Chapter 33 - Changes.

Written by **EYRAM**

Serena had a much better worldview and an acute understanding of the things in her immediate environment, which bolstered her productivity at work, but change was not as good to everyone. Jack was in a comatose state even after his power had been bestowed. He was sent to Serena's home, but Seraphina was a sobbing mess.

The loss of her baby put a huge toll on her, one she was not confident in single-handedly bearing; luckily, Serena was there for her. Seraphina moved to Serena's place because without Jack, she could not pay taxes; hence, all his assets were frozen, yeah… it had already been a month.

During the month, Serene Technology became the next tech giant. She released a new smart glass that took the market by storm, and now Serena was quite successful and was already looking up some good real estate to invest in.

On the other hand, Seraphina could not keep it together. At school, she had suddenly stopped overachieving; maybe she wanted to be a better mother for the baby, but right now that dream seemed far-fetched. To a mother, the loss of a child was the worst thing possible.

Serena did everything she was capable of doing, but her twin continued to despair. One day, an idea popped into Seraphina's head. In her time of anguish, seeking momentary pleasure exceeded anything; she went to the very depths, the prison she crawled out from, and she went to look for Vincent, the Alpha of the Dark Moon pack. And the father of her baby.

The floor was lined with stones, the road was bumpy, and the ride was nothing like it was while she was riding on Vincent.

After the arduous ascent, she stood at the apex of the mountain which she once called home, to months ago and everything was different, the cave's spring became way too hot for humans, the place was lined in claw marks and there were various signs of a struggle, and deep inside, lay a dead wolf, this one was several times larger than Vincent.

Its fur was white, its eyes brown but lifeless, it looked much more humanoid than Jack, and somehow, someway, she found herself touching the corpse in all the wrong places.

Serena, after completing her impossible work load in minuets came out to look at a place she wanted to buy, she secured a huge commercial property, spanning several times the current shop, it was like a mall, and though she could not afford it now, she claimed it and promised to pay in installments, the place followed the same theme as the other shop but it's location was in high-traffic all day and night.

Soon, the expansion demanded more workers, three extra sales assistants, and one extra, for the tech-related jobs, since she did such a large part of it.

After the interview, when they had narrowed down their options, and it was the final stage, the contract, she stepped out to get some fresh air.

She wore a tailored suit that fit her perfectly and accentuated all her features. It was themed red and yellow, to complement her natural hair and skin tone, and there she saw him, again, Lance. This time, she did not stand on the sidelines; instead, she confidently approached him.

When the distance between them was negligible, she stated, in a clear, lucid voice, without hesitation.

"What are you doing around these parts of town?"

"Why, now I have to ask you for permission to be here?"

"No, you could say I'm curious."

"Well, unfortunately for you, I'm a rather private person."

"We both know that is not true."

"How can you prove that?"

"You are always on the news, very active on social media handles, I could go on, but I do not want to embarrass you," he smirked, then said,

"I see you did your research on me. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"Lance, stop pretending. I know your mom left one day and has not come back. I know you are not in the best place emotionally and might harbor a grudge against me for gaslighting you several times."

"Well, I guess I'm an open book, or your information network is astonishing."

"It's a little bit of both, I want you to know that, I might have also developed something for you, I was either just too shy, or maybe felt I was learning from the Caspian fiasco."

"Are you asking me out?"

"No, I'm inviting you to have dinner with me." At that moment, time seemed to slow down. It was nearing summer, and the beautiful sunset tinted everything around them. And Jack replied

"I'm afraid I would have to say no, okay?"

"…"

"Serena, are you okay?"

"I just do not understand you anymore? First, you ask me out, then get angry at me for not giving you a definitive answer, then I do the same thing, and you decline."

"At least I gave you an answer."

"You know what, I'm done with this. I have other things to do, you know," and he had the gall to start laughing hysterically, completely ignoring him, she walked away. Then he said,

"Serena, Serena, how does 8:00 at my house sound? This time, we'll be all alone."

"You just rejected me, and now this, stop wasting your breath because I would not show up, playing with emotions is not funny, in the least bit."

Then she stormed off. She was done, done with Lance. And that was when she realized that was the most emotion she had displayed after getting out of that mirror. But she did not dwell on that matter for too long; instead, she decided to go home, to her sister, who was probably in her bed, crying away all the world's problems.

She made her way home swiftly, and that was when she realized her sister was gone… she was terrified, not an idea of her sister's whereabouts entering her thoughts, and it was obvious her sister was not in the best state of mind, but what she did not expect was her leaving just like that.

Seraphina had nowhere to go; her so-called friends had abandoned her as soon as it came to their notice that she was not the same spoiled rich kid who would stupidly do their bidding.

And that was when it dawned upon her, the woods were most likely her location, based on everything, she might have gone trough back there due to how unstable she was. And Serena followed suit, determined not to part with her sister once again, based on everything they had been through in their relationship, surviving even murder attempts, that kind of bond meant too much to lose.

Serena changed into something more comfortable, something not too tight, but not too loose either, comfortable, but stretchy and flexible. Then she took to her feet, as agile as the gale demolishing anything that blocked her path.

When she arrived at the cave she was once kept in, the visage was strikingly different, it was filled with humanoid wolves, with white fur and they had red yes, making them an eyesore to gaze upon.

Ignoring their intimidating visage, she tried to make a break for it, but she was surrounded, there were just too many wolves in the pack. But she was not going to give up just because she was outnumbered, she looked for a loophole to exploit and began to flee in a direction that made them turn oddly and some even lost their balance, the training was coming to fruition.

She did not stop after taking the initiative and getting the advantage. It was obvious these wolves could display tremendous combat power while working together so she did what seemed most logical to her at that moment and ran for dear life.

Soon she came across another cave, this one had massive craters, was lined with traps and overall was not the most approachable it had signs of struggle and craters all over it, but when she listened closely, she could hear sounds, of breaths, but was not sure if that was a good sign or a bad one.

But despite that she went for it, bravely going in, but keenly observing her surroundings for traps and more, and when she finally came across the person behind the sounds she was both happy, shocked, repulsed and surprised all at the same time

"Seraphina, what are you doing!" she shouted. Her sister turned to her and said,

"Serena trusts me this is not what it looks like"

"I have no interest in what it looks like, just remind me never to look for you when you go missing again, I'm off"

"Wait" ignoring her sister's plea she quickly made her way out and traced her steps, aiming to avoid the bad things she encountered on her way and soon, the beautiful modern Ravensville was in plain sight.
