Chapter 149 - What the… Death Goddess Hela Is Actually My Sister?

Not only Odin, the All-Father, but even Frigga showed expressions of shock.

Though Thor had only given a rough outline of what he had discovered, it was enough. These were things Thor had no reason to know. In fact, apart from Odin and Frigga, almost no one in Asgard would know. These were events from long ago.

For Odin, they were not pleasant memories, which was why he rarely spoke of them. As for Midgard? Humans had only existed for a few thousand years—there was no way they could have known.

It seemed that what Thor had learned was not just hearsay. And if that was true, then his instructions to Fandral and the others about impending danger for Asgard were not baseless.

Frigga's expression darkened slightly.

"Is there more? Tell me everything the… thing revealed to you."

Odin remained cautious. He didn't answer immediately, but after a moment of thought, he addressed Thor.

Thor, never the sharpest mind, had only average memory, so he pulled out the diary and began flipping through it, searching for information related to Asgard, Odin, and himself.

"Thor, is that… the magical thing you mentioned?" Frigga asked, her eyes wide with curiosity at Thor's "empty-handed demonstration."

"I tried in Midgard, Mother, but it doesn't work. I can't reveal it to anyone."

Thor explained casually, then added a hopeful note: "But if anyone could possibly sense it… it would be you, Mother."

Frigga's magical abilities were top-tier, not just in Asgard but across the universe. Even Loki's best tricks were nothing compared to her power.

After a brief hesitation, Frigga extended her right hand. A soft white light appeared, floating above Thor's diary. She placed it carefully on the book, focusing her senses to detect the presence.

"Thor, is the 'thing' really in your hands?"

She had unleashed all her power, yet could sense nothing. Thor nodded firmly.

"Yes, Mother, it's in my hands. But… you can't sense it?"

Frigga tried other methods, but to no avail. Even Thor's mother couldn't detect it. Whatever this diary was, it was beyond his reach.

Thor shook his head and stopped trying. He moved on to sharing the diary's revelations with his parents: purple sweet potato snap-things, temporal mutation bureaus, horse-faced gods, the Death Goddess Hela crushing Mjolnir…

As soon as he mentioned Hela, Odin and Frigga's expressions subtly shifted. Thor realized immediately—his parents knew about the Death Goddess Hela.

"Father, who is this Death Goddess? I've never heard of her," Thor asked, bewildered.

Odin fell silent, thinking. That foolish boy—Hela was his sister! But her story was complicated, so Odin had kept her existence hidden from his sons. Being confronted by Thor's question caught him off guard.

"Let's discuss the future predictions first," Odin said, changing the topic.

Thor noticed the connection between Hela and his father. His curiosity only grew. Still, he began sharing more of the diary's information. Odin and Frigga listened quietly, expressions calm, until Thor hesitated.

"It says… says…" Thor stammered, reluctant to reveal the worst.

"Does it say something bad?" Frigga guessed, sensing the gravity.

"It's okay, Thor. Just tell us what it says," Odin encouraged.

Thor took a deep breath.

"It says… in a few years, Father… your life… will come to an end."

Frigga's face changed immediately; the room grew heavy with tension.

"How can you say such things, Thor!" Frigga scolded, though her eyes still worriedly glanced at Odin.

As the greatest sorceress of Asgard, Frigga's powers were unrivaled across the universe. Even a future-traveling Thor could be read by her in an instant. She had long suspected the truth about Odin but had avoided confronting it.

"Yes… Father, I'm speaking recklessly, aren't I?" Thor asked, seeking reassurance.

"No, Thor," Odin replied after a pause, voice low but firm. "It's true."

Thor's voice rose sharply in disbelief: "No, Father!"

Odin continued, finally at ease in sharing his burden.

"I've lived too long. My powers grow daily, but my body weakens. My sleep of Odin cannot sustain me as it once did… But Thor, I'm glad… you've grown."

Frigga interrupted, "Father, we will find a way to fix this."

"No, there's no solution. This is the fate of all Asgardian kings. The natural course is the best solution. You have grown, Thor."

Thor's excitement at Odin's praise was drowned out by the gravity of the prophecy. He felt his chest tighten further as he recalled another grim prediction—the diary also mentioned Frigga would die.

His father's death was inevitable with time; his mother's death would be unnatural. Whatever it was, Thor silently vowed to prevent it. He bore this weight alone.

Odin began to reveal long-hidden secrets. He spoke of battles with the Celestials a million years ago, his attempts to collect the Infinity Stones, and of course… Hela.

Hela had fought alongside the Celestials, proving herself fierce.

"She… Hela, is my first daughter," Odin said, a tinge of regret in his voice.

Thor froze. "Your… what?" He had always believed he and Loki were Odin's only sons.

A thousand and five hundred years, and suddenly a sister appears?

"I used Mjolnir against the Celestials the first time I discovered them on Midgard. When they returned, Hela wielded Mjolnir to defend the Nine Realms."

Thor stared in shock. His mighty hammer had a history he never imagined—the Death Goddess Hela had once been its wielder.

"But her ambition grew too great, beyond my control," Odin continued. "So I imprisoned her."

Thor was speechless. His father had imprisoned his own sister. He struggled to reconcile loyalty to Odin with the moral weight of such an act.

"Father, how long do you intend to keep Hela imprisoned?"

"As long as I can control her," Odin replied without hesitation. "After that… Thor, it will be your responsibility."

Thor groaned at the thought. No wonder Hela would one day unleash fury upon him and Loki. Anyone imprisoned so long would surely be furious.

Thor also asked about the embryonic Celestials on Earth, but Odin knew nothing.

Now, seeing Thor's faith in the diary's future-predicting power, Odin chose to trust it—but what could he do? Asgard faced its own imminent troubles; Ragnarok was near.

The conversation shifted, and father and son talked for a long, long time.
