"I see…" His hands shook slightly as he unfolded it again, eyes started darting across the words he had already memorised.
"Ricardo, I have found it. The truth of what Barbara sought all those years ago. The pearls. I know where they are, and they are not safe. You must move quickly, for the wrong hands already reach for them."
"What…?" His heart sank.
"Barbara…." Even now, after all this time, her name was like salt on an open wound. He whispered it, almost reverently. "Barbara…you were right to search. And I was too blind to see."
