The morning begins in Chinatown. Shopkeepers are setting up their small businesses, others are cleaning up the surrounding area, and above Wang's establishment, he is sitting in the lotus position meditating. Billy goes up and wants to talk to him when Huan interrupts him.
"Billy, don't bother me!"
Billy seems worried:
"He's been in this position for half an hour now."
Huan: He's not here!
Billy: What do you mean?
" Huan: He's in the astral plane.
A blue thread on Wang's navel seems to be connected to a sphere. Wang, or Wang's astral body, all blue, travels through space, its shapes changing constantly. He seems to be looking for something when suddenly...
- Here, I'm there.
Wang enters a portal hundreds of meters high. Once inside, the form of the astral body takes on Wang's appearance in the earthly world. He is himself again. It's a temple.
- This is the temple of infinite knowledge, the sacred library!
An idyllic landscape surrounds him, elven beings, majestic birds, and a great sphinx at the entrance, which says to him in a firm and imposing voice:
- What are you looking for, young mortal?
Wang follows:
- I am only a humble servant of the celestial bodies who requires the guidance of the Maitreya in my quest for knowledge.
The Sphinx: - Hmm, so you are one of his mortals? I already know what brings you here, but a word of advice for you, my young friend: "Ask the right questions and you will get the right answers, not the ones that will comfort you in your position."
Wang: I didn't quite understand, great sage.
The Sphinx: You'll understand soon enough.
Then the door opens and the Sphinx lets him pass. Wang enters, beings of different forms open books in search of knowledge, and at the very end of the corridor, a man, or at least the appearance of him, dressed elegantly in a vest, a shirt, and suit pants, drinking a cup of tea, sees him coming and asks him to sit down.
- So what brings you back here again, Wang, guardian of the celestial bodies.
Wang: I greet you, Maitreya of mysteries and knowledge. I would like to know one thing: in the battle I've been waging against the drifters for a while, you who know everything, will I emerge victorious?
The Maitreya: Hmm! Wang Lee Fang, son of Lee Fang and Sarah Middlesbrough, you're not asking the right questions.
Meanwhile, Billy sits at the bar watching Elva do the accounting, and Huan is arranging chairs. A man is at the back of the room, having slept in the bar the night before. Neither Elva nor Huan noticed him because yesterday they were too busy fighting the specter.
- Elva: Huan, you can ask that guy to leave. We'd forgotten about him.
Huan comes to approach him when Billy stops him. - This man has something evil around him.
Billy sees an aura of fire next to him, but Huan approaches him and wakes him up. It's a cowboy who had drunk too much, so drunk he passed out. Huan picks him up and throws him into the street behind the shop.
Huan comes back into the room and sees the cowboy again, still sitting unconscious on the table. He looks at Elva, and Elva looks at him.
Huan: But I just threw him out.
Elva: No! You made a gesture of lifting him up and then you left!
Huan doesn't understand anything anymore.
Billy: I can sense an aura around him, like an illusion. Wait, let me try something.
Billy concentrates, then holds the voodoo amulet around his neck and grabs the cowboy, who is surprised and wakes up abruptly.
Cowboy: How did you do that! You're one of them!!!
He moves his hand closer to one of these two revolvers. Elva, seeing him do this, reacts.
Elva: Who are you talking about?
Cowboy: To do that, you have to be either a dark one or be with them.
Elva: We call them drifters.
Billy: But to do what you did, you have to have power like them. It's dark, as you say!
The cowboy stops then goes to the bar, asks Elva for a drink, shakes it, and asks her about her story.
Elva: So, what's your story?
The cowboy doesn't react, takes his drink, and drops a bill when three cowboy guys come in.
One of the three,
- so, wouldn't it be our old friend Johnny Mad-dog, the man who set fire to his shack with his wife and those two kids.
Elva looks at Huan. Johnny doesn't seem to be looking at them, then wants to leave when one of the three stops him.
- so you're not going to leave us like that! What did you come to Chinatown for?
Johnny: It's none of your business.
When one of the three tries to grab him, he's automatically thrown back. The other two take out their weapons and start shooting. Huan takes Billy and Elva and chases each other behind a table and observes the scene. Johnny seems to split into two. Several Johnnys appear and move instantly, using flames that allow him to move through space and time like a portal. With the back of their revolvers, they beat them up one after the other. A lot of damage is done,
A projectile comes towards Billy's eye. Wang intercepts it. Billy jumps with joy and throws himself into Wang's arms.
Billy: Wang!!!!!!
Wang: What's going on!
Johnny looks at him.
- Don't worry, I'll pay the repartitions!
And he leaves when Wang catches up with him.
Wang: I know what you're looking for, and we have the same fight.
Johnny: You don't know anything about my life.
Wang: I heard about a guy who burned his wife and kids to death.
Johnny: That wasn't me!!
Wang: I know, it was a dinghy, and I know where to find it.
Johnny: Tell me where.
Wang: I'll offer you a deal: join our team, and I'll help you with your revenge.
Johnny thinks back to the scene, his life with his family. A dinghy with flames around it was in his house. During the confrontation, Johnny had driven a stake into his chest, and the dinghy's blood fell on him, and he drank it.
