and she didn't dare to ask Yang Jianming for it because she was worried that it would ruin her sweet reputation in front of the man.

So now that she had gotten an opportunity, she would throw a tantrum and ask Han Ruochen to pay for it.

She turned and looked at Han Ruochen and asked softly, "What is it, Sister Chen?"

"That lunchbox," Han Ruochen said with a smile as she pointed to the wicker box that Han Ziyan was holding. "Did you not say that it was for me? Where are you taking it?"

When Han Ziyan heard her words, the smile on her lips could hardly be kept. She pursed her lips and then walked over before handing the lunchbox to Han Ruochen, before turning around and running away.

Once she was gone, the smile on Han Ruochen also disappeared. She looked at the time on the old clock that was hanging outside the staff room and turned around on her feet. She knew that Han Ziyan was not going to let this matter go easily. She and Mother Han had teamed up to get this job for her and even spent quite a lot of effort on her. They would be really upset once they realised their scheme had fallen through.

Since Han Ruochen knew that Han Ziyan would go to the one person who supported her endlessly, she would go to the person who supported her!

It was a good thing that it was lunchtime at her school; she could visit her father at the pig farm. When Han Ruochen thought about her old father, her eyes couldn't help but soften. In her past life, the one person who had treated her the best was her father. He was there for her all her life, and even tried to get her out of the Yang family hellhole. However, with Mother Han aiming for his life, how could he possibly survive?

When her father passed away, Han Ruochen couldn't even see him for the last time, and Han Ziyan went to the funeral to portray the role of a filial daughter while discrediting her and her siblings for being unfilial. In this life, she would make sure Han Ziyan got a taste of her own medicine.
