Chapter 32: Encounter and Search for Spirit Beasts
"Well, Bing'er broke through to level 30 a year ago," Shui Xinrou said somewhat helplessly. They searched for a whole year, but found no spirit beast. It wasn't until they were nearing the Far North's mixed zone that they gave up, planning to return to the academy and make further plans.
Liu Yanyang took out the spirit beast distribution map of the Far North's outer periphery and handed it to the two of them.
"I have a good spot. Northeast of the Far North's outer periphery, there are a large number of flying spirit beasts."
After taking the map, Shui Xinrou and the others examined it closely, unable to conceal their excitement. Finally, they had some clues.
"Auntie Shui, take Shui Bing'er with you. Let's fly directly there. The sooner we get there, the sooner we'll be back. Tianshui Academy is anxiously waiting," Liu Yanyang said.
"Fly?" Shui Xinrou and the others wondered. The next second, they saw a pair of brilliant golden wings unfold behind Liu Yanyang.
"This... this is an external spirit bone," they both exclaimed in unison, clearly stunned.
But Shui Xinrou quickly regained her composure, a smile beaming across her face, her eyes filled with relief as she spoke softly.
"It seems Xiaoyang has grown considerably stronger, even having such an opportunity. Aunt Shui is so happy for you!"
"You... what level are you?" Shui Bing'er asked anxiously. Because of the "Chengying" effect, none of them could accurately gauge Liu Yanyang's spirit power level.
"Level 43!" Liu Yanyang said calmly.
Shui Bing'er took a step back, a look of disappointment and resentment on her face. Then, a flash of disappointment passed, and her gaze fixed on Liu Yanyang, gradually becoming more determined.
Seeing those beautiful icy blue eyes fixed on him, Liu Yanyang coughed lightly twice, then flapped his wings and flew northeast.
Shui Xinrou smiled, summoned her spirit, and holding Shui Bing'er, followed Liu Yanyang.
In the far north, in the northeastern region, a towering mountain peak reached the clouds.
A sharp cry echoed throughout the peak. A giant bird, three meters long, covered in blue and white feathers, with an illusory ice crystal crown atop its head, emerged.
It flew out from the clouds, covered in blood, flapping its wings vigorously as it flew southwest.
Behind it, a large bird over ten meters long, pure white, was rapidly approaching it, its eyes full of fiery passion, and chirping excitedly.
At this moment, the three people in flight stopped and looked at the spirit beast in front of them.
"Is that the Ice Phoenix?" Liu Yanyang said in surprise. He couldn't believe that the Ice Phoenix still existed in this era.
Shui Xinrou, who was standing by, stared intently at the large bird covered in blood.
Then, she said excitedly, "Atavism! It's the Condensed Water Flying Luan whose bloodline has returned to its ancestral lineage!"
Her own spirit was the Condensed Water Flying Luan, so she could say it so accurately.
"The age is about 3,000 years, just right," Liu Yanyang said lightly.
Shui Xinrou and the other person nodded at the same time, and then their expressions became even more excited.
"That one behind is actually a subspecies of the Ice Phoenix—the White Phoenix, over ten thousand years old. Now Bing'er has her fifth spirit ring!"
"Auntie Shui, I'll leave the White Phoenix to you. I'll take care of the Condensed Water Luan," Liu Yanyang said calmly.
Shui Xinrou was about to tell him to be careful, but she was stunned when she saw the four spirit rings at Liu Yanyang's feet: one yellow, two purple, and one black.
"Ten thousand... ten thousand year spirit rings!"
Liu Yanyang nodded without saying anything, flapping his wings and charging towards the Condensed Water Luan.
Shui Xinrou followed closely behind, ready to intercept the White Phoenix. Shui Bing'er followed behind Liu Yanyang, assisting him as best she could.
The battlefield was split in two.
Seeing Liu Yanyang charging towards it, the Condensed Water Luan's eyes darkened with fear, and it cried out.
A circle of icy blue light, centered on it, covered an area of thirty meters.
After Liu Yanyang rushed in, he immediately felt the temperature plummet. His spirit power was rapidly draining, and he felt the pain of frostbite on his skin.
"Half-territory!" Liu Yanyang muttered to himself. This bloodline was indeed a return to its ancestral roots. If it continued to grow, it might truly become an Ice Phoenix.
"Third Spirit Skill—Unyielding!"
Liu Yanyang held the Dragon Roar in one hand, and the discomfort he had felt just now completely disappeared.
He swiftly lunged forward, and before the Condensed Water Luan could react, he lashed out with a spear in its back.
With a mournful wail, it plummeted, slamming heavily into the snow.
It tried to rise and fly back into the sky, but the spear pierced its wings, pinning it to the ground, unable to move.
Liu Yanyang landed on the ground and said to Shui Bing'er behind him.
"Once you've adjusted your form, you can absorb the spirit ring."
Shui Bing'er nodded, following Liu Yanyang to the Condensed Water Luan.
Its phoenix eyes shone with resentment, as if it wanted to devour them alive.
"Summon your spirit and exert your spirit pressure on it. Suppressing its resentment will make it easier for you to absorb the spirit ring," Liu Yanyang said calmly to Shui Bing'er.
Shui Bing'er nodded, and then the Ice Phoenix possessed her, the suppression of her high-level bloodline directly affecting the Condensed Water Luan's spirit and body.
It could only wail incessantly, as if begging.
Shui Bing'er drew her dagger and, with a single blow, decisively ended the Condensed Water Luan's life.
A bright purple spirit ring emerged, and Shui Bing'er immediately sat cross-legged, absorbing it.
Liu Yanyang, standing guard nearby, turned his head to look at another battlefield.
Over there, spirit power surged, and a White Phoenix burst forth from the dust and mist, soaring into the sky and disappearing into the distance.
A few breaths later, the mist dissipated, and Shui Xinrou approached him, expressing a touch of regret.
"I let it escape. I'd already severely injured it, but I didn't expect its innate ability to restore all the damage it had sustained. It took advantage of my distraction and escaped!"
"A talent akin to Nirvana, truly worthy of a subspecies of the Ice Phoenix!" Liu Yanyang exclaimed with emotion.
Shui Xinrou agreed, stating that they would have to wait until Bing'er reached level 50 before returning to search.
The two of them fell silent, silently guarding Shui Bing'er's side as she absorbed the spirit ring.
The morning light faded, and the sun shone brightly across the land.
Shui Bing'er slowly opened her eyes and stood up, her face beaming with joy as she looked at the two of them.
"Swish!"
Shui Bing'er's blue and white dress ripped, revealing a pair of icy blue wings behind her, her delicate body trembling slightly.
Liu Yanyang quickly closed his eyes and turned around, but the image of that fair, round, graceful figure lingered in his mind for a long time.
"Bing'er, concentrate and take it within yourself," Shui Xinrou said loudly.
A few minutes later, Liu Yanyang heard the rustling sound of changing clothes behind him.
"Okay, Xiaoyang, you can turn around now," Shui Xinrou said.
Liu Yanyang turned slowly, not daring to look at Shui Bing'er.
One of them blushed, lowering her head, while the other looked up at the sky, bewildered.
Shui Xinrou found it amusing and spoke slowly.
"Bing'er, how do you feel?"
Shui Bing'er finally dared to raise her head, but her eyes happened to meet Liu Yanyang's, and they both quickly turned away.
